- The present moment is a unique gift from God, yet so often, rather than live in the present, we pine for another time in our lives, focusing on future goals or better times from the past. Ways to be focused on the present:
1) Identify Season: know where you are right now and recognize what is happening in this season.
2) Be Patient: recognize that you have to start somewhere and be patient with fact that you are growing.
3) Be Active: do your work for today so that you can be the person you are called to be
4) Sacrament of Present Moment: it is in this present moment that God communicates with us.

Anton Babani-I survived after taking over 50 pills. It was a combination of anti anxiety medication and antidepressants. I was unconscious for 14-16 hours, during which time I was transported to the ER by ambulance, had my stomach pumped and was admitted to intensive care. There was great concern that my overdose had caused liver and/or kidney damage, but 12+ years later, my organs are working fine.

Bible in a Year!!!
This is the second time this post has popped up for me. I have to say it is rough to try and live in the present when it is not pretty at all. We are two homeless disabled bodies pretty much squatting in a basement room. Living in the moment today... moving all my daughter's medical supplies, and there is a lot, to a somewhat cooler section of the 90 degree weather. Giving my daughter her IV fluids, eating, feeding our emotional support dogs, then aimlessly scrolling thru TH-cam for most of the day. Can not forget having to hose of my little white pup because of his muddy feet twice. And noticing the tumor he just had removed with funds my daughter raised from the internet, is possibly growing back. But!!! I have Jesus by my side, Fr. Mike and Hallow to get me through another useless day.
It is disturbing that I ran into this video at the exact moment I was feeling frustration about my current state of life. Talk about providence!

I just came back from a college retreat and I basically prayed about exactly what you said in this video: "God, if You are calling me to be a priest, let me know now! I am so ready to devote myself to You, just send me the word and I will close doors (to the GRE, to romantic relationships) so that I can open Yours."
But I love this meditation on the Sacrament of the Present! God's grace is in the now: My prayer habits now, the beauty of each present season, even my homework.

Thank you for this. For twenty years I've been striving for more to understand what The Holy Spirit gave us through John Paul ii and others. The current condition of the world cannot be understood without solidarity with the children in the womb and their parents. John Paul ii called upon the Church for an integral concerted effort in all of her pastoral works in all the facets of her mission to be a 'sign' for the Gospel of life in a vast pervasive way to the world. Since, I made decisions in life with Providence; my station in life is not conducive for many others to see me as knowledgeable of these things; no matter how much I learned from history and Church writings over the centuries with a focus on the last 150 years. So, I will work on being in the present moment in prayer, helping others, and prudently sharing what I have been taught. With the exception of heartbreaking easily visible dictatorships; what has come upon the world happened almost imperceptibly. While it started with much subterfuge, it gradually became a pervasive acceptance of precepts that do not accept the Judaeo Christian ethic of the God given dignity and value of every human life. And in certain things, even though there is no one person or group who leads this --- the elitists become of one mind on these things, and have been getting more and more powerful in seducing more and more each generation; mostly because of complacency, silence in proportion to the needs of fellow human beings, and omission in meeting those needs; leaving the world steeped in the culture of death & it's precepts lead the way of providing needs; many times as a veiled bribe to meet those needs. The saddest thing is that we let this happen over the decades with many railing at the darkness; but not rallying behind this call to duty of The Gospel of Life, with all the necessary sacrifices to be a 'sign' to the world.
A prime example is the immense heartbreaking turn of events in Ireland over the last few decades. Had we listened to John Paul ii; then The Gospel of Life would have had a much better chance of prevailing. God help us, with Your Light that shines in the darkness and for Your Namesake; for all those who call upon You, O Lord. Amen.

Thank you so much, Fr. Mike! After 8 years of thinking I was on the wrong path career-wise, this year finally finding my vocation, and feeling sorry for all the time that was "wasted"... I recently realized that it was all part of God's plan for me for a reason. But as you said, having finally found my answer I was stuck in this loop of dissatisfaction about "not being there yet". Thank you for teaching me patience, to enjoy today's season, and to not "wanting to run before I can crawl". God bless you for delivering this message when I needed it the most.
There can be no rush, when it's meant to pass it will be, and you'll know. That's The short version. When you're ready, you'll know, and be ready. Is it going to be easy, no, not at all. But you'll be ready when we calls you to do it. Everyone has a different timeline of where they need to be. This is just my opinion, because this is what has happened with me. This man is very great in his message. I watch often. Again only speaking from personal experience, so please don't attack me.

The Catholic Church does not follow the Bible, allow me to present here the versions of the Catholic doctrines about Mary compared to what the Bible says. I am now entering the Winter of my life and did all that longing and was impatient for other things to happen. What a silly waste of time. I found this video at the perfect time! I find myself constantly looking for the future because that’s when I’ll have the opportunity to become more involved in my faith. I feel like I tread water because I stress too much about the future and actually living long enough to be the kind of man God is calling me to be. Thanks to this video, I now know I don’t have to stress. I just have to live the most holy life I can at this moment in time until I’m off to college and have more freedom to get involved in the Catholic Church. Thanks Fr. Mike!

I really want to join a religious order near me, and up until now my family had been completely against it. Yesterday my dad told me he’d let me join but that I had to get my career done with first. Fr. Jean Pierre de Caussade, S.J. (1675-1751) was a French Jesuit priest and author, most well-known for this famous treatise, Abandonment to Divine Providence, and also his letters to the Visitation nuns, where he served as confessor and spiritual director. He also served as the rector of two colleges, and as spiritual director for a Jesuit house. He was deeply influenced by the writings of both Saint Francis de Sales and Saint John of the Cross.
