This is a very interesting way to learn how to communicate better with everyone around you, especially family members. Some people tend to get offended very easily, and by switching you statements to I statements will most likely make the sentences less offensive to others.
Ah - thank you... and thank you for sharing your thoughts. You're spot on - I statements are much less likely to cause offense or land like an accusation.
hmmm - I get the I statements PDF when I fill in the form that says 'I statements', when I fill in the form that is about the house meeting, I get the house meeting pdf. Which form are you filling in? @@Zaydee51
I had a girl use I statements on me and my response was "ok? Whats your point" she flipped out lol. I think i statements are useless. Just because you say it in a different way doesn't make me change my mind

My 9 year old says “ I would like to know how you are feeling sometimes because I want to make sure you are ok. “
"I feel hurt when I can't tell what you're feeling, because I want us to maintain the close connection we had in the beginning."
awww- that got me feeling things! Great 'I' statement!
The third one would be interpreted as an attack by my partner
