As a quest 1 user, I’ve gotten used to mine Idk if I’m just lucky or not but mine almost works as well as a quest 2 when it comes to standalone etc The games are quite laggy though. My headset doesn’t run into nearly as many problems that are mentioned in this video besides the strap and it being heavy and giving me migraines.
At least for me, I don’t have too many issues with RecRoom while using my Oculus Quest 1. Most of the issues in this video are caused by your computer, such as the long loading times or the lag. I never turn off my headset and leaved it plugged into my pc, which prevents many connection issues as well as the long setup for link. Overall, the Quest 1 is still a great pcvr headset, however there are many variables that can hinder your experience.
Got my quest 1 in Christmas 2019, just upgraded to a quest 2 this Christmas after saving money. OH MY GOSH i knew the quest 2 was good but not this good!
I made my own wireless link for my headsets by using the usb and connecting a antenna onto it it took a while to get it working but now my quest 2 is more powerful then the latest Xbox as it’s connected to a gaming pc and the latest Xbox giving it the power to play semi realistic games
Ive tried and played quest 1 and 2 when they came out but have never owned one until now. I saw a used quest 1 for 90 bucks and just had to buy it. Even if mark fuckerburg trys to cut down support I can still resort to pc. I got no issues with my headset. I honestly prefer it over the quest 2
i remember when game systems lasted ages before issues started arrising. I had the orignal xbox play with no issues until 2013 , my first year in college where the hard drive started to give. its crazy how these high tech devices only last about 5 years and conveniently start to degrade once a new product is on the shelves.
This bothers me a little being honest. The Playstation VR, which is a 2016 headset with hardware from a 2013 console, still receives some games here and there in 2024 and you can use it without problems not only on the PS4/PS4 Pro but also on the PS5. On the other hand, the Oculus Quest, which is a 2019 headset, is already completely abandoned and is on the verge of being unusable and the same will probably happen with the Quest 2 soon and we are already seeing some games that only work on the Quest 3 with less than a year of release. This really makes me hesitant to think about buying a standalone VR.
@@MoonSarito that's why I waited and just bought an excellent quest 2 for $125. It still works great for me. And I'll buy a quest 3 the same way. A generation behind is still good, and a fraction of the cost. Not just for the headset either. Accessories are much cheaper too.
Hello, i am not really quest 1 owner, but i have some advices for your problems: In side quest you can click device options in the corner set gpu/cpu level to 4 by doing it you will boost your headset performance(of course your battery in nonpcvr mode will drain even faster) but still performance is performance. You can buy the link cable(not original) with aditional power supply so your hadset will not drain out ever. When i had cv1 i liked the stock strap, so no advice for that. Have a good luck!
I got a few of these problems on my quest 2 from launch but my battery I get a hour and 10 minutes on a good rec room session and it takes like a minute and a half to turn on and that’s if it doesn’t bug out. Anyway best of luck to your quest and I do not know how you lived with such a small refresh rate for so long.
Yea, i have the Quest 1, and i put it to rest. Quest 1 was great on release, but the updates have def slowed it down a LOT(my standalone menu works btw, no idea why) However the quest 1 battery is good. I got like 3-4 hours.
When I had the Quest 2 I heard the Quest 1 was better, and I saw it was more expensive and said "Yeah it probably is", but after being denied the Quest 1 I never thought of it again. Bullet dodged. (I have a Quest 3 now btw)

New headstrap + silicone face cover changed the og quest for me in pcvr. I just started using it after 4 years lol pretty much brand new! I'll wait 1-2 more years
The only problem you can really fix is the battery with a battery pack, but you're better off with a quest 2 or quest 3. Quest 1 has to completely rely on link at this point, you might as well be playing on a Rift.
I use the Ocolus Quest 1 and it still works like new. Ofc there's some lag but that really is just after joining a game and the lag is gone after 10 seconds.
My quest just flat out doesnt work anymore. Cant connect to anything and can't play games natively. I shat out 900 dollars for it 4 years ago. (I live in sweden and they said "shipping" or sum shit) And then literally 2 months after i got it the quest 2 released.

Idk if im just lucky but my quest 1 still runs perfectly fine and even manages to run some quest 2 games when sideloaded like it runs resident evil 4 perfectly or bonelab also works or blade and sorcery also ran decent
@@coneheadvr1 I only use my Quest-1 in native mode for MAME4adroid (arcade emulator) and watching 3D movies. I really got attached to the OLED display in those 2 usages, and I use my Quest-2 native for doing workouts. I have the Quest-3 with the Pro controllers for everything else (still native as I don't have a gaming PC)

(the smell of the quest 1 was better then the smell of the quest 2) its crazy how much i miss this (buying all your games) (finding other quest 1 survivors) (headset dying after 4 hours and not 3)

Online support is already guttered because it is tied to the servers. Funniest part is the fact that some games didn’t have to announce no more support because the Quest couldn’t handle games like Blaston.
i was on quest 1 since Christmas 2019, just got a quest 3, 4-5 years later and the reaction i had to the quality change was so dramatic.

if you slide the battery forward, while swinging the controller, your hand will fly and spin like a Frisbee.

They broke it with updates. A friend has a nearly brandnew Q1 because he buy one and nearly never use. He has the same problems.

Naw I had the worst lag on a quest two. The headset isn’t the problem the wi-fi loding into any room on my vr takes at minimum 30 seconds.

How? I’ve been a proud oculus quest 1 user since christmas 2019. My game randomly just stopped working back in 2022 and it hasn’t worked since.
i use the quest 1 with a pc! they shut down standalone q1 support in 2022 unfortunately
im on a psvr 1 and im gonna upgrade to quest 2 airlink next year.
ps: here are my pc specs gpu: gtx 1650, cpu: ryzen 5 3500H and 8 gb of ddr5 ram.
Definitely get quest 3 if your gonna upgrade next year, by then quest 2 will be almost ancient.
