Is there anyone who could help me understand something - why are these techniques not done in - even somewhat - real time? It’s all so orchestrated and LARP-ish. Interested in thoughts here…
Showing and training is slow. Reality is fast. Bujinkan is 9 schools, 3 ninja-schools and 6 samurai-schools. One school has spezialized on breaking bones, not sure if it was Koppo-Ryu/Koppo-Jutsu, I forgot. Another school was about destroying muscles and flesh. In ancient times they exercised to sharpen their fingernails to rip off wood from the trees. Imagine that on skin. Now you ask for slow training-methods. But try to imagine somebody using full speed to break your bones and ripping off flesh. When I started my training, I gave a friend of mine a "lesson". I punched on his biceps with my knuckles and he couldnt barely move the arm, it was paralyzed. Now I dont know what you want. You exercise things slow and perform them faster when needed. The better you get, the faster you can perform. It's muscle-memory. You have to get a feeling for distance, timing and your body learns to take pain. If you never exercised, your body is in shock due to the unknown pain. Later you can take it easier. The technique begins with distance and directions. You wont let get an aggressive person too close. There is a lot too know and learn. For beginners it looks like that.
Because slow is for training, fast is for life and death situations. These techniques aren't sport application. They aren't for play. They are for survival and winning the fight at all costs. If you went fast in training you would run out of training partners very quickly.
@@oni_goroshi I hear that all the time but honestly I don’t buy into it. Watch tactical operators, law enforcement, special ops, etc. pressure test. They do it at a much more effective pace and realistic approach than these LARPers. Katana too deadly? Use a bokken. Don’t want to punch your partners face? Use headgear. There are so many holes in this “ninja” training and you see them all over the web when applied to real time situations. It doesn’t hold up against any real conflict and I wish it would stop branding itself as such.
