    Fantastic to see startups, um starting up(?) in Germany. You hear of all the outsourcing of manufacturing within Germany, and here you have precision machinery made in the good old DE again. Kudos to the team at Spinogy.

      The difficulty in GER is more about governmental, tax stuff as well as paper work. Which makes it already such a serious headache for startups and other small business. There are other countries within the European Union that make this whole process so much easier.

      @@p_mouse8676 It's the same within these United States. Compliance with overly burdensome government regulations prevents far too many people from even investing in startups and is the direct cause of the failure of a large percentage of those which do launch.

    Yes to the DIY imbalance meter! The _really_ cool thing would be to compare the phase of the drive and the vibration, so you could identify where a balance weight needs to be added as well as how big it needs to be. 😁

    I program doosan turning centers at work, I love how rigid and reliable they are, but Fanuc controllers always feel lackluster compared to Okuma machines. Their GT3100 is a joy of a machine, it roughs steel, stainless, and nickle based alloys with no worries. The live tooling option can be pricey but worth it for sure. The MX2600 is a crazy machine I love to have an excuse to use.
    Good luck on your DIY CNC project, there's a lot to learn on how you're approaching it. Please do add an automatic tool changer, its worth it for automating longer run times that you don't want to spend all day for babysitting the machine.

More than 85% of the aluminum was removed during the machining operations. Other materials and approaches had been tried but none proved adequate for producing a part that was required to aesthetically pleasing.
      Of course, this part was manufactured by a company that produced its own keyboards (which were sealed to prevent entry of dust and water vapor) at a cost of $1,200 US in 1984 (more than $3,500 US in 2023 after adjusting for inflation). Quality was never compromised regardless of the expense.

      When I want Chinese precision machine tools I turn to those manufactured in Taiwan. The quality of items manufactured in mainland China is hit or miss, and that goes for everything from the metal alloys used, to the dimensional accuracy of machined parts, and all the way down to simple things like connections for the wiring. Add to that the 30% import tariffs currently in effect within these United States on on a wide of range of goods from the PRC and the potential rewards don't outweigh the risks.

    They should buy a desktop type CNC to carve out foam for the transport + 3 ply boxes at a minimum. That kind of upgrade might seem trivial, but it's the kind of thing that shows the customers that you aren't playing around (and it's better than perforated cardboard). This is a cheap upgrade that does a lot for the end experience of the person who purchases this jewel.

    • @TheEsseboy
      @TheEsseboy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They avoided foam to be more environmentally friendly, plastic foam is terrible, it easily sheds particles that take hundreds of years to decay, and it can only be incinerated unless collected, sorted and then recycled. We need to limit the use of one time plastics, they really should not been seen as a standard.
      To make it look better they could have used a wooden box with laser cut inserts inside to hold the tool securely. Though wood also has an environmental impact in the form of land use and disturbing forests.

    Building a balancer would be pretty cool... using optical sensor to correlate shaft position with accelerometer readings, FFTs to look at spectra, maybe incorporate an oscilloscope as the central measurement and analysis 'hub'...
