I bought SATS over multiple tranches when you guys first posted your opinion on SATS. Avg cost $2.65, could’ve bought more to DCA further when it tanked but my capital was sent toward US stocks. Fast forward to Oct 2024, it’s now $3.76 😍 One of my best performing investments ever! Thanks for the analysis and input, please keep up the good work Adam, Rusmin and Victor 🙏🏻
The problem with many Singapore companies like SATS is that they have limited growth potential in the home market. It seems to me that they too often pursue foreign acquisitions at the wrong time and at the wrong (i.e. too high) price. On the other hand (as the M&A guy at one of my past employers told me) you can only buy something when it is for sale. BTW I was also looking at SATS and came to the same conclusion as you guys. Great summary though. And the detail on impact of WFS was particularly good.
SATS has became a government supply tool to ensure Singapore will access to food and other necessities in time of global logistics crisis. Financial improvement s not its priority. This is at the expense of people in particularly those who brought the shares pre-WFS acquisition. Moving forward, SATS will hold on to WFS at all cost even at huge losses. Government will come in to help even the company is in financial crisis. Can buy when the share is at low low price only. Trade with care.
Unlikely. Companies gain entry to the index if they rank 20th or higher among eligible securities by full market capitalisation. Companies are removed from the list if they rank 41st or lower. SATS' market cap has to fall quite a bit to be replaced.
They will be very similar: 1. Save $1,000 for Your Starter Emergency Fund 2. Pay Off All Debt (Except the House) 3. Save 3-6 Months of Expenses 4. Invest 15% of Your Household Income in Retirement (covered by CPF) 5. Save for Your Children's College Fund 6. Pay Off Your Home Early 7. Build Wealth and Give An additional step might be to save and invest beyond your CPF.
Just enter in March and as of now Jun 3rd, it price spiked to $2.85 with a small dividen coming soon.
Good video and foresight!

Thanks! That is true; you can only buy something when it's for sale. Guess SATS decided to take action since the acquisition is synergistic on paper

Excellent analysis, guys! Looking forward to when SATS is ready for investing in!
Thank you!
what do you think is the chances of SATS dropping out of STI?

Sats is flying...
Who is here now? 🎉🎉
Do you guys believe in Dave Ramsey 7 steps?
Yes, they are applicable for many people
@TheFifthPersonChannel how can we apply these 7 steps in SG context?
They will be very similar:
1. Save $1,000 for Your Starter Emergency Fund
2. Pay Off All Debt (Except the House)
3. Save 3-6 Months of Expenses
4. Invest 15% of Your Household Income in Retirement (covered by CPF)
5. Save for Your Children's College Fund
6. Pay Off Your Home Early
7. Build Wealth and Give
An additional step might be to save and invest beyond your CPF.
Because they also have mentioned 'match ' employers contribution and max so is it also matching and maxing out the yearly cpf top up?
In a way, employers already (almost) match your CPF contributions at 17% of gross salary, while employees contribute 20%.
From the start of the conversation, you can really see the bad shape of SATS with those smiles displayed.
fed can prata very fast!
SATS should sack the CEO for this silly acquisition.
