  • You may have heard that Jesus is present in the Eucharist, but have you really heard those words? You may have been in the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, but have you really seen him in the Eucharist?
Today, Fr. Mike challenges us to take Jesus at His word (John 6:6) and to grow in our faith in His real presence, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Eucharist!

I’ve been Baptist in the past and had no idea anyone even taught communion this way. Now, I have no idea how people could hear and believe our amazing God wouldn’t do this miracle for us personally in Mass. We really do need it, and He really is that good.

You are so right. Churchs, at least in Spain, are almost empty because we, Catholics don't open our hearts, eyes and ears to the Great Mistery of real presence of Jesus there, actually. Let us ask Him to open our senses to the truly love. Young people, come and see!!! .

Depende! Fui a España el año pasado y aún con el COVID-19 no se podía entrar a la catedral de Santiago. Entramos solo por un milagro de Dios. My wife recently became Catholic and I have spoken to her before about the Bread of Life discourse, John Chapter 6. On her own, last night, she went back and re-read it. Praise the Lord! I SO wish, as others have said in these comments, that more people would open their heart to what Jesus is saying to us and embrace what He offers all of us. This is part of our Mission during this time of Eucharistic revival.

Do you mind me being frank in asking you why you are not a Catholic even though you enjoyed this video with Fr. Mike speaking about the Eucharist and its significance?
The significance of the Eucharist and what it is - or in your case, what you may think it isn't - is paramount and cannot be overstated in its importance. If the Euchraist is truly the Blood and Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which he repeatedly stated to his disciples (the majority of whom rejected him when they heard it) then it is the case that your very soul is at stake and that neglecting to seriously consider this matter and search for the Truth - to search for Christ - is the biggest mistake you could ever make, because, as stated previously - your very soul is at stake.
All the best wishes and may God shine his light unto you and lead you to him.

So... I'm a deadhead, like Fr. Calloway was(/is?), and after 38 years here, I finally was confirmed this year. I've been enjoying Bible in a year, finally got through Judges (and was really excited to finally hear of Samson), and am stoked to be gearing up for John (by the way, I had never heard or read Ruth till now, oh my!!!). Anyhow, after work today, and tending to my mother and niece, while on my way home I was rocking out to one of the many renditions is "Samson and Delilah," by Grateful Dead. Put in my earbuds to listen to this while doing some dishes at home... Man, what a blessing! I saw the thumbnail and knew where it was heading. How did I until now not see the juxtaposition to the Lord in this Parable until now?! I haven't been excited about life for too long, but here I am, bursting at the seems, ready to donate blood (Seriously: does this constitute blowing the horn for almsgiving? If so I'll omit this line it delete them post.) at a drive through my church tomorrow! Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit! You're a-okay too Fr Mike!

As a cradle Catholic, I remember the first time that the teaching of the Real Presence of Eucharist truly and finally sunk in. It felt like a devine revelation. This is a hard teaching, but it is incredible, and it is true. Not only is it so plainly taught in the Bible and repeated throughout in the New Testament, but it's what sacred tradition passed on to us since the first century and on. I wish I had realized this sooner, but now that I know it, I'm constantly repeating it to others in my family and helping them come to this gift and realization also! We are so blessed to be given this Sacrament and to be part of Christ's Church! No other church has the real presence, no other church will suffice like the Catholic Church, from the Apostolic Father's, from God.

I listened and its hard Fr Mike,as
I was shown the the Holy Spirit descending onto the altar during the consecration like the dew fall golden droplets to be precise.
Then during communion the Lord let me feel his Joy as every parishioner in the packed church received Him in Communion.I stood at the rear of the church.
The Joy radiated down my body, my eye erupting with tears, they streamed down my face.
I wish I could just touch people for a second and pass this feeling on.
I must point out I didn’t receive communion myself but importantly had been directed to go to confession the day before and did ( 1st time -big fish) and that night I prayed to understand the mass and the rosary.
I learnt quite a bit about both .. you see unbeknownst to me until
The Irish priest announced that it was the feast of “Our Lady of the Rosary” 7th October 1997.
After mass my Catholic friend now wife came up to me and said I have something to share with you and I said oh I have some things to tell you…. “But you go first” I said
She proceeded to place a rosary in my left hand. I said you have no idea what you have just done as when I prayed the night before I had a seen and felt my left hand ( whilst my eyes were closed)and funny …but I couldn’t close although there was nothing in it?
    That was until that moment!
My apologies for using this comment space to share.
It’s hard because looking at you, hearing I want to see have the veil lifted…it’s true I guess is what I’m trying to say. I’ve seen it and felt it
I’m in tears because I still struggle with why Our Lord was so generous to me.
God bless keep up the good work!

But do you HEED me?" Then we knew if we didn't start listening, we'd be in trouble. What he was saying was for us and for our good and if we didn't listen up the consequences could be dire. Amazing how parents can do that where many have failed.

    We should consider the moments
    spent before the Blessed Sacrament
as the happiest days of our lives.
    ~St John Vianney
“Jesus has remained within the Eucharist for love….of us. He has remained in the Eucharist so that we could receive him, so that we could visit him and tell him everything that happening in our life; and so that we could talk to him and listen to his voice as we pray in the Blessed Sacrament, and as we receive him sacramentally; and so that we could fall in love with him more and more each day, and make other souls to follow the same path.
For centuries Jesus has been waiting in the Blessed Sacrament.
On visiting Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament we receive light and strength to live our Christian lives and share that zeal with others 🌻

I guess thiere is a difference between saved and not saved. The bible tells us if we are saved Christ is in us, others get him once a week, so they think. Christ is not in the eucharist and no one can put him there. If Christ was in the eucharist how long would he remain in you, until the next potty break.

@@Winston-op5de Sir, I thank you for your concern but please don't pray for me as I know not to whom you would pray. I have received Christ through faith and if I needed to eat someone for salvation that would be idol worship and God has told us not to do that. Friend, if you read all that the apostles taught you will see they said we are saved by believing in Christ, not eating Him. In fact, the apostles, like Christ, never even said mass, nor did the apostles ever teach they had the power to call Christ into the wafer. What the apostles did teach was that we are to break bread in remembrance of the price Christ paid for us.

Such good stuff you are getting after. Some ideas of mine to bounce around.
Jesus was the truly humble, it's taken me years to build trust with my faith where He was born with it. What I mean is, I didn't trust the Bible, and I didn't read the Bible until I was 40. So, like the Jews I wandered for 40 years carryng a large tabernacle on my back asking and begging God to make these rituals I did actually pay off so I could live in restful peace. So, he tore up my home as he said he would in Matthew 10:16-42 and said, "Where is your cross? Pick it up." So, I did. I had a daughter, and I needed her to know what healthy was and that responsible meant love not boredom.
Circumcision is a ritual that Paul and Peter battled first and to me the scriptures depict their frustration on the matter. I believe it is part of the problem of why we have an LGBTQ/psychiatry problem and how gender culture is trying to bring the unconscious to the conscious which will kill us all. Our bodies are not made to be fully conscious. Do you want to have to multitask in a world that doesn't find it a good asset for a job interview anymore, telling yourself to breathe now before your next step, and stop now because your heart needs to pump a few more times before the next leg will move? These are things your cerebellum helps to the rest of the brain to do for you, but the gender police keep thinking they've got that little apple settled under the canopy of your occipital lobe in the palm of their hands and can manipulate the absent minded to do whatever they wish if they ever want to breathe again. They torture themselves because they believe to do so brings revelations to the mind via a "new and novel approach" which they hypocritically deny as novel when they refuse to turn form their sinful ways when someone like me confronts them, "We've been here since the beginning of time" I heard one say in a PBS interview, and "they'll be here for an eternity." I dare say to you that they will not, for I am one to join heaven's army against them full body and soul; only Jesus will bring an end to this calamity as He said He would. So, the children of our time are being taught to ignore their biological sciences taught to them since elementary school in favor of a lifestyle that believes their sexual practices bring about the revelation of God like circumcision; this is not a Jewish issue it is a human species problem.
So, now that I've covered the aspect of how the human body has become just another piece of meat for people to purchase and determine on how they wish to dine. Let me say to you, that perhaps Jesus was being politically incorrect by helping people remember that canabilism was once a way to survive. I however am not ready to accept this fate, I don't mind going to war to free up some space so I can build a farm and eat some tofu. So, I offer you this: The lessons the Bible gave us about what Jesus believed are the bread, which tangibles we can conjur up and feed ourselves for a lifetime when our strict nature to put God first yields us no human love. The blood was his willingness to defend those beliefs and he demands anyone who wants to be claimed by him to be willing to give blood as he has, and which I see you do in these little sermons and what I give to you and your followers in return. 1 Corinthians 6:1-11. Bless you and thank you.

I think we can surely have metaphorical understandings of the Eucharist as Catholics, while also maintaining the literal understanding, because both can be true at the same time. This has been understood with the idea of transubstantiation, that at the consecration, the substance of bread and wine cease to be bread and wine and entirely become body and blood, soul and divinity of Jesus; but the accidents (physical properties, appearance) remain. If the Church truly desires a Eucharistic revival, then we need to change the way we act and worship in His Presence. The Mass should be other worldly. We should not be receiving Our Lord like we are handed a burger at a fast food joint. The music should be different, how we dress, the language. The Sacred Space should be treated sacred with silence. How you pray is how you believe. Everything at Mass should be different compared to what we do outside of Mass.
