My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

Canadian Tire has special paper liners for the air fryer. They catch everything and cleanup is a breeze.
I’ve see. The coffee filter like paper things for the Air-cookers, Available via Amazon. Size matters, in this case, sort. 😅
Just don't put them in while preheating the air fryer with nothing in it. It will catch fire. Ask me how I know. Lol.

Maybe Dixon should consider a new line of sleeveless shirts.
Get reusable silicone cupcake liners fill with cupcake muffin or cake mix ...frost add sprinkles make 4 at a time in air fryer ...yumm
Air fryer: My general rule is reduce instruction temp by 50, and start with 3/4 instruction time 😬

Hey Matthew! Have you ever thought of having a quilt made of the shirt sleeves? That way your cut off sleeves can do double duty and not go to waste. Even if you don't have enough sleeve material you can put a wide border color fabric to enhance the bright happy colors of the sleeves. A black or white border would bring out the bold colors. A professional quilter should be able to help with the border color. Maybe consider a crazy patch center medallion with a wide border of black would be a great choice because I see black in most of the shirts you selected for your DIY shirts. I had one done for my Mom from the baby clothes she saved, although I didn't actually use the clothing because Mom would have been very upset. We made a crib sized quild and bordered the outside in white because it enhanced the "baby clothing". Mom cried her eyes out thinking I had destroyed the clothing to make a quilt for her. When I told her that the clothes were fine, but all the pictures that I had taken were of the materials were for color samples for the quilter. I had it made because Mom was always cold in the evenings. It's just a thought.
It can also be put aside for Brooklyn as a wedding gift from her Daddy. But your experiment sounds like a pretty good idea too.

Use air fryer parchment liner just throw away afterwards, no cleansing unless it oily.

Good evening Matthew and Penny!! I cut my son's shirts like this a lot for summer and because he has a ton of tattoos he wants visible (he is a tattoo artist)! You are correct that the best way to cut the sleeves is on that seam, it makes sure that the remaining shirt stays in tact. Also I run hot and hate the heat!! I don't mind sweating from working hard but just standing still no thank you!! Today it was 91° F (32.78° C) in Scottdale, Pennsylvania. I use my air fryer for everything I can. I use the air fry setting unless I am baking cupcakes (which you can do in the air fryer). Also 400° is as high as they go! They have cookbooks out there for different things you can make! Love your show and wait impatiently daily for my notifications!!

I have seen car rebuilder shows where they have a seamstress who “Re-Upolstered the seats. 😮 t
they came out great, they re-stuffed foam and had all the ripe trimming, buttons or whatever. The one I’m remembering was a spica’s Asian woman. She gave him good prices. But my point is, you might want to inquire to a seamstress, of auto seats, or otherwise.
Also, alrenatively, you might like to go to fabric store, buy a foam pad, glue it in, and then go purchase a couple seat covers of your own liking and “really” DIY it yourself. Pretty simple and affordable.
Personally, I always liked the faux sheepskins, in Black. Maybe it was real, long time ago. It fit my Black classic ol’ BMW.

Top tip from an IT person: The macbook can lie back on it's screen with the keyboard side up at a 90 degree angle, and it makes it easier to clean. Stops the screen wobble. (this is also how repair techs deal with taking things apart for repairs). Mac is also glass screen so you don't need specific cleaner, any glass cleaner (or even your vinegar... haven't tried this one) will work

If you had one of those little DIY snap kits, you could easily make a couple of "matching bandanas" for Penny.
Jalapeño bites... you said they aren't really your thing. I haven't been to M+M Meats for a while but, their jalapeño poppers are BACON wrapped PEPPERS stuffed with CHEESE. Great on the bar-b-que, and I'm sure the bacon would cook even better in an air fryer... DELICIOUS! (they aren't dipped in batter, just to be clear).
'Air fry' setting will usually give you a crisper finish, than 'bake'. (plus it cooks faster).✌🏼🇨🇦
The world can learn alot about the way you vanlifers live! Saving on water, by using whipes instead of water, using vinegar instead of water for doing yoir dishes! And poop in a bucket! Right now Holland has gotten a warning due to water scarseness! The way we are using water and taking it for granted well now we will pay the consequenses! Love your Channel!❤
I use the same Corsori Air Fryer in my Van for Chips (Fries), Nuggets, Fish Fingers, and everything else that can be put into an oven. You can also use it to make Omlette's, simply by mixing everything up and pouring it into a Aluminium Foil Tray. Depending on what you cook (bread crumb or batter coated items are the best), you can just wipe the Ali tray clean, for another meal, and i also cook bacon and sausages in there but an ali tray will be toast afterwards due to the fat burned on to the foil, lol
The air fryer creates less mess, smell, and obviously not as dangerous as gas, so perfect for winter cooking (and all other seasons, lol) in the van, as less condensation.

Those GV Mozzarella sticks are the best! I always cook in the air fryer. Not a big fan of their marinara sauce, so ketchup it is. 👍 I also use paper air fryer trays, so clean up is a snap (one other sub mentioned these).

I use parchment paper in my air fryer. I cut a piece push it down in the basket cut the corners off. You can cook any thing in it that way , no mess.

Oh and yes, take 20% off any box instructions for time and temperature, at least. That is the standard as I know it. Great job cutting back on the time. The reason for the 400 degree max is they are much hotter than a conventional oven.

Re air fryer, hot dogs !!! You'll have grilled like hot dogs in winter. Haven't made mine any other way. And great for hash browns , grilled cheese sandwiches. Facebook also has an "easy air fryer recipe" page.

Congrats on the Air Fryer and Cali Nurse bought you a good name brand Cosori. I make all kinds of stuff in my air fryer, Best chicken wings and legs ever, yes and fries also sausage comes out really bitchin’. Just about anything you can think of. And much quicker than a conventional oven. ENJOY!

Did the same seat swap at wreckers. Cloth seats, had to shampoo them, but they were a huge improvement over our old ones. Found the wreckers on FB marketplace, and they let me know when they got a van in with decent seats in it. Ontario here. NIce thing about the Chevy Express, it doesnt change much and is everywhere.
if you use a little parchment paper on bottom of air fryer you won't have a big issue cleaning it

@VanlifePLUS, Matthew, other seats, Ford, Dodge, GMC Truck, will fit in Lucky. You detach the seat from the base and attach it to the base already in Lucky. I've done it with every one of my Ford vans. Also, look for a conversion van that has Captain's Chairs. Much more comfortable seats and they are built much better. GM and Ford Conversion Seats are the best for quality and comfort.
As an aside, line the bottom of the air fryer basket with parchment paper. Saves on having to clean.

Air with caution Air-frying equipment is not known to cause cancer, but the process of air frying does result in the formation of certain compounds, like acrylamide, that are linked to cancer development. 29:55 red light doesn't mess with your night vision like white light does. It's much easier on the eyes and you won't have to wait nearly as long, if at all for your eyes to readjust to the darkness

Hey there, I think you can use the passenger seat for the driver seat and vice versa with a few mods. They look very similar.
Look for an upholstery shop that can rebuild your seat.
Future Matthew Solution: Try a product on one setting, then try the same product on the other, then decide which worked better/fasrer and which version you liked better. Yummy 😋 (The air fry setting is going to be awesome for reheating leftover fries, fishsticks, etc - they will be crispy, not soggy!)

You can preheat for 5mins, otherwise just shove them in and don't cook them as long...lol...I use bake when it's a cake, biscuits, etc., airfry for the frozen stuff though

Go cloth bro. Keep your ass cooler. Simple as you and I have the same internal thermostat. Either way just make sure the seat is higher than factory. I use a bamboo pillow on top of the seat. Very comfortable and adjustable. Also easier to clean the pillow case. Just try it for a minute. I haven’t found anything better.

Try Dicks auto parts in Middlebury Indiana, they sell take off parts from Chevy vans that are converted into campers, most of the time they have brand new cloth seats that have been replaced with custom leather seats, I got a pair for my 2009 Chevy express for around $400- $500 for the pair. They are brand new
Express/savana seats will fit from 96-present. You can make passenger seats work for drivers side.ay back lever will be on wrong side but still works. Have found mounting holes on both sides under cover/ cushion. Not sure but gm prolly only makes one seat with provisions to be either side. Have put many passenger cover/foam cushions on the drivers side personally . Passenger side is always good shape it seems. Hope this helps..
