One thing I like about TATW that I wish DaC never changed was the ability to walk inside the Misty Mountains via a small path with mountains on either side.
It's also something that the DAC submod "Conflicts of Eriador" will also do with their own custom map. They are taking a fresh take on Eriador with many talented mappers and developers. I'm not part of them, but I'd recommend looking at the preview section of their discord, and my god at the plethora of new units that they have. That's one of the things that I absolutely hate about DaC, it really gives mountain factions a nice flavour, making them essentially able to traverse these harsh terrains without having to descend into the realms of others, truly lore friendly
I believe there was also one that led to Durthang from Cirith Ungol and into Mordor proper, which I found tied into the lore as it would've been a brilliant strategic play on the part of Gondor to utilize mountain passes to connect the fortifications created to watch over Mordor.
yeah they need work on their settlement names, and the game has tons of new scripts, which is cool, but there is reported to be little testing towards unit balance as the Orc units can currently best Elves in melee and a couple of historical inaccuracies on the map. (The lore freaks REEE'd very hard if you can imagine)
A very good Beta release to be sure. Very stable and enjoyable. one can feel the love that went into the production. my critique would be: - the stats are very raw till now : orc rabble archer: 5 missile attack; noldor archer: 6 missile attack. - The Rosters are interesting but have barely a unified design aside from United Kingdom. Really love the lore here. Well done. Also, seeing this campaign map really makes me appreciate the work that the DAC team has done bringing middle earth to life. Thankful the mod has come as far as it has.
Installed the mod this morning and started as the Elves of Lindon. Have to say the SHIFT+F1 control to see certain features for your faction is a great addition (Would it be something to inform about the faction's scipts for DaC?) Really looking forward to your campaign!

Would it somehow be possible that you do a similar vid on the first age? I know theres no mod (or maybe there is idk), but your soothing voice combined with this clear overview made this an excellent video. If there is no mod you could maybe use a map or something. I would love to but the First Age has so many "world events" that you could do four videos like this and the world would be in a different place each time. :P
@ hahah I mean I wouldnt mind 4 vids at all! You could even make it into a series if youd like, but I of course understand that the workload might be a bit much besides everything that you have going on already
There is in fact a mod being developed at the moment, quite a few actually, one has gotten far enough that it has playable factions for custom battles at the moment.
It sounds like a great new mod being born. I was curious if the Druedain could be made as a faction, forest factions with stone magic would sound nice ^^
@@darnokthemage170 Still do, they're sunbathing at the bottom of the map beneath Harad. I believe if any faction walks into Fangorn they are moved back into Fangorn.
I think in the Lord of the Rings Appendix it was mentioned that on top of the Weathertop stood a Watchtower perhaps even harbouring the Palantir since the days of Elendil! So yes, a version of Amon Sul exists... perhaps under another name!
I believe you are mistaken in regards to amon sul as my version of the first book mention that elendil looked for gil galad from it, in a poem or song.
4 ปีที่แล้ว +5
Ah indeed. Amon Sul was built by Elendil and it was not until the war with Angmar that the weather hills were fortified with defenses.
I've always wished we got to learn more about Rhun from Tolkien himself. I mean, from what we do know they are a civilised people, so it would be interesting to see how close they are with Sauron, and if that's ever lead to conflict within.
I am pretty excited for a Men of the Mountains playthrough, that or the Hillmen could be a lot of fun but the Hillmen might just be a bit too far away from the action.
Just a reminder for everyone, Med 2 total war is now at like 3 dollars, so if anyone, like me, was having problems with the LAA thing with DAC (because your game was cracked like mine :v) you can just buy the game for almost nothing ;)
I hate how little the silvan elves are a part of the tolkien story because I feel like there are so many of then that there is no way they haven't had a large effect on middle earth specifically
I was very excited for this mod and I must I am dissapointed. The balance is clearly lacking, wether it be units stats, costs, or just the economy in general. Everything is slow and empty, not enough regions, it is nothing like the DAC experience. I must also say the units designs are nothing crazy and even ugly for some factions when compared to others mods but I can understand that it is the hardest part to do. It is a beta but people like me really felt like it would be a detail when it is clearly not. I am still glad the mod is out, which means other will make submods that will greatly enhance any of the aspects I spoke about. Mods take a long time to be developped and can need several teams, this is probably what will happen with DCI too just like we saw with DAC.
DaC's map is too bigger this sort of campaign. It would take way too long for the elves and arnorians to get down from eriador to order for the war, and as they are supposed to be involved, it would be terrible design to have a map where it takes 20 turns to get where you need to be.
amazing sub mod, I really want that to be play by u one day.... Can u pls play also Dagor Silmarillion? Its about First Age and its amazing too! That 2 mods and Divide and Conquer are the reason I still play MTWII at this current days
4 ปีที่แล้ว +2
I am playing this submit on the channel right now. There are 4 videos already.
I've tried to install this mod several times with no joy, I have med 2 and kingdoms plus I also have the third age mod installed, do I require anything else ?
So, forgive my ignorance, but can you play DAC 4.5 and DCI Last Alliance without deleting one or the other? I want to play DCI but don't want to delete DAC? Thanks!
If it's the one that I'm thinking about then it's quite an incomplete mess( a pain to install and get to run too). if you're talking about sillmarillion total war then that looks to be shaping up to be an amazing mod.
It could have been made more interesting like it was fired from a cataput and took out most of his honor guard too. As it is it makes me think of the poor Uruk Hai holding the battering ram from Two Towers movie where he takes a stone to the face and falls over.
I must admit, I am curious how balancing will work in this mod, seems like most nation's are massive from the start. Some nation's too (like the two wood elven factions) do not seem to have tons of enemies around them. Also, any plans to share Nazguls? Would be pretty cool is DCI and DAC had the same back stories for them or at least shared names. But, overall, I am definitely looking to playing this mod!
I am pretty sure the capital of the high elves was in Forlond, instead of Mithlond, and actually the Numenorrean realms are just destroyed on all fronts, they don't do any units and don't have starting army. It would be good, if had not played mods with better textures and features like Dac before. It feels quite empty and boring to play. So an unbalanced and unfinished mod, but with a lot of potential. Also the the devs wanted to nerf the cavalry, but it is now so much fragile that you lost 1-3 models charging peasants archers with the bodyguards of Glorfindel The sole difficulty is the garrison-script of tatw vanilla, which is very powerful. The names of settlements are very unimmersive, the city of the heart of the Dorwinion region is called Dorwinion ? Uh, very disappointing
There are already a few mods on the first age, but the one I would recommend you to watch the advance is Silmarillion Total War, you can already see quite much of online battles on TH-cam. ( I am in some of them under the name of Urukaie :b )
@@iwalkalonelyroad111 there is one, but most units are just copy pasted from Third Age, and it is hard as fuck to get it working. Another one is in preparation. And Silmarillion Total War is working on a campaign
Med 2 engine can't really support First Age. Only Warhammer 2 Engine could support it. But sadly due to GW limitations. It can't be modded. As they don't let another IP change game. Maybe in 10 or more years after contracts expire we may get modding tools for that game.
@ Hmmm, point taken. Though you could try and pull a Cair Andros and place it in the middle of the Anduin, however that would have the city over-spilling onto the shore which is rather unaesthetic, or you'd have to create a noticable bulge in the river. If I had to out it on one side I'd choose the western bank.
There was a Lord of the Rings Total War mod for Rome TW. Osgiliath is a single city there. But it's like a village, no defences. A single city would also help with the lag. It would require a redesign of the battle map though. It's probably better like it is now.
I am afraid that DCI throw away most of its potentional, the middle earth feels empty for me, units have even more simple look than Third age, when the faction is divided like Numenorians,dwarves.. AI dont know how to play with it, economic page is horrible, even when you own whole eriador you cannot have even one full banner army because its economicaly ruins you, i really hope that they will continue whit they work like you with DAC, then it may it be very very good.
they should try and reduce corruption effect and distance to capital. Also, they should had more regions. And without a doubt improve unit stats and looks
I am so pissed off right now, leaving aside that its so barebones right now, completely unbalanced in terms of missile strength, cost of units and growth rates and lore crap, how is it fine to have random insta kill event like the bs dragon attack? no notification ever that it even exists. i have already turned off stuff like this, durins bane and so on. lost faction leader, a bunch of generals and an end game stack for nothing including the settlement. such bullshit cant even reload the autosave cause it just ends up before the "battle" which youre forced to loose. im so done, this needs like years more work or just take stuff from dac.
Suprise to be sure but a welcome one

I think in the Lord of the Rings Appendix it was mentioned that on top of the Weathertop stood a Watchtower perhaps even harbouring the Palantir since the days of Elendil!
So yes, a version of Amon Sul exists... perhaps under another name!
Check the pinned comment.
I believe you are mistaken in regards to amon sul as my version of the first book mention that elendil looked for gil galad from it, in a poem or song.
Ah indeed. Amon Sul was built by Elendil and it was not until the war with Angmar that the weather hills were fortified with defenses.
This is a lovely video
I've always wished we got to learn more about Rhun from Tolkien himself. I mean, from what we do know they are a civilised people, so it would be interesting to see how close they are with Sauron, and if that's ever lead to conflict within.
The forces of good look way overpowered.
I am pretty excited for a Men of the Mountains playthrough, that or the Hillmen could be a lot of fun but the Hillmen might just be a bit too far away from the action.
That's actually a good thing for them. Their units are not great and they got low numbers. So their goal is distract the north numenoreans and elves.
Just a reminder for everyone, Med 2 total war is now at like 3 dollars, so if anyone, like me, was having problems with the LAA thing with DAC (because your game was cracked like mine :v) you can just buy the game for almost nothing ;)
Yeah, this is the perfect time to buy, but it’s 6 dollars for me but still a great deal
@@trollwayy5981 $6 is well worth all the mods you can play. If you can stand the outdated graphics, it's also one of the better total war games
Rogue Assassin I know.. I have the game lel.. Not as much as Galu but I’ve got 600 hours in dac
@@trollwayy5981 rookie numbers
Rogue Assassin it shows, it shows lolol
This is the campaign where you want to be playing as Mordor.
*Gil-galad!*
_LOOOOOORD OF ALL NOLDOR!!!_
Is a great mod. I only see the DAC fan boys complain abaout them outside of the bugs
Why would Sauron want to appear any other way than his badass armoured giant form 😉
He did very well tricking people. He got some rings made 😄 and got Numenor to suicide-by-god ☠
Could you maybe do an installation video because ur installs are so much easier to follow than the ones already out there
Uh what's that Fangorn faction?
Brilliant
I wish DaC kept the mountain passes but they should have changed it so that only dwarves and goblins could use it
You've forgotten about the Ents :C
Maybe it would be possible to implement the double King feature to Angmar's Witch-King quest
it needs DaC's map
And DaC needs DCI's water textures
Both pretty much true
That was my first thought as well, their water looks amazing. :P
DaC's map is too bigger this sort of campaign. It would take way too long for the elves and arnorians to get down from eriador to order for the war, and as they are supposed to be involved, it would be terrible design to have a map where it takes 20 turns to get where you need to be.
@ The water is vanilla TATW, mate. ;)
I kinda just noticed something about the elven rosters. Can the elves go evil? Or can harad turn good?
amazing sub mod, I really want that to be play by u one day....
Can u pls play also Dagor Silmarillion? Its about First Age and its amazing too!
That 2 mods and Divide and Conquer are the reason I still play MTWII at this current days
I am playing this submit on the channel right now. There are 4 videos already.
@ I'm aware of that... I was just off for a while.
Have a look on Dagor Silmarillion, u will like it for sure
Is it possible to have both Dac and DCI on the same computer?
Yes. DaC is standalone.
Thanks!
Yes
Is Edhellond held by the Elves?
Yes! Lothlorien owns it
Not the best with mods but if we have DaC installed and then install this can we choose which to play?
Are Elendil, Isildur etc. Playable Model charakters in this Mod? :)
What are your thoughts on the beleriand tw Mod? I've never played it, don't know if it even works. But i like the time period most
If it's the one that I'm thinking about then it's quite an incomplete mess( a pain to install and get to run too). if you're talking about sillmarillion total war then that looks to be shaping up to be an amazing mod.
@@abbestaabouri thank you, will keep an eye on that
gameplay is wery diferent than in dac.
ist so much pasive and almost no spaming.Armys of all factions are super small and almost never full stack.
Always bothered me a bit that Anarion got killed by a stone :)
It could have been made more interesting like it was fired from a cataput and took out most of his honor guard too. As it is it makes me think of the poor Uruk Hai holding the battering ram from Two Towers movie where he takes a stone to the face and falls over.
Do I need to uninstall Dac to get this working?
The map might be smaller, but it looks better overall imo.
Love the mod but only issue is the crashing too often
he didnt talk about edhellond
Can I install this mod as well as DaC? Or I need a new game or smth? I have DaC allrdy, so I don't wanna ruin it if I install this 1 too.
www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?528275-How-to-have-multiple-installations-of-TATW-(with-different-submods)
@ aaah Ty!
Also the the devs wanted to nerf the cavalry, but it is now so much fragile that you lost 1-3 models charging peasants archers with the bodyguards of Glorfindel
The sole difficulty is the garrison-script of tatw vanilla, which is very powerful. The names of settlements are very unimmersive, the city of the heart of the Dorwinion region is called Dorwinion ? Uh, very disappointing
You forgot the ents
Also whats the faction that holds edhellond?
You can't play as them and what is there to say? They are Ents...
@@kardifall623 The Elves of Lothlorien
so basically this is more script heavy than DaC?
Please make the first age mod guys i wanna play as Feanor so bad :D
There are already a few mods on the first age, but the one I would recommend you to watch the advance is Silmarillion Total War, you can already see quite much of online battles on TH-cam. ( I am in some of them under the name of Urukaie :b )
@@redeset8586 i meant mods with a campaign
@@iwalkalonelyroad111 there is one, but most units are just copy pasted from Third Age, and it is hard as fuck to get it working. Another one is in preparation. And Silmarillion Total War is working on a campaign
@@redeset8586 thanks for the answer
Med 2 engine can't really support First Age. Only Warhammer 2 Engine could support it. But sadly due to GW limitations. It can't be modded. As they don't let another IP change game. Maybe in 10 or more years after contracts expire we may get modding tools for that game.
The Dunedein are the Jihadis?
I guess I'm a Mordor fan now
Well they are turks..... :D
I don't understand....
@@FrostyPhoenix I am a Christian player in Medieval 2 it was a joke
@@malekiththeeternityking5433 damn bro, you really got me laughing
Osgiliath should be one city smh
Which side of the river would you put the single city on?
@ Hmmm, point taken. Though you could try and pull a Cair Andros and place it in the middle of the Anduin, however that would have the city over-spilling onto the shore which is rather unaesthetic, or you'd have to create a noticable bulge in the river. If I had to out it on one side I'd choose the western bank.
There was a Lord of the Rings Total War mod for Rome TW. Osgiliath is a single city there. But it's like a village, no defences. A single city would also help with the lag.
It would require a redesign of the battle map though.
It's probably better like it is now.
Time to rewrite history.
And without a doubt improve unit stats and looks
id like to say what in the fuck is wrong with 4.5? why have the animations and battles gotten progressively worse
We just hate the game so we try to make it worse every time.
First. ;)
