Oh. My. God. Isn't this the most perfect, most disarming, most sorrowful, most - beautiful, song ever written...? And did you hear that sound...? It was the breaking of my soul. I am in pieces every time I listen to this perfection. This is love - and loss - personified. It is the brilliance of a heart that has burst.
I know exactly how you feel! I saw and heard him live in memphis on Nov 12th, 2015 for his My Favorite Faded Fantasy Tour. I can't stop thinking about it. He is. Indescribable. .
+Meiacoffeestain I saw him in Houston in September. I was in the second row, and it was the most captivating and emotional concert that I have ever been to!
I saw him in Ferrara in 2012, I went with my wife, she was pregnant, with my accidental baby. She is now 6, she is my miracle, I am still with her mother , and yes, I had another accidental baby.
And as I sit here in 2020 amidst a world which is on fire and already full of so much sorrow, its is the sorrow of this beautiful song that even after all these years still has a way of pulling me apart whilst putting me back together. Timelessly perfect.
I hadn't really paid attention to this song before. It's disarming and it pierces through your heart with every verse. You can feel the pain, grief and despair. Absolutely perfect and it does take you to deep and dark places in your mind and heart you thought you wouldn't go back to.
Such a beautiful song, this is up there with Cold Water and Greatest Bastard. Damien is an absolute genuis and Lisa was the most perfect partner for him.
i love his music and performance so much. he cares neither his performance impeccable nor meticulous, but always gives every performance soul or room for slience or lament if it needs, which makes his music alive… so talented!
Why am I just realizing how indescribable this song is? I mean my stomach is in knots; my heart is breaking; my brows are furrowed; and if I don't let out a big breath I'm going to cry. The melody is melancholy and I want to learn how to play it on the piano and guitar and I barely play those instruments at all.
I like Nic Harcourt and I loved the Morning Becomes Eclectic show as it exposed so many good artists to me such as Tina Dico and Polly Paulusma but chiming in with KCRW station info during the final minute of this incredible performance is unforgivable.
I wish they made a recording of this without the commentary! This is soooo sooo breathtaking (and tastefully painful to bear in one's soul), love the piano and cello combination too.. and the rawness he add to it.. his accents.. and the "do you feel like you belong?" at 5:21.. It hurts. To the core of my being. It hurts.
Well I held you like a lover Happy hands, your elbow in the appropriate place And we ignored our others Happy plans for that delicate look upon your face Our bodies moved and hardened Hurting parts of your garden With no room for a pardon In a place where no one knows what we have done Do you come Together ever with him? And is he dark enough? Enough to see your light? And do you brush your teeth before you kiss? Do you miss my smell? And is he bold enough to take you on? Do you feel like you belong? And does he drive you wild? Or just mildly free? What about me? Well you held me like a lover Sweaty hands And my foot in the appropriate place We use cushions to cover happy glands In the mild issue of our disgrace Our minds pressed and guarded While our flesh disregarded The lack of space for the lighthearted In the boon that beats our drum Well I know I make you cry And I know sometimes you wanna die But do you really feel alive without me? If so, be free If not, leave him for me Before one of us has accidental babies For we are in love Do you come Together ever with him? Is he dark enough? Enough to see your light? Do you brush your teeth before you kiss? Do you miss my smell? And is he bold enough to take you on? Do you feel like you belong? And does he drive you wild? Or just mildly free? What about me? What about me?
Does anyone know how to edit this song so as to cut off the last 45 seconds so that the guy isn't talking. Because this is truly the best version of the song I have ever heard. You can tell that Damien is truly feeling and thinking about the inspiration for this song as he plays and sings. It is heart-wrenching. and beautiful.
Every version of the lyrics says "the "boon' that beats our drum" But it's "boom" right? It has to be boom. I don't know why this is so important to me lol.
90% of this album is about him cheating. This song in particular is about him (again) cheating and being pissed he didn’t get chosen in the end. It’s funny to me cus this was like people who love the song “Lips of n Angel”.
Is he dark enough to see your light?
--just right to my heart!--
🥺
One of the best lines ever written

I totally agree with you... There is no word to describe this song
It's one of those songs that just pull out your deepest and most hidden emotions. It's mesmerizing and heartbreaking, yet so beautiful.
John Williams me too
says the man who wrote the star wars soundtrack... ;)
Brother, you're a poet
I think the majority of us have concluded that around 80% of his stuff since 'O' has focused on one relationship in particular.
I think the majority of us respect artists enough not to speculate about their private business and gossip about their personal trauma.
Seeing him live last night ruined me for ever. How will it ever get better than that?

It will not...
Still in love with song after so many years
Me too - most favourite ever. No doubt in my mind. :)

Timelessly perfect.
Stunning song, so moving, so emotional and so sad. Leonard Cohen would be proud to have made this. That's the highest compliment I can give it.
It a great compliment.
Just crying, for the beautiness of his voice and intensity.

I cannot describe with words the beauty behind that ending section with the cello
Hearing this song physically hurt my heart and soul. I'm crying.
+Meiacoffeestain take it easy please, all things have a solution.
If only.
I'm in your crying club, too.... ; (
*****
Damien will do that to you. Especially this song.
Such a beautiful song, this is up there with Cold Water and Greatest Bastard. Damien is an absolute genuis and Lisa was the most perfect partner for him.
thats because most of Damien Rices songs use the same chord progression but he does a great job doing it!
His beautiful hands! His voice! THESE DAMN LYRICS. Doesn't get any better than this.
i love his music and performance so much. he cares neither his performance impeccable nor meticulous, but always gives every performance soul or room for slience or lament if it needs, which makes his music alive…
so talented!
these lyrics just hit me right in my soul

they cleaned it up elsewhere
@@chrispaul7849 yes I have that version but it cuts off the last minute of the song.
Whoever disliked this has probably gone through a really bad breakup and this made them consider giving up on life.
Or perhaps has just got shit for brains and/or no heart and soul...
+John Williams that's another possibility lmao

Finally....a studio version of this song. Love love love!
The most emotional performance I've ever heard
Masterpiece. As I listened to this version.... I cried.

How many complicated relationships has mr rice had? Every song is so sad, but real.
Thank you so much uploader! so relieving. I was looking for this video ever since KCRW removed it. :D
Nic Harcourt adds a lot to the song with the way he spells the numbers!!!
Speechless......
A masterpiece.
Well I’ve overcome depression, and here I find myself again .

elbows and feet on the appropriate place
Bellísima 🎶🎶🎶💝
Perfect.
duele tanto esta song:(
Yo amo a "tu accidental baby"... Tranquillo y Adiós para el Infinito!!!!!!!!
Well I held you like a lover
Happy hands, your elbow in the appropriate place
And we ignored our others
Happy plans for that delicate look upon your face
Our bodies moved and hardened
Hurting parts of your garden
With no room for a pardon
In a place where no one knows what we have done
Do you come
Together ever with him?
And is he dark enough?
Enough to see your light?
And do you brush your teeth before you kiss?
Do you miss my smell?
And is he bold enough to take you on?
Do you feel like you belong?
And does he drive you wild?
Or just mildly free?
What about me?
Well you held me like a lover
Sweaty hands
And my foot in the appropriate place
We use cushions to cover happy glands
In the mild issue of our disgrace
Our minds pressed and guarded
While our flesh disregarded
The lack of space for the lighthearted
In the boon that beats our drum
Well I know I make you cry
And I know sometimes you wanna die
But do you really feel alive without me?
If so, be free
If not, leave him for me
Before one of us has accidental babies
For we are in love
Do you come
Together ever with him?
Is he dark enough?
Enough to see your light?
Do you brush your teeth before you kiss?
Do you miss my smell?
And is he bold enough to take you on?
Do you feel like you belong?
And does he drive you wild?
Or just mildly free?
What about me?
What about me?
❤
5.50 the grace of the man

someone upvote this
Do you come together ever with him ? When u ask yourself this, it's already too late ...
Do you miss my smell ? What about me ?
I wonder if there's a way to filter out the voice at the end... Anyone?
one is more than enough, believe me...
for real? are you gonna post a video of it? I would love to see it.... This is one of the songs I play regularly.
So both of you can open and close and open and close and open and close your both eyes repeatly?
Every version of the lyrics says "the "boon' that beats our drum" But it's "boom" right? It has to be boom. I don't know why this is so important to me lol.
where can i find this in higher quality?

Did she wear that too when you were having a kind of streching?
Absolute whopper talking over the final part . Brain of a kipper
Do you miss my smile...... :)

Definitely influenced by Jacques Brel. In particular, "Ne Me Quitte Pas"

Damien,i wonder, about the dress, kaos belahan luas that Lisa wore to show me that she is way better than me..

What a pity the DJ kills the vibe at the end.
So not perfect then?!
i just realize this song is about sex.
