I would prefer the DB as it has more room to move around in. Murphy beds block windows and take up too much room for me so I prefer east/west sleeping. It would be handy for workers who basically eat and sleep. But as a camper I would prefer the U dinette. Thanks for the comparison Josh!
The murphy bed model with bathroom and inside kitchen is so long overdue in an RV of this size in a segment where floorplans have been dominated for decades by nothing but uncomfortable dinettes👍
Awesome video! When I first saw the HIKE last year at the Hershey RV show. I really like all the layouts for the trailer series. So awesome. Thank you for making this video. I really like the wrap colors.
I love this trailer and would totally spring for the dinette model. Use the bunk for storage or a place to sleep when I'm solo camping. I want to love the Murphy but it's weird. It's like it floats in the middle of the room and I can see my dog getting back there. When I was a kid my parents had an old 70's trailer with a front bed that worked kind of like a futon. The front of the sofa slid out and the bendy mattress folded out to fill the space. To this day that's still Moms favorite. She even liked if more then her decked out 5th wheel. I could totally see a bed layout like that checking all the boxes in this unit.
@@Erin-Thor Possibly five days solo, if carrying extra five or six gallons of drinking/cooking water. More weight, of course! A separate 12V freezer would be a nice personal addition. I like to batch cook, portion and freeze, whether at home or on the road. With the convection/microwave oven and induction burner, it would be feasible. Makes life easier and a bit healthier! :-) And I'm not much of a camper! 🙃 ... Teale 🏜️
Looks like that vehicle has just under 1,200lbs of payload These have under 600lbs of hitch weight when unladen. That will go up, but I can't see it going up 600lbs You'll want to check on the maximum hitch weight your vehicle can handle and potentially verify something like a weight distributing hitch is compatible with that vehicle. Sometimes smaller tow vehicles get funny like that..
Josh would you please do a video explaining why and what causes RV hitch weights? There are so many RVs I’d be interested in but the hitch weight is just too high. Maybe in the same video you could talk about towing and weight. My vehicle can handle 7700lbs but you’ve alluded to driving half tons across country with trailers near the vehicle limits. I’d love to hear your thoughts and advice on vehicle to weight ratio.
The full body wrap looks sharp. At the price this sells for and the market it is going after there really should be a Fantastic fan in the main cabin. For the size of these I could do without the sink in the wet bath and get a smidge more room. Our first trailer had a wet bath and it was one easy step to use the kitchen sink.
This is a excellent idea. Decals do wear and fade over time, but RVs fall apart on their own regardless of a decal. It actually might even help preserve the exterior some.
I really like these! The SB is near perfect for our family needs moving from 11 yrs in a lifetime tent trailer (original design with two queen bunks). I spent 45 min crawling all over the SB. It would easily give us two very adequate lower kids bunks (separated) making the seat back on the bench removable to increase bunk width. Parents up top. Quick to switch into hide from foul weather ie seating / game night at tge table or road mode for bikes and gear. The Hike 100 only needs two things. Duel pane windows and slightly longer tongue for a nice tongue box. Then its the ultimate / only van like trailer thats not a (van) 😆.
Great overview. Question: How difficult would it be to order one of these with ZERO decals? Is that an uncommon request? Or will manufacturers gladly make one like that?
It's something MFGS will do *SOMETIMES* It depends on how busy they are at the time Some may still want you to leave their name on the front We basically need to call every time to see what they'll do
Hey nerd. Hope all is nerdy! Lol OK I was thinking " not always a good idea " but I saw where in the northern parts they build ice house rv's why have major regular manufacturers taken that idea with raising and lowering the whole rv for those of us with difficulties going up and down
On the order of a "kneeling" bus? Cool idea for those of us with mobility issues. I've developed my own funky ways of entering and exiting our renovated TT safely. And I can manage better than I could five years ago! 👍 ... Teale 🏜️
I really want the bath sink to be a flip down (like in the 1720) AND a version with the back window but without the big board taking up space. I love the smallness, Winnebago quality, but that Murphy bed and sink have got to go. A full size east/west bed with storage under would have been better. C'mon Engineers, you can do it!!!!!!
I really like these but for $31,00 to $35,000 for such a small towable..... Winnebago can get $&@#ed! You could buy a fairly low mileage Dodge Explorer 230 XLWT class B van for that.
Josh, ol' boy...can you fix the empty and cargo weights in the description above? The weights for the DB are obviously wrong, but the Empty weight for the DB is also different than what you listed in the video...I'm sooooo confused...🤪
@@JoshtheRVNerd That makes more sense because not only was the description incorrect, but the empty weight for the DB in the video was off by 1,000 lbs. It wasn't logical that the Empty weight + CCC of the two models didn't equate to the same GVW since there was no reason to think that they would be on different frames. Thanks for clearing that up!
I feel like they are competing with Micro Max, InTech, and NuCamp teardrops .. they are doing some interesting things. However they fall WAY short on window coverage. Sitting in any of them looking forward seems so claustrophobic and air flow is super limited .. they could at least do the euro windows .. or a skylight or BOTH? They Definitely need a Maxxaire type fan! Doh🙄 I do like the one with the sleeping loft. That would be great for a single camper. The other thing that I don’t like on these and the NuCamp .. no black tank. That is probably a personal preference thing but .. if I have to find a dumping place for the grey, then I would rather just have a black too. Maybe there is something I am not considering since I have never had a cassette toilet .. but again, it seems like an extra nasty step when you still have to pay for grey dumping. 🤷🏻♀️💚
If i was just starting out and upgrading from a tent these might be ok. But the bath is useless for anyone except a skinny mini person so that space would be better utilized as kitchen or storage. Make one with no bath at all. Also get rid of the microwave and move fridge up higher and put a drawer below it. Now keep in mind at my age I would never buy something like this as I camp for 2 wks at a time so i want more space for me and my doodle. And I need a bathroom that is actually usable.
You can ceramic coat vinyl wrap that will block out the UV rays from the wrap. It will last a long time. It takes a special kind of ceramic coating. Not to expensive you can do it yourself or take it to a professional detailer that can do it also.

@@Erin-Thor It is awesome both rv's are different layouts. I am short so an east/west bed allows for more floor space for my big 4 legged "kiddo."

Looks great and really appropriate to go off grid in most US areas. Though it should have a Lock n Roll style hitch.

What do you recommend for payload on these? I have a Gladiator Mojave and I'm curious how it would do towing. Towing capacity is 6k. Thanks!
