Any of the videos where I have the wool in a bowl of soapy water and I am using hand manipulations, that is usually fully felted after that. If you find me on my FB page, I can help you out with a specific step. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090641751968&mibextid=ZbWKwL
These are generally used as Braid-ins extensions. If you watch my install video with my daughter you can see how they are used. This is a safe, protective hair style
Hi, some of my dartmore wool ends have gone a little frizzy/loose for lack of a better description during the dying process (I unfortunatly didnt have a big enough pot so i think this is why). Can I use coconut oil/oil mist to smooth them back out or will that ruin the wool?
So let them fully dry, then pinch the connection site with your fingers...then comb the loose end out. After, you can redip them in water and let them dry. That should do the trick!
I have real dreads and I love that you have added woolies too yours... could I ask pls how you did that... And OMG I LOVE that you added the HH to the ends... ive always been curious about that and if it would work x
I love having woolies for extensions. So I made SE woolies with one unfelted end. Then I teased the ends of my locs and crocheted the unfelted part of the woolies into my ends. Once crocheted, I sprayed each loc and palm rolled to felt. Then once I took a shower with hot water. I palm rolled vigorously to get the wool to felt around my natural hair. I have had 0 slippage 😊
@@hollysdreadfulcolors187 I need to try this as I have HH exentions in and they have almost vanished have the whispy ends... are they easy to change if you decide you want different x
@funkiemonkie79 well, they are crocheted in so it would take a bit to get them out but they will come out. Not as easy as braid-ins that's for sure lol mine have been in for 5 months and I really like them. I just gave them a trim and realized I kind of like the more Blunted ends!
@@hollysdreadfulcolors187 they are beautiful.. im really thinking about this to add onto mine... and they are more natural than the synthetics ive been looking at and lighter too, so of my dreads are quite thin at the root end so I'm thinking of weight also.... x
@funkiemonkie79 those were my thoughts too! I am noticing since I trimmed that my natural locs are thickening up a bit...so definitely don't make them too long
Just wanted to say thanks for doing these videos, you’ve answered so many questions that I’ve had so far on my journey to diy wool dreads! From what wool to choose to techniques to really personalise my dreads to my liking. One question I still have though is about water temperature. I notice you don’t use the boiling water in a pot method that I’ve seen so many others do - (that’s a plus imo!) but I do wonder how hot is the water you’re using? Is it just hot hot water from the tap (hot to the point you couldn’t really wash dishes in a sink of it without your hands going red)? Or lukewarm? Or somewhere in the middle? and is there actually any benefits to using boiling water instead? (All I can think of is the risk of scalding myself. I’m pretty clumsy. I guarantee that pot of water won’t just be on my dreads 😂) I also worry boiling water would be too hot for the wool and will ruin something D: so if I can just use hot tap water I’m all for it 😁
Great question! So, when I fill my soapy water bottle up initially for my first roll, I use hot water from.the tap. Eventually it gets cold and I'll still use it until its gone, even if it's the next day. For the second roll I used to boil my water, soak my woolies till I could touch them with dish gloves, but it was a pain. So now I just get my tap water as hot a possible, add soap...soak my woolies and roll/texture them that way.
@@hollysdreadfulcolors187 that’s brilliant 😁 hot soapy water in a spray bottle it is! Less chance of me doing myself an injury 😂 Loving the videos and tutorials, I find you very easy to watch and follow ☺️
Thank you! I‘m learning to make my own wooldreads, so I can have more variety for less money and I was able to learn so much from your videos!
Is there a video of how to finish the dreads?? So they wont pull apart

What sort of pad are you using to roll the wool please ?
Imma see what kind of extensions you can use this procedure on.

@winterbadger9997 for sure! The spray bottle does not felt the wool fully though. So it's a combo of that and Then a bowl of pretty hot soapy water.
