Moore Fun is a tale of two trails. If you thought the original route of East to West wasn’t enough, well I have a way for you to double the misery!!!! The gnarliest out and back can be yours at the price of a ripped derailleur, 2 flats, 3 shinners, and 4 tears. FEEL THE PAIN!!!
The key differences and between the West to East vs. the East to West are that the Western climb is significantly more less achievable. If you wanted to see us climb these features, too bad, we walked. You can catch a glimpse of this terrain on the previous video on the downhill.
Since the climb is essentially more impossible there has to be a key trade off. Good news, there is. The route has a more sustained technical downhill back to the trailhead with some really gnarly areas. Interestingly enough, I think this downhill is Moore Fun in this route and less sketchy. Speaking of downhill Sheyn will be operating the camera on one of my favorite downhills!
Combined as an epic “out and back” Moore Fun is my 3rd all time favorite ride in the Grand Valley. An incredible challenge of fitness, climbing, and technical descending. If you want to intimately get to know your bike, this trail will reveal all, that’s why it’s a keystone stage in my Outdoor Gold Enduro.

If you want me to respond to your comment in Instagram stories @outdoor_gold_rc, if I don't know your instagram handle at the end of your comment so I can tag you if you would like thanks
Outdoor Gold my insta is lame but you can follow me @cuzz_lite_beer
I don't remember saying ANY of that! 😂
Dude... My legs are hurting just watching this!
It’s because you were letting your riding speak for itself! 😆
I’ve added this trail to my must do list when I head out there.
Dude! Yes! If tough sledding on the first couple tries, but once you get the lines etched into your mind its a lot of fun!
I love it that you guys show the dabs et al. Most MTB videos are nothing but "perfection and success", which we mere mortals will never achieve. And the commentary is terrific too.....great tips and rider comments. Please keep up the great work, humility, and superb riding!! :-)
Thanks JD Dallager! hahaha you nailed it! I dont want anybody to get the wrong idea, I still have a long ways to go in mtb, my policy on dabs and what not depends on the flow of the video and time savings. I like to include my failures as long as it doesn't take up too much time on the video, for me the more the better lol hahaha
Pedal strike city! I would have gone through several sets of pedals on that ride. Excellent technique. Serious climbing, switchbacks that just didn't look like any fun at all! Coming down sure made it all seem worthwhile though! Enhanced my faith in short travel setups. Nice clear weather, looked like it might have been a little chilly. Great collab! Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks a bunch Ol' Roy MTB!!! and etc. You are not kidding, I've gone through a lot of pedals and rear derailleurs on this trail! It doesn't matter how many times you ride this trail, you are still going to draw the strikes!
Great vid, Moore Fun is the best! I love that you two rode this as an out and back! It’s such a brutally rewarding trail. I vote short travel but I’m completely bias as I have never been on a long travel. My main do everything from xc to park is a short travel full squish fatty; 100 front and back on 26x4.
Really enjoyed that, great to see what well ridden short travel bikes can do on techy terrain, not that we’ve got any deserts here in the UK, but plenty of techy riding. Been on 27.5 bikes for a good while but got the urge to try a short travel 29er like a Smuggler, like the look of the Yeti but so expensive! Keep up the good work👍🏻
Hell yeah Neal! There’s no shortage of techy riding, real mountain biking features in the UK! Ive been impressed with how the short travel 29ers sharpened my skills! Fun bikes!
Keep up these great videos. I’m a big fan from Australia. You’ve got me motivated to come over to ride these trails.
Hell yeah W Lowe! Enjoy the summer season down under!
It never ceases to amaze me what can be done on modern short-travel bikes thanks to geometry and component changes. And of course, rider talent. :)
I'll be in your neck of the woods Wednesday through Saturday, RC. Hope you told bad weather to stay away!
Conditions are PRIME right now!!!
@@OutdoorGold great! We'll be there tomorrow around 2pm and should squeeze in one evening ride.
That was one awesome stuntman sweat stain at 6:55 mark. Good stuff, RC!
hahaha as TH-camr, I noticed that as well and I laughed when editing!!!
Wow, what a creaking bottom bracket... so that SB100 must have been complaining! Thanks!
The one of the many problems with demo bikes, people pressure washing the bearings.
Just the sound of the tires over all the rock is so cool 😎!
Get to hear some squeaky bearings too lol People like to take bikes to the car wash and well....you know what happens lol. But the sounds from this trail, amazing! You never notice em when riding, but definitely editing. Thanks Nat!
Looks gnarly. Nice riding fellas!
Hell yeah Yahner!!! Thanks for watching!
I don’t know guys, from this spin bike that trail sure doesn’t seem too chunky 😂😂😂 perfect length video for a quick spin!
hahaha spin youtube riding! I like it!
Great riding and better views! You guys make a good team. That was chunk for days!
Thanks Bikes Trails and Greenways! This "trail" is a rough one and Sheyn really killed it!
Mmm, that trail looks so good!
This is some Gonzo Kat stuff right here! Only true cyclepaths allowed lol!
That trail looks sick!!
Its a rough one!!!! lol that's for sure, so challenging and rewarding and painful all at the same time!
Give it up for the Crashing Dad!!! Its like he already knew how to operate the camera gimbal setup....or did he....
Sweet job man is that at Koko
Yep, it starts right at the main trail head in the valley! Its pretty rough!
Dude we GOTTA ride this trail next time I'm out. And we should get BKXC to join us! He'd love that trail! 🤘😎🤘
I don't know if my bike will let me ride this trail again lol. It doesn't like Moore Fun!
@@OutdoorGold | It looks bonkers gnarly and it would likely destroy me as well as my bike but I'm drawn to rocks and gnar like a moth to flame!
Oh that looks so fun! I would love to come out and ride with you guys. I need to up my fitness to keep up with Shane -- that boy can climb!
hahaha I KNOW!!!! He's really broken through his climbing in the last year, he way surpassed me!
@@OutdoorGold he spanked me silly on the climbs! He was nice enough to pretend to breath hard though!
@@azdirtlife4280 - it WAS 7am and COLD 😬
There was no fake suffering! 😂
Very nice contend bro, subscribed!
Awesome! Glad to have you aboard Christian!
Man, this just makes it even harder for me to figure out what bike to get next. I've toyed with the idea of getting a Pivot Trail429 but the rear shock on it looks so tiny! I'm pretty sure I'd blow through its travel on anything larger than a baseball...
These trails look so sweet! I've gotta get out there.
That new trail 429 looks amazing...🤤.... Should've been called the 529, since they upped the travel closer to 5 inches from 4(100mm)
Dude! Great comment! What sheyn said, but at the same time consider that suspension technology today is better than it ever was 2-5 years ago. Those air cans aren't dinky anymore.
shows how capable short travels bikes are nowadays
You are SOOOOO RIGHT!!!! These newer model short travel 29ers are out performing their longer travel model ancestors in my opinion!
You guys are good. 3rd favorite? What are #'s 1 and 2?
#1 Ribbon to Free Lunch to Pucker Up, #2 Horsthief Bench, super unofficial top 3 lol thanks John!
Feed the Beast lol Awesome Vid .Thxs.
We are going to feed those mtb beasts!!!! hahaha Thanks Todd!
Why do Yeti's click so much?! The SB5+ I rode at Outerbike did the same thing!
I think in this case, it being a demo, people + carwashes, that the primary reason on this bike. #2 very fine dirt/sand, I have yet to own or ride a bike in Fruita where I'm not cleaning some on the linkage or the headset after every two rides in dry times to prevent the clicking. #3 press fit bottom brackets. I HATE PF bottom brackets! lol
@@OutdoorGold It was definitely coming from the stem/headset on the Yeti I rode in Moab. My buddy just had to get a new stem on his Pivot after it was making noise, and come to find out it was all corroded and falling apart!
I'm pretty sure Shane has his pack, tires, water bottle, & plaid shirt completely filled with helium...Thats the only way I can explain some of the bullshit he got up....
I get pretty lucky with a lot of bullshit 😂
@@TheCrashingDad pass me some of that luck please! Makes for a good christmas gift!
The luck of the Crashing Dad sadly never passes! I still suck at mountain biking lol
@@OutdoorGold I SUCK MORE! Fight me about it!
Damnit Kolb! You Wyo boys are too tough for me LOL!
bad ass!!
So much fun!
Stalking RC's butt eh? Sounds like you have an admirer.
He was making fun of rado life in the burro video! 😆 These guys and their butt jokes 😂 hahaha
