Thank you so much for this, had an overheat issue and like this car the thermo was rusty - replaced it, flushed and bled the system and no more problem. Life saver!

Thank you for your videos. I have a Gen 3 but being a real newbie mechanic this is useful to relate to ...
    Please keep them coming !

And also, always use an Original Toyota thermostat, too hard to get at not to use the best part you can get.

My t-stat seems to be overcooling by just a tad (affecting the turbo, I'm wondering). Probably the wrong one got installed by the PO. Going to replace it when I get the timing belt done, which will hopefully be in the next month or so.

sinistar mr2 could be one that opens at a lower temp. Should open at 82c. Or it's stuck open

I noticed you didn't Jack the car to bleed it, any reason or do you not need to jack the car at the front and back like a seesaw?

I think I'm the only person who thinks used coolant smells delicious.. like maple syrup.

Is there no gasket for the thermostat housing were the bolts go through? Usually cars have one.

@@NewbieMechanic Yeah, I saw that one. I just wasn't sure if maybe there was supposed to be another one on the housing that could be missing here. Thanks.

There is 1 bolt underneath car on coolant return hard line pipe and 1 on sending coolant hard line pipe as well besides bolt on thermostat housing, bolt on water outlet neck, and obviously radiator drain plug, besides the radiator bleeder, and hot water heater core bleeder... For a total of 5 drain plugs and 2 bleeders

I know your hands are full making the video, but you shouldn't put all your parts and tools on the paint. If you have to do that, lay down an old thick towel.
