      Чехословакия стояла на пороге реставрации капитализма. Социализм с человеческим лицом это утопия, как и горбачевская перестройка. Брежнев, в отличие от Горбачева, это прекрасно понимал.

      I was grown up in these 20 years as a half Czech, travelling between Prague and the West where we lived several times a year. I still hate the Russians for what they've done to the beautifull country and also for what they are doing now in Ukraine. Russians have a centuries old tradition of surpression and never to be trusted attitude. It's their DNA.

    Embedded in this crisis was the mini-crisis of the making of
    the American war epic movie "The Bridge At Remagen" that
    was filmed in Czechoslovakia at the time.
    The scouts had found there a bridge that looked like the Ludendorff bridge
    on the Rhine at Remagen.
    It was then the Spring Of Prague & the Czech government allowed the filming.
    The Americans brought with them some WW2 vintage M-24 light tanks.
    That was enough for adipose-leonid's professionaliars to accuse the Dubcek
    government of opening Czechoslovakia to NATO, stoking the fires of calls for invasion from the likes of Wilhelm Ulbricht.

    • @johnnotrealname8168
      @johnnotrealname8168 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it is disingenuous to use events after the countries joined N.A.T.O. to justify them joining N.A.T.O. I despise the commies but not only was there a promise not to move N.A.T.O. East, the Russians were begging the Americans not to do so back in the '90s. I do not blame the Eastern-European countries as much, although by that point N.A.T.O. was pretty useless, since you know but the West should have tried to woo Russia as well as be fraternal.

    • @dannydetonator
      @dannydetonator 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I can't speak for the Czech people, but apart from some Jewish and gypsy families, all of current Russia's neighbours will confirm that Nazi occupation were less brutal and a marginally lesser evil. Probably shorter duration and fact that first occuation was done by the Red army (1939) not Wehrmacht add to that bias. Perception from anyone of that period is that reds were worse, even it's a huge generalisation and maybe some wartime propaganda. However this mostly comes from human interaction with soldiers and post-war Soviet propaganda completely erased and upturned any traces of other propagandas and facts alike. A common theme recounted from the first sources during the war is - Germans came giving chocolate and other gestures of goodwill and kept order, while Russians looted and trashed everything they wanted and executed anyone suspected of non-loyalty and higher class without scrupulae. Source: my grandparents and their friends.
