    U could probably get a lot of those off cuts sold on marketplace. Plenty of guys like me that don’t want to pay Home Depot prices for metal that would make use of them. Or possibly donate to a local school that still has shop class. But ur right, it’s not gonna be a money maker

    Glad to see you have been busy, Gary. Being busy will definitely fund the new equipment which means you will be having more fun!

    Well now you have made the jump from not having enough work to having more than enough to keep busy. I'm glad for you Gary. Sounds like a little lean to is in the offing, similar to the paint booth, but with access directly into the shop for your off cuts. Things always get rearranged as you find out what works best for what you are doing.

    Thanks for the update. Good to see things are working out well. Seems like having a lot of stuff building up means you're doing a lot of jobs :-)

    Lotta good ideas in the comments. Like the car logos n numbers idea. Kit parts too. You could be stacking sellables instead of hating the haul to scrap. Have a "paint it yourself" kinda inventory. Glad you're busy, no doubt you make more not filming n feeding trolls lol. Thanks for sharing

    Dude! Laser cutter would be damn impressive... On the off-cuts... I see shops fill their sheets up with kit parts... Most of them have various kits and whenever they have a blank spot, they just fill in the void with a part, then stack all those parts on a shelf. When it comes time to put kits together, they have 90% of the parts already made. The other idea is to make numbers of all sizes for folks to use as address numbers. Lastly, there's a dude in KC who goes to all the car shows. He has every make/model's logo. You could just cut logos from the parts as you need to fill in your sheets... Then you're only handling your scrap 1 time and that's to put it on your scrap trailer.

      Another good filler for off cuts is random gussets and end caps... also maybe storing on pallets on shelves? Maybe in a "shed"

    It's amazing how quick drops can accumulate.

    Gary, how about a local trade school for the welding coupons?

      Second this, if you don't want to scrap it for whatever reason, offer it to a local trade school, the school I went to would have picked up all of it without you doing any more work to it. Welding would have taken the plate and structural, machining would take the bar

    I went to a minimum length and time limit on my offcuts. If it isn't at least 3' long I get rid of it and if I don't use it in a year it's gone. Maybe set a rough dollar amount on plate left overs and a time limit you'll keep it.

    OMG you have tons of gOOdies in your shop.I'm similar to you but my shop is all automotive.I wonder if you couldn't make a tall rotary rack for all your metal supplies.Good luck gettin' your shop the way you want it.I love that plasma table you have.I wish I could fit something like that in my garage.I have 3 1/2 car garage and it's packed to the rafters including to cars...I pull my hair out everytime I find another project to do but hope to cure that soon.

    Are the bottom sections of your orange parts cabinets made from flat file drawers? Are they supporting the weight?

    • @turbocobra
      @turbocobra  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes i built some square tubing supports that go between the top cabinets and those flat file cabinets. its been 4-5 years now and no problem, has worked out great. nice not to have tool drawers stacked full and you cant see whats in the bottom lol

    Trust me, you don't want to be Famous!! You'll become a Puppet. Stay low key, off the grid. You become a known name, here come the Haters!! Consider the Liability, Insurance, permits, Business license, so on. Keep it fun, low key, but you can still make a decent living enjoying building things out of Metal!!

    U should help some guys out the way u were talking about selling everything for people who need practice. Metal is expensive and it can take a hit on your pocket. Especially people who want to experiment with exotic metals
