This is no NBA today without Elgin Baylor. Go watch any highlights you choose with LeBron or Kobe or Jordan. Elgin was doing that stuff, way back in the 60s. And the younger we've gotten the more forgotten he's become and that's an absolute total crime.
I grew up in So Cal and got to see Baylor and West in person three times. Both were amazing but as Max said, Elgin was doing MJ & Doc before they did and was a far better rebounder than either of them. Many forget that he led the NCAA in rebounding at least once. Easy to make the case for a top ten (non big). To parapharse Chick Hearn.........."Lakers into the front court, Baylor yo-yo the dribble. Now he goes left, fakes Lucas into the popcorn machine, he's in the air, haaaaaangs, puts it in with the left hand"
Still holds the record for most points scored in an Nba Finals game with 61 points and 22 boards, before in induction of the 3 point line. Rest in Peace
Elgin started his career late too at 24 , can u imagine him or wilt coming into NBA at 20? You can make a case that prime Elgin pre knee injury was better than Jordan....I think he still holds finals record of 61 pts vs one of best defensive teams in league history
Max has a point about the upper echelon of NBA players. He got most of them right, but I would replace Moses with Dr J. It's 15 players and most people don't disagree about them, just the order. 1. MJ 2. Kareem 3. LeBron 4. Russell 5. Wilt 6. Magic 7. Bird 8. Kobe 9. Shaq 10. Duncan 11. Hakeem 12. Oscar 13. West 14. Dr. J 15. Elgin Honorable mentions to the 2 Malones and Durant.

Elgin Baylor only played 48 games in the 1961 season and only on weekends because he was in the army. Still averaged 39 and 19 🔥
