About time. North East Indian music is an ocean in itself. Apart from traditional, modern and folk music, North East is also India's hub of rock and metal music.

Northeast consists of 7 Sisters (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland) and 1 Brother ( Sikkim ). We have great music but most of them went unnoticed even in the podcast so hope you do check out more in the future.

NorthEast is the musical region of India. Shillong is called the Rock Capital of India and also called the Scotland of the East. You will never be disappointed with the music from the region. Kids here grow up with a musical instrument and sports. Check out some more artists

My first experience with Northeast music was when I listened to Bhupen Hazarika. For me Northeast music is incomplete without Bhupen Hazarika.

What you have searched is North India. Northeast India is different. Consists of 8 states bordering China , Myanmar and Bangladesh

I'm from Assam, one of the 7 sister states (northeastern states).. I'm glad you included our region in your podcast, a huge thank you! This podcast missed Zubeen Garg and many other talented artists, as this is one the first podcast ever done on our music, I'm sure it'll cover up in the next reactions.. India is not only culturally and liguistcally diverse it is also diverse in topography desserts in west also salt desserts/marsh , mountains north and north east, rivers , greenery , beaches u name it .

North East Cypher has become the regional anthem of NE states in last 2 yrs .. Especially Jelo , Moko Koza , Yelhomie , K4 Kekho has become household names all over India

THANK YOU so much for this!! I'm ashamed to say I was not aware of so many of these artists, and they have all been such revelations! Especially North East Cypher!! Each single one of them was 🤯!! And such bold lyrics which no one from the rest of the country would probably even dare to put out in public. Its a shame this piece of art did not go viral and spread like wildfire in the rest of the country. Also, I am not sure why you googled North India during this podcast on north EAST Indian music. These two regions are quite distinct, geographically, topologically and culturally.
North East India is mostly neglected by the main India.. it have many tribes and different culture... The North East India mostly speaks English.. and in Mizoram they mostly speaks English

North India and North-East Indian are two different regions of India. Being almost 2500 KM away from each other,both the regions are very different in terms of language and music.. As a part of North East India i'm glad that you have included this region in your list..But you have missed some great singers from this part of India...I am suggesting some names here please do check out

Just to give a little background, NorthEast India is a landlocked region of seven Indian states which are very much vibed like south East Asian nations and is culturally and linguistically very different from rest of India. It's one of the most unexplored regions in the world with a unique culture, language, and people

When did Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya & Arunachal Pradesh become culturally different from the rest of India , or even Bengal....Shillong was teeming with Bengalis before their cleansing was started by the ULFA & the BODO militants in the late 80s. Only Nagaland & Mizoram, being converted to christianity form tribalism is somewhat culturally different from the rest of the sister states.

Vande Mataram is actually the National song of India. It’s sung in Hindi and the little girl sung it with its original lyrics. There are tonnes of different versions. But this was cute. At a young age she knows how to sing well.

North and North-East are very very different in India culture wise, music wise. Do not confuse between them. North Indian music means Hindustani music which also is the music of Pakistan and also of Bollywood so you are not listening to North Indian music for the first time. North-East? Yes, maybe.
