      Will be interesting to see how it pans out, as good as he was in the late 2000s & early-mid 2010s, it's been a while since then. The one question hanging over him will be whether he has the patience to endure 3, 4 or 5 years of building, which is what may be needed at North, as his last 6 years at Hawthorn seemed like he was rushing to get that side back up & going with recycled players. Not saying he won't do it, just saying it remains a query at the moment.

      nope, tas will never get their own team unless one moves as that state does not have the facilities, resources and most importantly, expertise to run an afl level team. Look at GC and GWS, both basket cases. If people want to bring on but but but gws was in a grand final, yes precisely, their very best was 100 points behind the best of the comp and gc hasn't been anywhere near being competitive.

    The fact that clarkson picked us means he probably already has a blueprint for us as out of the 3 clubs, north is perfectly setup for him to coach where at gws and essedon, he needs to re-assemble and then rebuild. To re-assemble means to turf out the deadwood and that means piss off a bunch of people upon arrival. A coach is not going to last too long if his first action is to cut. If clarkson is to coach at gws, he needs to deal with the kelly, whitfield, congniolio problem as they are all on 1 mil per season over 7 years. At bummers, clarkson has to deal with the expectation that essendon is a top 8 side where they are a bottom 3 side.
    At north, the team has been readied for him, albeit unintentionally. For all the criticism of noble, he put the right list together and that has always been his strength. Rapport building isn't his strength, he is a list builder.

    Clarko must have ruled out GWS a few weeks ago when he reportedly sounded out Leon Cameron for an assistant job. Not sure why he delayed announcing his decision long enough for Essendon to express an interest. Anyway, all's well that ends well. The rumour was that he had negotiated to bring his own team in and that Sonja Hood had agreed to that. That was also going to include a recruiter. The way he is talking here is that he'll only bring in a few select people.

    • @SilentHotdog28

      If I'm in Sonja Hood's position and Alastair Clarkson was across from my desk on the verge of signing and all I needed to do was agree to him bringing in his own recruitment officer.....I'd say "How many zeroes need to be on their contract?" haha. No but in all seriousness, You'd concede a few concessions to get a 4x Premiership Coach, he might not get North a Premiership, but he should get them out of the hole that they are in.

      @@ethandavies8989 You're right in some way, while they don't have the supporter base of a Carlton Collingwood, Richmond, Essendon, North have good people. They are more of a blue collar footy club history wise then the power Melbourne clubs.Back in the 1990s when North had a really good side and won flags they had 10000 - 15000 members..while the power clubs had double that figure in those times..North, then we're struggling financially, but Carey & Pagan helped them win those 2 flags in that decade. I think their young talent list from 19-24 year olds is pretty good..MacKay, Larkey, Davies Uniacke, Paul Curtis, Josh Goater,Tarryn Thomas Zurharr,Tom Powell, & Horne Francis. They just need pretty much tje right development coaches,be stronger and fitter with a good pre season,and get 2-3 good leadership experienced players to help that young list. I think Clarkson with the right people can get this team playing good competitive football in coming years.If Clarkson can make North a genuine top 8 side in next 2-3 years from now, I think their membership can rise from 50000 to 65000. He as coach will also help North get added extra sponsors once they start to win more games.

    Clarko will diminish the Culture of failure at Norf but he wont be able to win anything or make the eight. This will take 5 years just to get to the point they make the 8 as genuine finals contenders rather than a fluke year which can always eventuate.

    • @gustaaf1892
      @gustaaf1892 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm thinking we could scrape into the eight within three years. There is a core of decent youngsters that will develop well under Clarkson's tutelage, which we'll be adding to at this year's draft with the #1 pick as well as hopefully a priority pick. I think Clarko will also go hard for some trades and maybe a free agent. Next year will still be hard going, but we won't be getting flogged by 50+ points all the time.
