One of the best talks ever! So profound and spot on, and truer today than ever. I miss Elder Maxwell so much, and wonder what he would say today.

I have spent the last few months listening to Elder Maxwells talks. There is an intensity that is found here. Layers and layers of spiritual wisdom. I have listened to all of the apostles and prophets of the Latter Day Saints. As one whom is in a refiners fire, it is my humble testimony that these concepts are true. There is much here to ponder. It is pure and concentrated truth from God to his children. If you are on a path that takes you through the pain and challenges of mortality as We all go through may I voice a humble thought. God loves us and wants us to succeed more than we want us to succeed. Stay the course of righteous. Repent and press forward until the judgement bar of Christ. Peace to all my brothers and sisters of humanity and humankind. God bless us all.

Thank you for sharing your comments...I feel your pain as I'm living daily in the furnace of affliction

@@elizabethwutzke9040 I live many afflictions and troubled things in my life, I guess some people would see them as afflictions. I have learned to look at them as just another obstacle in life I need to deal with and always be grateful for this vital obstacle, they are always a learning moment. I don't see them anymore as a hardship. I'm thankful every single day and doom and gloom don't get in the way as long as I'm grateful every single day. It is a piece of mind and a joy. I tried to honor my Father and my Lord everyday by trying to serve others.

I too love this simple yet sublime message. I have a friend in the church 33 years old and is sweet, kind , thoughtful with many other wonderful wonderful qualities. She has left the church a few years ago because of questions she cannot find answers to. Her young daughter is going blind due to a congenital disease. This mother’s pain of grieving is intense What can I say ? How can I do ?

Mortality is an endurance race. Everything comes "in process of time". Challenges like these are happening all around us. The question we need to ask ourselves is... will we stay the course even when we're faced with our tiny cups and the shame of our crosses? It's a difficult matter when these things happen. Importantly, we must remember that the story of her life isn't finished. Life is the schoolmaster and she's enrolled to learn some things about herself. Be patient, love her, pray and fast for her and stay connected. Let the learning happen for a season and then see how it all turns out.

I’d tell her about some of the apostles that had illness and died. Or you could tell her how Joseph smith the prophet had children die. The prophet of god wasn’t spared from terrible suffering. Then share the D&C verse that says all these things shall give you experience and shall be for your good. The son of man hath descended below all things. Art though greater then he? It’s a powerful verse found somewhere in D&C Section 120-124.

@@koltoncrane3099I believe it’s 121, the same as the title “But for a small moment” it’s in those verses we learn how to endure. Thanks for sharing 😊

Everyone has questions and that will always be. There is deep doctrine questions Also, and some of these questions cannot be answered by man. It will take the Holy Ghost to answer these questions. Sometimes it takes fasting and prayer
and real intent mostly patience. Some answers may be a lifetime away and you can't jump ship just because you have no more patience.

This sacred address was interrupted all through it by a child’s complaints. Wonder why its parents didn’t take it out to the foyer.

When attending BYU, I remember returning home for the Holidays. The sound of the children was like the sounds of Angels. I am sure if the Saviour was attending this sacred address, the last thing he would do is send the parents and crying child out of his presence. We all have to endure many things as the address reminds us. I am sure a crying baby is down on the list of things we have to endure.
