Great piece. Good to see a city government highlighting some of its best-spent tax dollars and explaining why such a steep investment is truly worth it.
On another video about tiller trucks, there's a big argument raging in the comment section about the tiller steering, with people commenting on the "opposite" steering, and others arguing that no, it's not opposite at all. And then in this video the fire chief just casually mentions that the steering of the tiller is opposite. SMH. 🤣
KME builds decent apparatus. I am surprised it's a quint. Often underutilized capacity while adding to acquisition cost, maintenance, weight & length of the rig. The TDA that Sutphen built for DeKalb County GA is a great example for a solid, well-designed, straight-up truck.
Why not just a smaller truck? Compared to this trucks all over the world are tiny. In many places it’s common to have one ladder truck and one truck carrying all kinds of equipment. Combining it means you need a lot of vehicle. But it’s still pretty darn cool.
Great video. My son loved it. Thank you!

Technically it’s not a Quint because does not carry on board water.
Youre looking at easily 3 million bucks
Way too big of a truck lol. How long is the ladder?
Over 100ft
You turn like a tractor trailer but your not. We wish we had someone steering in the back because it totally eliminates blind side backing
