What is a turtle roll?
The turtle roll, also known as the Eskimo roll, is a surfing technique that allows you to get past the breaking waves in challenging conditions, especially when it's closing out and the waves hit the overhead mark.

Amazing. Very well done. I’ve been surfing 40 years & the duck dive (short board) and Turn Turtle (long board) are both a challenging learn. Each have their own nuisances & subtle differences. But your pushing a damn boat under a decent sized breaking wave. Bravo !!!!
It beats having the boat upended and pushed over backward or turned sideways and forcibly rolled over in whitewater surf. Works with surfboards too.

Those waves need a duck because there’s not enough speed to paddle through them. Everyone knows to paddle hard into waves. The duck works in scenarios like this. After a few sets, home free open ocean

I have a question - there doesn't seem to be much time to progress between rolls. How long did it take to get free of the area?
The set would finish and there would be a period to make progress.

I think it's a game. If a kayaker wanted to go through a breaking wave, he would find the moment of breaking the wave and go through it quickly. The broken wave is much weaker.

So if u don’t do that will the wave fuck u up? I remember swimming in the ocean, jumping too early trying to ride a wave but taking a huge wave impact dead on. In .1 seconds I remember being hit so hard and at the same time being dragged through the sand at the bottom of the ocean on my back. It was so scary just being pinned under there not being able to get free. Finally When the weight was lifted I remember swimming to the top of the water, which felt like slow motion. I remember being at my last breath and not knowing when I’ll reach the surface. When I finally reached it I swam to shore which was so difficult and painful, when I got there I just laid on the shore, on my side for like 20 minutes while the waves just kept hitting me, lol. The next day my back looked like I was dragged through the concrete on my back. I don’t fuck with the ocean anymore after that
Similar but but to a lesser extent happened to me. I was boogie boarding at the beach one time jumped to early and got pushed under by a wave and got pushed around a bit. Thankfully when I was flipped I didnt hit my head. But yea dont mess with the ocean
it would probably hurt and start surfing him backward, but so long as his sprayskirt doesn't implode he should be able to roll up and be fine. Then again I can't tell exactly how big these waves are and I guess it is possible that he could be knocked unconscious in a worst-case scenario
Is like Will Meyer say. It will surfing me backwards and you get a litle hammered! Not to bad. The wave height maybe around 3 meter.
And the periode will also count in how powerful it will hit! On this day it was good!👍😊

How does your kayak not fill with water?
We use spray deck of neopren with bungee cord. That cover the opening in the kayak.

If you done kayaking before imagine leaning backwards with body and paddle when up side down to use paddle circle rotation to swivel your self up. it's hard even in calm waters to perform which means got get flip under first.
You can't really do hard rapid rivers without knowing how to unflip yourself on your own which what explained in the comment you replied to. failing to do it will cause in dying which is trying too hard to die.@@politelyvulgarvernacular
