I was the crew chief for Bruce Zeller, Mad Rock Racing #181, from 2004-2007. What a great time. I met a lot of great folks during our time on the WERock circuit.
Chokecherry canyon is my favorite place to wheel!!! Lots of fun terrain. Watching the comp buggies is always fun. I help on a rescue of a Toyota pick up a few years ago. He was going up a stepped waterfall when the rear output on his transfer case broke. After we got him out he still had front wheel drive!!!
80 likes and 0 dislikes. You are doing something right! Makes me question even if I am a “rock crawler” after watching these guys. Freaking awesome video. Loved seeing these rigs work. I want one. Highlight was seeing Rory use his tow rig to help that other car out. Hope he got extra points!
Favorite W.E. Rock coarse I was able to see was the man made coarse in Houston. I remember meeting and getting a picture with shannon Campbell when I was maybe 12. Was able to see the xrra race in abq and met him again and his father. I loved W.E. Rock!
Thanks a million for the killer upload! Great footage, and incredible rigs... One thing I'd like to mention - if anyone wants to do this on a much smaller scale, Google the Axial Capra - a new release 1/10th scale radio-controlled rock crawling buggy with portal axles and rear dig function, looks and performs just like one of these! You can even custom-build one with rear steer...(not affiliated, just a fan)
@@cartunerph4827 All the best rigs are kits, you don't want to be stuck with wimpy RTR electronics. It's be like taking a stock Jeep and competing against these guys out on the rocks! Stuff a Mamba X and a HH Puller Pro in there... 👌
Great vid post ! Can't afford full-size rock bouncing on a low retirement fixed income. Soooo, I am starting to "do it" 1:10 scale radio control. DUMB QUESTION- Do you think ecpxperimenting with scale rock bouncers could prove helpful when building a full-size one?
Yes, building and operating scale models will absolutely help when building a full-size rig. Before digital renderings, scaled builds were the standard in all industries.
Dope video, cant wait to get back to NM and start having fun in my rig, maybe my fam and I can join yall on a wheeling trip, trying to wheel with all the NM youtubers lol
Thanks for the coverage guys! Farmington is my home town! I moved to Denver about 10 years ago, and sold my last rig a couple years fallowing. Ever since, I’ve been out of the ‘wheelin loop and don’t get home as often as I’d like. I love the content! A lot of it reminds me of the stuff we’d do/build back at home. I hope you guys got shown around, or at least found some of the EPIC trails they have their. If not, look up my buddy “Spotter” Rick. His TH-cam channel is 4x4pirate. He’s an awesome guy and loves to “Spot” people around the canyon! Lol! Keep it up guys!
We did take both our rigs up there, but we didn't wheel because we were covering the event. We saw a lot of trails and obstacles that we want to run next time we go back.
Farmington is my favorite place to wheel. Lots of different terrain. Rick is the man. He help my driving technique a lot the first time I went out there.
Once the rear tire lifts off the ground, you stop and roll back until it touches. The measurement of your wheel base, the distance your front tire went up, and the angle of the ramp is calculated to determine your score.
From what we saw, the water adds unsprung weight and really keeps the tires stuck down to the rocks. The buggies seemed to stick to the rocks like nothing I've seen before
Some use a transfer case that has modified shift rails to allow separate use of front/rear output, some use a rear disconnect that disengages the rear driveshaft.
We have been to KOH. I don’t really think the two can be compared unless you say this is like the shootout. KOH involves various elements of off-roading, W.E.Rock is solely crawling.
Hello! I have some questions about Scale Nations 2020...my friends from Russia would like to come and see competition of rock crawling, but I can't found any information about town and any hotel or motel around, what the price, bus line or car rental, also does it cost any money to watch!? Please, give me any answer if you know something about it, I will be very greateful for any help...Thank you so much! Sorry for my poor English!((🤝🙏
I don't know what scale nations is, but this rock crawling competition is called WE Rock and they have several events throughout the United States in a year. This event was held in Farmington New Mexico and was about 20 minutes away from town where rental cars and hotels are available. The Spector fee was $10
@@RecklessWrenchGarage Thank you so much, sir! Could you please send me link about WE Rock for 2020, where and when it will be, may be you already have this information for next year? It is no different what name of competition, they just like to see any rock crawling...

Fantastic video! NM is truly one the most beautiful places to visit... the people are the nicest folks around ;)
Rock crawling has come a long way. Been to New Mexico once for the Chile Challenge and it was awesome wheeling.
My Dad sprayed my bmx when i was 6 and put 5 spoke mags on them, and I thought i was lucky!
To have a custom made rock crawler at 6.. wow!
SIX?!?! What an awesome dad.
My buddy is friends with JHF and I had the opportunity to help pit for him at KOH a few years back. Super talented and humble chill dude!!!

Team RRC2 but its a kit so you need to buy Electronics.

Is Little Rich still the course designer? What a sick bastard...
I heard he was from other people, but I didn’t confirm with him. 😆
Sick you should head to Moab in the future
We have been to Moab twice. We have a video series of our trip last year. We will also be going later this year for Fullsize Invasion.
Great Vid!
#TrailMater good job Rory
great job on the video!
Thank you. We will have some more soon. 😁

I just wanna take my RCs out there!
Meet you there with homie
That would be sick
A set of those rims and tires cost more then my daily driver lol

Thank you.
The yellow Toyota high centered on that boulder, shifted onto the driveshaft and it snapped.
im new to this, what mechanism are they using to allow the back wheels to turn independently from the front?

Cool video, I thought it was rc crawling at first from the thumbnail, it's hard to tell sometimes.
We sometimes have a hard time differentiating RC from the real thing. The work some people put into those things can be amazing.
Rory!!!!!!
Wish my dad built me a custom rock buggy when I was six...
I know the feeling; I wish your dad built me one too. 🤷🏻♂️
2:15 i dont know why i Hang out with you😂
I'm think ya stand under that rig
Only reason I have a thumbs down is that I would rather hear the sound of the rigs and not the added in music.
