      @@montanamontero your batteries get splashed with rain. Run battery covers over the whole battery and terminals. . Stops most parasitic drain. The hoods aren't adequate to stop it. I have a 1996 ranger and I cut a plastic jug to run as a battery cover and it works great. My rig doesn't want to die in winter if the rain sprinkles all day for days on end. The top of the battery gets wet and the it drops the charge and it doesn't start strong after a handful of days. Also, you shouldn't be running a compressor from your starter battery. It's not built for steady draw for minutes on end . Set it up on the other battery. Or both - if it draws a lot of amps.

    Hey man! Love the content! Is there anyway you would consider doing a general buyers guide for the 3rd Gen montero? Common issues, things to look out for on higher mileage vehicles, etc?

    The gen4 3,2D comes with two starting batteries (maybe in Nordic region only). Point is the second battery tray/ mounting hardware ought to be available as a spare part and probably fits the gen3 as well.

      @wopmf4345FxFDxdGaa20 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, and not only Gen4, but in Gen3, etc. all the way back to Gen 1 diesel models in Nordic at least . . .

    Hi Montana Montero, In that location where you put the battery, I was debating what was more convenient, a 2nd batt or a dual ARB air compressor. A 2nd batt is nice but the compressor fits perfect in that location so I went with the compressor. LMK if you want photos of what I did. Your videos are great BTW..

    Hi man I have a question: what engine oil do you use in your montero? (Brand, Viscosity etc.)
    Thanks!

    • @montanamontero
      @montanamontero  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use generic, conventional 5w-30 in the winter and 10w-30 in the summer. Change every 3,000 miles

      The hitch receiver in the back? I think i paid around $150 for mine when i had one from Curt. but i would only recommend OEM hitches at this point

    Hey boss how can I know if my alternator is charging my Montero ?
    I left the lights on and battery got almost dead then it died the next day and after jumping it I stalled multiple times and had to get jumped to get home
    I charged it up and now it’s acting normal
    I need to know if my alternator charging or not ?
    Is it a fuse ? Diode ?
    Battery looks good ,
    What lights should be on ?
    Also I have a big speaker system the previous owner installed and I think it could be draining it maybe 🤔

    • @montanamontero
      @montanamontero  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if your alt is charging you should be able to use a volt meter and text the battery when the car is on. you should be at or above 14v
