    " they won two metals not me"
    So refreshing to have a gymnastics coach that centers the athletes success not their own success

      Mic drop!

      Yep, that was the mic drop for sure. A 180 from how the topic was presented in the fluff piece heyday of the ‘90s, and so refreshing to hear.

    I feel like people don't realize and appreciate Cecile's role behind the scenes. She's just great to the girls and has the ability to calm them down and push them forward in good health and great head space

      Yeah I feel like Laurent gets a lot more of the credit for coaching Simone (which seems to always be so common in husband-and-wife coaching partnerships that the husband gets way more credit for the work then his wife)

    • @mattberry4204
      @mattberry4204 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think most people do. Everyone knows Laurent and Cecile are a duo. USAG gives all the credit to Laurent which is why Cecile doesn’t get much credit.

    • @silverleopardcat
      @silverleopardcat ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@mattberry4204 it's not like USAG is choosing to credit Laurent and not Cecile, but there can only be one head coach. Laurent is the primary technical coach at WCC, so of course they would pick him as the head coach.

      Both of them are great on their own and they are even better together. So proud of seeing them enjoy the real fact that HWPO! Thank you Cécile and Laurent🏆💪👍

    I’m constantly impressed by the WCC coaches. I’m very encouraged having people like them involved in the US program right now, not just for skills but also for the culture of US gymnastics.

    Their athletes are so fortunate to have her and Laurent as coaches. The sport desperately needs more coaches like them.

    When Melanie hit beam, I was literally screaming "THIS WAS ALL YOU, CECILE!!!" The move to WCC paid off immensely for Melanie and this moment was such a testament to that.

    • @katpm4real
      @katpm4real ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Did you catch the homage to Simone in her choreo on beam? ❤

      @@katpm4real WOW! You noticed it too! I have been looking at that routine over and over and every time I do I see more and more aspects of Simone's previous and present beam routine, the motion of the head towards the beam for example. I was hoping she would have added the second LOSO to her beam routine as she did at the CORE CLASSIC but I guess she is not fully confident doing it yet but I am certain it will be ready for next year.
      Now that she has a team medal, I so want her to get an individual one and what a thing that would be if she were to get it at her home country's Olympics, that would be something. For that to be though, Lauent would have to upgrade her bars and floor routine in particular.

    It's so damn refreshing how, after decades of mouthy men acting like they won the medal by operating their pixie-robots by remote, Cecile is constantly reminding the press WHO does the work out there on the day.

    Cecile as also an athlete paved the way for Frances historic medal. It all started from that 95 world team she was on.

    Cecile's jewelry was sparkling but, very understated. Wonder if she bought those pieces in Antwerp? I'd take advantage of the shopping in Antwerp and get some good photos. Sometimes you need to chill and enjoy to remove stress.

      Melanie De Jesus Dos Santos moved to Texas to train with her & her husband Laurent at Simone Biles' family's gym.
      Cecile and Laurent are from France originally :-)
      They can't have credentials for both teams at Worlds but definitely played a bit part in Melanie's success.

    The Landis are the best coaches.. you can tell the way they answered the interviews. Coaches supposed to do that. The FIG should also recognise the effort of the coaches, without them gymnastics is nothing and no entertainment to watch.
