    I bought a new/used car I think the dealership detailer knocked the wiper out of alignment because I didn't hear it during the test drive. A few days later I heard thumping when running the wipers. After watching this video, I marked inside the vehicle where the wiper was, I lifted the hood to access the bolt, I popped off the plastic cap, then used a socket wrench to take the nut off and then the wiper easily came off and went back into its new position. Thanks so much for this video. It is the only one I found on TH-cam. Well done. :)

    The info. about the alignment marks on the glass was helpful. I’ve been a car enthusiast my entire life, and taking off and installing wiper arms with those darned splines has always been something I dreaded. I can never get them lined up, and “one or two splines” of adjustment only moves it by a micro amount. But, I never noticed the marks in the glass! That’s helpful info.- thanks!

    ⚠️ Remember that wiper arms are spring-loaded, so can snap back from the service position and shatter your glass. Take precautions whenever adjusting the wiper arm or replacing wiper blades, protect your glass from damage by placing a thick soft towel, sponge or pillow.

    I know this video has been up for a while and it's clear and concise, but I feel like it still needs to be mentioned.
    If these steps are not working and/or if the retention nut on your wiper was loose. Make sure the wiper motor is indexed as well, as the wiper to the newly indexed motor.
    Lived in Arizona for 16 yrs wipers were never a problem in 20 days of being in Utah during the winter, mine was making the X shape while driving down the interstate in a blizzard. This is not a joyous experience and I don't recommend 😆.

  • @normanacree1635
    @normanacree1635 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Can the 'tightness' of the nut be responsible for the wiper scraping and causing that awful noise as the wiper sweeps across the windshield? Or does it need to be pretty tight and something else is causing the awful noise?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It needs to be tights so the blade won’t slip, but do not over tighten. The issue you are having could be caused by the rubber blade being worn or dried out. There are metal clamps that hold the rubber blade, when the rubber gets too worn they will scrape the windshield. If that’s your problem, be careful so you don’t scratch the glass.

    Great video, very educational!!❤ Just one reaction: "If you sit on the driver's side, isn't the shorter wiper (the one in front of the driver passenger) positioned too high! Viewing both wipers from the outside, one can notice that wiper on the passenger side is set higher than the one on the driver's side. Is that all right?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you use the windshield you’ll have them in the correct location. The passenger is slightly higher since it needs to be above the driver side arm
