The excessive consumerism present on social media makes it harder for us to find and build an authentic identity. In fact, this very consumerism becomes an identity itself, and a very harmful one. Greatt video
Something i noticed about the clean girl aesthetic is that they tend to use makeup and hair tricks that women of color did for years. An example is the slick back hair and the brown lip liner trend that everyone was doing a couple months ago.
That’s such a good point I didn’t think of that one. It’s extremely problematic- even for a white girl myself I find it problematic for me personally!!!! Let alone women of dif cultures
so true and the amount of season trends prediction videos instead of trends analysis video is part of the problem because it normalizes seeing trends as something to stick to and keep in mind and if you want to be a little different you have to take the trend and do a little change... it's not just taking inspo but adhering and finally buy those trends 😔 commodifying personality is so important to fashion industry. we as consumers should be very aware of our own integrity
I feel as though we are being plagued by premature aesthetics and cores instead of subcultures and aesthetics that have been a while. I feel like the difference between the two categories is.... The first one offers a style and sometimes a Pinterest image or two, then subculture offers a world view, and a culture for you to get invested in (like punks for example), whilst older aesthetics offered personal values and wants (like cottagecore and dark academia)
love you style and you opinion!!! for me clean girl style it's just a combination of misogyny and it's like you're putting yourself under unnecessary duress.hate it!
Lemme tell u I’m not just saying it but this Sundays vid will defo be for you it’s alllll the places I find inspo from. It might help xx don’t feel pressure ever. Online people makes it sound like a big deal when it’s not x
Literally! I feel like some trends are practical which can be timeless at time but often times it’s not. Though I will always come here since it’s my comfort channel
Tbh going thrifting has helped me a lot! I love vintage items and I tend to work around them, not the other way around! Have fun with your clothes and allow yourself to experiment:)
