    I’ve had a hard time picking up books lately. I’ve been struggling a lot and I keep talking myself out of reading because “I don’t have time” or “I have other, more important things to do”. But this reminded me that books and reading are important, they’re important to me, and they’re important to my mental health. Thank you for reminding me, Jesse 💙

    That made me feel so emotional 🥲 This past month I've reread a lot of books I loved while I was younger (and I still adore) and it got me thinking about how reading those books made me another person, they shaped my worldviews and my sense of humour, and reading itself shifted my priorities and personality. There's so much joy and comfort in words and I keep being surprised at how much they can change us.

    There are so many books that have impacted me, but I think the one that will stick with me the most is Loveless by Alice Oseman. Reading a book where the main character feels the same way I do about sex, made me feel better about myself and not alone. Absolutely loved the vibe of this video, excited to see what other things are in store for this year.

    A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard impacted my life a lot. I read it at a low point in my life, when my anxiety and depression were through the roof and I felt incredibly alone. A Quiet Kind of Thunder was the first book I read where I truly saw my anxiety represented on the page. I’d read other books with mental health rep before, but this one, but there was something about this one that had me nodding and feeling validated in a way I hadn’t before. The anxiety was not romanticized, minimized, or “cured” by love. It was there and tackled with such care that I finished the book in tears.
    Anyways, y’all should read A Quiet Kind of Thunder if you haven’t already.

  • @annaboo27
    @annaboo27 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Choosing the quiet..choosing books. That just resonated so much. This was a wonderful video…thank you.❤
    Too many books have impacted me to list…mostly because the impact wasn’t just one thing. Having Crohns means sitting a lot :cough: you probably know where :cough: lol There’s also the chronic pain… but, books were always there to draw me out of all of that. I will say (it’s a crime if I don’t!) The late great Anne McCaffrey was truly my first love. Dude. Dragons! To fly and commune with dragons. Yes, please! To teleport and communicate across worlds…I’m there! And here I am still (pain at bay) with book in hand, still reading, and loving it all.

    I can't think of One specific book that was impactful to me, but a series.
    The Goosebumps series had probably the largest impact of my reading life as kid. Like many other kids, I was obsessed with these books. Granted I was a reader before picking up my first Goosebumps story because my family gave me the reading bug, but these books got me Excited to read. Even almost 30 years later, I still read these books occasionally.
    This was a beautifully made video BTW Jesse.

    The Magic Treehouse series was my first reading obsession. At one point I had been given all of the books that had been written, including the Merlin Missions. Those books made me so, so happy, and I read every one. Also on the list is The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. It's my comfort read, and I've read and listened to it many times. And the wording is so clever.☺️

    Let me say, you have no idea how many people you touch and what you mean to those people. I legitimately started reading again because of you. I wasn't on Book Tube at all when I clicked on your first video that I saw. Admittedly, I clicked on the video because I thought you were adorable in the thumbnail. I never thought I'd find a young man of such warmth, depth, compassion, empathy, and intelligence. Through you I have been introduced to many books that I would have never chosen on my own and I've been made richer by the experience. You and other youtubers such as Thomas Sanders just bring me absolute joy when I've had the worst days. You make me feel less alone and less afraid. Never underestimate what you do.

    This might be crazy to say but so many YA books have had an impact on my life. Watching the characters get through such terrible struggles, be themselves and come out stronger make me believe that I can do it to. Alot of people tend to under estimate how characters in novels can effect someone. Even if it is a YA book or a graphic novel, the characters in the story can truly speak to someone and make them feel connected and heard when they don't truly feel that, along with making them feel at peace when the world is litterally collpasing around them. That is the true power of books, along with the knowledge they give and the people they bring together. Books have more value to life than many would think.

    Jesse. Ive been subscribed to you for 2 and a half years now. And cant help to noticed like your going throw hard times. Rather is depresion, anxiety, or fear. Im sure that yaweh/god can help. He helps me cope a lot with my enxiety and is in charge of my life. Sometimes demons like-... looove to see us crying or in pain or doughting yaweh, (not saying your posed or nothing) and the only way to repent demons is with yaweh and love. Sounds corny i know. But this are words spoken by an ex-witch that now serves yaweh. Botom line is, spend a litle time with yaweh, reed the new testament, pray as nice as you can to him, or just be plain honest, open your hear and he will help you. It workt for me. Now i have the holly spirit in my life. The father, the sun and holly spirit. His promise. It guides me and is literarly yawehs presence. Supernatural. It feel like life and good and it fild me up one day, and i never want to live without it. The only way im happy is when im with it. And i wish for the same to you. Take care❤️

    Jesse, hey so I finished All My Rage by Sabba Tahir and I loved it 🥰 What a wonderful video and I completely I agree with you I choose quiet and for a long time reading has helped me escape reality, has helped me escape some of the lowest of lows in my life . I agree with you also books that cover serious topics like school shootings, etc need to talked about more and not pushed under the rug in my opinion . I would say the two books that impacted me the most are Anne Frank The Diary Of A Young Girl, and This Is Where It Ends since it covers the same topic but also to bring awareness that this is happening .
