I bloody love a cammed V8 as always a top review Jon. Sorry to be a LS nerd but I'm pretty sure that is a L98. The manual VE SS came out with L98 and the auto the L77 with LS2'S only in the VZ/VE HSVs there all 6L so easy to confuse them. Haha there is more LS variants than a someone could poke a stick at and I love every single one of em.

@@RossReviewsau haha don't worry mate most LS owners don't even know the difference between the LS's apart from the LS1,2,3 LSA not knowing there is heaps more to the LS family. At the end of the day it don't matter ay they are all great platforms and I'd have to say the L98 is better then the LS2 because LS2 have the old cathedral heads but a better cam where as the L98 has square port (LS3 style) heads and intake manifold so after a cam upgrade the LS2 makes less power than a L98 for the same upgrades lol sorry being a bloody nerd again

Only their one tonners had leaf sprung rear.

@@kresnik_ss nice colour and looks good. I actually like the VE.
Why would Ford choose leaf springs in a market that they knew would automatically associate them with old tech unless there was a mighty good reason to?
Putting in an independent rear in a ute indicates they were aiming at a lifestyle market, not serious load carrying prowess as their main purpose is. It always bothered me.
I would still consider one as I am not interested in lugging a load of bricks either. I'm talking about the market as a whole.

The car based ute was devised to give a car like experience while being able to carry bigger items a car couldn't carry. Yours just ups the car side of things that bit more and that's perfectly valid and in reality, a very small percentage ever load them to the gills, so may as well enjoy the best car like dynamics on offer.

When Holden released the VE, the public were in the early stages of moving away from large sedans and into twincab utes and SUV's. That one billion spent to develop the VE was money squandered.
I realised even back then that Holden had nothing left, and was on borrowed time.
A twincab ute and SUV designed and built inhouse with a uniquely Aussie name and character would have resonated with Holden fans, and saved the company.
They just didn't foresee the future correctly.
Once they began importing even the Commodore, I just gave up on them.

Nice, well sorted Ute👌👍. I had a VE2 Ute & thought the dash/console was an improvement over the previous model, my VE had factory sat nav. I'd like the same tuning & engine mod's from the VE in the review on my VF Ute.

@@supraaa94rzI sold my VK for fkning $800. They go for $30K to 60K now. Also it wasn't COVID that price hike. Holden Elizabeth 20 mins from me north of Adelaide stopped production and all Holden's sky rocketed. But yeah COVID probably also didn't help but main reason is Holden stopping production and many now hold price or gone up massive like your VL, MY VK, my old VP Calais bought 4K sold $ 5k thought I made a good profit Holden closed down and when looked up both VK and VP I nearly had heart attack in so sad. VK like I said above $30-60k I got for $500 from a front yard and did it up. VP Calais now $20k -$40 if I kept both and sold yeah that's around 100K. 30K I would put in VE SS V8 UTE and rest into a house. Or kept the VK as had such sentimental value to me being first car, first vehicle had a root in and priceless memories me and first girlfriend. But yeah.
Anyways have a good day and weekend. I'm glad I'm not only one sold for cheap and lost big hahah 😅😤
