What are leading researchers saying about exercise and safe movement when you have a compression fracture? My interview with Dr. Matteo Ponzano, the author of a recent study into the issue.
This was very comforting to know that continuing to exercise is the way to go. I recently met with my orthopedists and he scared me. Margaret I have your video on living with compression fractures and it is wonderful. However, I still would like to see a physical therapist or trainer to help me progress safely with strength training. I have been through three courses of PT and even though the therapists said yes they have worked with someone with OP and fractures I felt they were not truly qualified. Finding someone is very hard and I'm in a major US city.
We absolutely cannot find these specialists to help us. My GP scared the TAR out of me, about moving. They push the Prolia etc. I appreciate this information but I’ll have to do it on my own. I’ve had FOUR compression fractures and have lost 4 inches in height. I have pain all that time but get up and move anyway. Thanks for sharing this. Truly. Your site has been very helpful. 🇺🇸
I have the same problem with chronic back pain from Spinal fractures, I have had 12 Spinal fractures so far. I try to keep going as much as possible so I won’t be in a wheel chair. I use a cane.
Hi Margaret! I purchased 2 of your beginner videos and have also started Forteo with zero side effects so far! I’ve been on it 1 1/2 months and so far so good! Thank you so much for you and Richard for answering my emails!
Thank you for putting out this info. I have had compression fracture, my doctor was no help really. He prescribed medication , but nothing else. I haven’t found a physical therapist who is familiar with compression fractures and the cost is prohibitive. I’m still looking for an exercise program that would be right to build strength slowly. Thank you again for the info
Thank you for your videos. I have bought your exercise program videos that have been very helpful and progress slowly. Personally I have been afraid to go for physio for fear, but I feel confident with your research and knowledgeable guests and consequently your exercise program.
I had multiple compression fractures and all I got was prolia and told don't fall down, so I have no idea what I can do and what's dangerous. It's been a year in January, no more morphine no more tylenol but I still have pain.
Madame, will you please explain on cares to be taken with Lumbar 4 compression fracture that cause inabiluty to tread on the feet while walking, and how soon or late ? I am now on the first of the accident . Thanks
I’m doing the exercises you recommend I can feel the strength improving but i still feel the soreness after several months . Is this a normal finding or is there a definitive expected time frame where tendeness and soreness should completely go away ? God bless
Hi Margaret! I had a bad fall last Dec. 3 and found out that I had severe compression deformity of my T7, mild T6-T7 cord compression wt disk desiccation, mild thoracic spondylosis and some cervical neck muscle spasm. I only took meds for 3 weeks. I stopped coz I don’t want to be dependent on them. Pain is tolerable and is not constant. But i can still feel pins and needles radiating at the back at the lower scapula on the left. I was advised by the doctor to wear a removable brace, and is now on the weaning phase. I am a dentist, poor posture. Works 8 to 10 hours a day, I am gaining weight since i don’t do any exercises at the moment. But before I do Yoga and little Pilates. But i guess, doing it without the instructor started the compression without me knowing it, I am from the Philippines… i want help please.
Are you able to tell us which video to watch for the right help specifically for vertebral compression fractures? Have had 9 of these and now am healed enough in terms of pain to wish to begin the process of getting back to muscular strength. Have your book but prefer to watch your videos. Please share which videos are ok if you’ve already recorded them. Thank you very much for your kind help in this area! All my best, Karen
