Ok As grand-daddy, I have this to say. Everyone seems to have a favorite era of yes they like. However, I guess I'm a loner that has appreciated every era of yes. I do have favorite albums TALK is one of them.

I also have all of their albums and I agree that this is one of their best works. I haven't decided my number one between Drama, Close to the edge, 90125 or Talk. Why there are Yes' fans who don't like this album?.
I, too, am a yeswhole. :-) I love Time and a Word, Fragile, GFTO, Drama, 90125, ABWH, Talk, Magnification, and Fly From Here. The music has always given me great joy, and it always will.

Yes you must be kidding because I have been watching all concert and this is where Jon's voice is spot on (better than "I am waiting" or "The Calling"). Not flat at all, hitting highs. Having in mind this is a TV broadcast mix and his voice is very exposed the imperfections are minimal. Great performance.
This is the first Yes CD that I really connected with. As such it stands as a timeless favourite of mine. I can't find it in me to hate it for any reason.
Couldn't agree more with you.I'm a guitarist for the past 26 years and can say that Trevor is a much superior guitarist than Howe...I love them both, but Trevor is a very strong musician in all fields of music.
o yes tem outra cara com rabin as musicas tem energia talk melhor album do yes desde os primeiros albuns classicos ,soa moderno, progressivo . as musiicas tem magia .
Like the material or not, the band might have performed their material as well as ever on this tour. Rumor has it that Squire and White started rehearsing 6 months before the tour even began and many weeks before the rest of the band started practicing. It shows! Anderson's voice was awesome on this tour.
I would have loved to heard the next album this line up would have done. Rabin was shedding his 90125 balls to the wall sound and really growing at this point of Yes. 1yesfan
I agree with most pro90125 fans here. I don't get the anti-Rabin feel. Talk is my all time favorite Yes disc ( and I have them all ). There is something extra special in that disc that wasn't promoted right. It really is a piece of pure beauty.
Talk was a great album but it wasn't really promoted at all. I got a video from the Binghamton NY date on the tour, and they played great! In fact, Awesome! People always wanna bash Trevor Rabin because he wasn't Steve Howe. He didn't need to be. He was Trevor Rabin! Tony Kaye is a great keyboardist too. He wasn't as much into the synths as Rick Wakeman, he was more into the pure Hammond B3 and nobody plays it better!
Great video - thanks. RE: Power of Real Love Live? Check the FM based CD boots of this tour - incredible power comes right through: awesome, rhythm of love was never better than this tour. Never gonna get that power on compressed video. Ironically, this clip is superb for 'getting' what Chris Squire is all about: this is a masterclass in how underscore a song with a few well chosen bass notes: gotta love it.
The instrumental "restart" passage starting around 6:20 (minus vocals and improvs) would be a fine opening-credits score for a movie of one of Tolkien's yet-unfilmed legends (War of the Jewels etc.)... you can hear the jewels glittering... : )

@yesshows100 I gues its all about the one that gives chills..if you have a chance listen to Trevor's solo stuff..Did you know that the music in most movies of todays is made by Trevor rabin? He left Yes in 1995 and started scoring. He has a new Jazz album coming soon as well.
@stevezane I agree. I'm not going by the magazine. Seeing is believing! 1971 -1979. Steve Howe from 1989 - current is a shell of himself. Starting with ABWH I knew it was over! I have friends that play guitar that thought Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton were the best ever, until they saw YES in the 1970's.
Can we just agree trevor Rabin can't play like Steve Howe, and Steve Howe can't play like trevor, because their 2 completely different guitarists.....2 completely different styles Okay guys????
@Jedizen07 Sorry I wrote in spanish. But basically I'm saying the same I wrote on my other comment. I also state, with this album, it seems to me, Rabin got it right, this time 100%, what Yesmusic is all about. And that's what makes this album such a masterpiece.
anderson ,squire e rabin se acertaram finalmente e veio essa obra prima que é talk .jon anderson brigava com squire e rabin mais jon anderson reconhecia o talento de rabin nao e a toa que eles se juntaram a wakerman .
@KingProgdor I always felt a real gut reaction to this record, too. Partially it was when it came out in my life (I was 17), but something real powerful about the sound and total effect of it. This is my favorite track on the album, and I never thought it would work live, as "Talk" is such a studio-centric recording. I was wrong!
But to say Trevor SAVED Yes I disagree. Chris Squire is the one who has always held Yes together. Keeping the home fires burning. Yes Trevor had a lot to do with Yes' success in the 80's and early 90's. But you have to remember that the Union Tour in the late 80's wouldn't have happened if Jon AND Chris hadn't met and played the music they were creating as ABWH and Yes and decided to all tour as yes . . . Union is a good album as well.
This is when Jon said he and Trevor were actually more on the same page musically. Jon was no big fan of the 90125/Bg era, even though there is some awesome stuff on those cd's
You can't compare Babe Ruth (Steve Howe) to a little league player, Trever Rabin. All I know is this. When I saw Yes with Steve Howe in 1979, people walked out saying Howe is the greatest ever! Noone said that about Trever after the show. He was very sloppy during Yours is no disgrace. I love 90125, Big Generator and Talk. I think Trever is great, but Steve Howe is from another planet!! Watch the intro to Close to the Edge 1975, Queens Park, Trever's fingers would fall off trying to do that!
The Talk Tour was sparsely attended, no more than any of the tours that followed. Whether or not it's fair, Yes fans are far too ingrained in the Steve Howe/Wakeman version of Yes and the rich history of the 1970s that put Yes on the map. They never embraced the Rabin/Kaye 90125 version as much - it's a fact.
M.T. Keg not sure I agree. 90521 Tour was a tough ticket to get, perhaps b/c of the success of owner, but I noticed a half full audience. Keep in mind that the Relayer filled JFK stadium in Phila.100,000 strong.
Age probably has something to do with it. I kind of blame Union though. Most of the hardcore and older fans got off the Yes bus and seemed to have gotten fed up with the band at that point and didn't want to have anything to do with the band when they found out that Trevor was not going to replace Steve Howe. However, even when Trevor left and Steve came back even the keys albums couldn't convince many of them to come back to Yes. Weird. I've always been there(well, not always but since the eighties). Anyway, after Union they just couldn't connect with newer fans and Talk wasn't promoted very well and apparently only sold 150,000 to 200, 000 copies in the US. I remember some of the songs especially "the calling" and "walls" receiving heavy radio airplay but I guess that wasn't enough. I saw the tour also and I agree that it was sparsely attended. There were only about 1,800 people there compared to 6,000 from a few years earlier. Anyway, yeah I agree that most of the older Yes fans didn't embrace the later stuff including the Rabin era. Is it a fact? Not sure about that because it was a mostly older crowd who attended the ARW tour I saw. However, I'll admit many of them gave a lukewarm response to most of the post seventies stuff though.
That wasn't relayer. That was the solo albums tour from 1976 where Yes played in front of about 120,000-130,000 thousand at JFK and while plenty of people were probably there for Peter Frampton Yes were the headliners(of course).
The reason Talk failed commercially is because America's obsession with grunge had killed quality rock music by 1994. And the granddaddies took this failure as an opportunity to attack Rabin and force him out of the band. After his exit, Yes released albums which only couple hundred people heard or cared for. Bring Rabin back, and Yes will be relevant again!
@stevezane Trever is great but, Howe was voted "Best Overall Guitarist" in Guitar Player magazine five years in a row 1977-1981 and was inducted into Guitar Player's "Gallery of Greats" in 1981.The only other two guitarists to win the "Best Overall Guitarist" category for the "Gallery Of Greats" are Steve Morse and Eric Johnson. Gibson Guitar Corporation,, said that Howe "elevated rock guitar into an art form" and "helped define a new style of music known as art rock. Trever Who!
@MrDaveintampa How can you deny that, when 80% of the music from the albums in which he was involved are his inspirations Agreed, Chris is the one who held YES together (or at least the brand name rights) but what he did is just recruiting first Rabin and then Sherwood to keep the sound of "the band" (brand) updated and fresh That's not a savior. If you ask me, that's being opportunistic (or visionary perhaps) And you need to take notice how many years are between Drama and Union
@yesshows100 I'll be honest with you..I find all these magazines not very credible..You can ask many guitar players out there what we think about polls.Howe is by far the best guitar player..I can give you names that would make How a joke.Trevor Rabin was always an underated guitar player..only guitar players really understand what Trevor is all about.
Jan Davis Trevor Rabin left the band as did Tony Kaye in 1995 at the end of the Talk your. Trevor was offered to do some very lucrative movie soundtrack work. Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman rejoined Yes soon after marking the return of the 70's line up for the Keys to ascension albums.
@lovehewitt1fan Because it comes with the stigma of being a "Rabin era" album. Is a shame they still don't give the credit Rabin deserves. Hey! you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Even if these are excellent or better than the ones they've learned. Saying the "real" YES died with Tormato is so stupid and short sighted. How could possible the creativity of musicians of their caliber could be done by their thirties? I think they really bought that "Punk killed Prog" mantra BS
TerryFinley1 of our time together to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something similar situation in which he has to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or sometimes a lot to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have the time to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something and you have to tonight or something I am so sorry to tonight or something and you have the eight idi
You must be a grand dad to say this about Trevor my friend...he is a much more versatile player than How...get over the fact that grand dad Howe is not here and open yourself to music a bit more..no need to be conservative.
This isn't Yes. I hardly hear Squire...and when I do, it just doesn't feel like him. And the songs all seem very weak. Talk is one of the lowest points of the Yes career...along with Tormato (though it has ONE song that puts it a notch above Talk)
@@johncoviello8570 Exactly. Though I can also tolerate "Release, Release"...but, overall, the album is not up to snuff. For me, Talk as a whole is even worse.
Trevor Rabin . One of the world`s best guitar players. Awsesome.
This was a great period for Yes. One of their best records, and this lineup was great live!
Real Love and Shoot high should be on the set list the next time ARW tours.
RIP chris squire, former bassist of yes. 1948 - 2015.
Dear chris, where ever you are now, I hope up there.
Bassists only have a reputation for supporting their guitargods with their four strings.
But there are also independent ones, which together with the drummers form a
warming camp fire, where the soloists warm up to their brilliance, the "rhythm
section".
And together, a band can then take off to heaven. And take us, their fans, with them. You were one of these independent bassists. Music is a community work. For this my thanks and a good luck farewell.

nem foi isso a gravadora faliu e o album ficou esquecido por nao ter tido divulgaçao como merecia .
Heaviest YES song 4:33
who is the second guitarist, Billy Sherwood?
@stevezane
Trever is great but, Howe was voted "Best Overall Guitarist" in Guitar Player magazine five years in a row 1977-1981 and was inducted into Guitar Player's "Gallery of Greats" in 1981.The only other two guitarists to win the "Best Overall Guitarist" category for the "Gallery Of Greats" are Steve Morse and Eric Johnson. Gibson Guitar Corporation,, said that Howe "elevated rock guitar into an art form" and "helped define a new style of music known as art rock. Trever Who!
Santiago, Chili ? like Chili Pepper ? It's CHILE, my friend.
Hard to tell what is actually music and what is backing track.
@MrDaveintampa How can you deny that, when 80% of the music from the albums in which he was involved are his inspirations
Agreed, Chris is the one who held YES together (or at least the brand name rights) but what he did is just recruiting first Rabin and then Sherwood to keep the sound of "the band" (brand) updated and fresh That's not a savior. If you ask me, that's being opportunistic (or visionary perhaps) And you need to take notice how many years are between Drama and Union
Trevor must miss playing with Chris.
Allan white put on a fuckinh clinic in 94
Yes, incompleto sin Cris Squire, tan necesario como la voz de Jon Anderson.
Rabin was forced out of Yes? How did it happen?
Jan Davis Trevor Rabin left the band as did Tony Kaye in 1995 at the end of the Talk your. Trevor was offered to do some very lucrative movie soundtrack work. Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman rejoined Yes soon after marking the return of the 70's line up for the Keys to ascension albums.
thanks
@@timjackson3931
@@timjackson3931Thank God for that! Seeing the 70s Yes back together around the turn of the century was incredible!
Chile, english way to say it. But there is other languages, my friend.
Allen white
WOW! Jon's flat all over the place here! They should get Benoit...just kidding! just kidding.
This is not from ur mom nor ur dad

loses all its power live, don't know why.
Was better with two guitars
You must be a grand dad to say this about Trevor my friend...he is a much more versatile player than How...get over the fact that grand dad Howe is not here and open yourself to music a bit more..no need to be conservative.
This isn't Yes. I hardly hear Squire...and when I do, it just doesn't feel like him. And the songs all seem very weak. Talk is one of the lowest points of the Yes career...along with Tormato (though it has ONE song that puts it a notch above Talk)
REAL LOVE & ONWARD (TORMATO ) are two of my favorite songs of ALL TIME> Not just YES songs.
What song is that from Tormato you speak of? Is it On The Silent Wings of Freedom?
@@johncoviello8570 Exactly. Though I can also tolerate "Release, Release"...but, overall, the album is not up to snuff. For me, Talk as a whole is even worse.
