They just need 2 more quality bats and some better relief pitchers and they’ll definitely compete with cleveland. Cleveland is tough cause their bullpen is absolutely lights out
The real change is hiring real pitching coaches. And they've had Witt, Perez, Renfroe and Massey play as well as could be imagined, and Pasq, Garcia, and Isbel being decent. They've been very good at finding pitchers, Ragans and Lugo especially, and getting more out of Singer and Marsh than the previous coaches would have. Making much better decisions a dozen times a year will get you significantly better fairly rapidly, it gets more challenging from here because finding a good player to replace an OK player is more difficult than finding an OK player to replace a bad player.
As a Royals fan of so many years, I really enjoyed this video, harkening back to the past and the timeline of everything. Great job! I'm hoping we can hang around the wild card race and the series vs. Cleveland was encouraging, but we all know baseball is where anything can happens. Good video!
The only issue is that if anybody gets injured, they're screwed due to their lack of farm depth. All thanks to the horrible final half decade of Dayton Moore.
I'm not as plugged in as you, I'm sure, but I don't get this. I mean, we're just a couple years from Dayton's tenure and MLB teams don't flip this fast unless they go on a buying spree and the Royals didn't (and never will). So doesn't Dayton get some credit for this?
Absolutely great video! I'm biased as a Royals fan, but really dig the way you lay things out and the pace at which you explain it. Here's to hoping they correct course a bit and keep outperforming expectations! Let's go Royals!
As a Royals fan, this season has been very exciting even with the down trend they’re currently going through, just to at least some some success and some want to win from ownership. I’m excited to see the future of the team and hope they can build on what they got
Huge royals fan here. God I wish our bullpen was better this season. I feel terrible for our starting rotation. Constantly having outings giving up 0 to 3 runs, just to get a no decision
This month we’ve just been struggling offensively and sometimes pitching, that’s now back 2 back wins against the guardians and we just scored 10 runs.
This video is perfect. I went to the game tonight and we slapped the first place Guardians which are a good team. Watch out for this team, if the D-Bags can do it last year why can't the Royals.
When the royals made the WS in 2014 they were 2 games above 500 before the all star game and look at how it turned out for them, this team has a great chance of making a good run.
I truly believe that the tragic, untimely death of 23 year old superstar and farm system product Yordano "Ace" Ventura set the Royals back from being a possible dynasty to the bottom of the basement again.... By the age of 22, Ventura had been to 2 World Series and he pitched game 1 the year they won the championship....
They just beat the 1st place Guardians in a 4 game series with the lineup looking back on track. Gonna be hard to rebuild the whole bullpen though, which they desperately need.
15:16 if you were a mariners fan who's watched a few previous Ms-royals series from the past couple of years, this game wasn't just painful, it echoed just how chaotic these two specific teams are against each other. In 2022 Seattle blew another 8 run lead when in KC, and in 2023 the Ms set a franchise record by hitting 7 homeruns in a home game where they beat KC 15-2. If these two meet each other in the playoffs, the baseball world would lose its damn mind.
Ownership wants a new stadium! That is why they built a better than 500 team. Love Salvy, Witt and the starters. The relievers aren't hot so far. Hopefully Kansas can resist temptation and make Missouri and the Royals ownership pay for a new park.
Idk if it was your Roki Sasaki video, or when you commented on my comment, or your just dope and I love your videos but I frickin love your videos.. I love the music choices and background sounds, even the way you talk.. im done lol but thank you!
As a Tigers fan, I give much respect to you guys for putting a winning team on the field. I didn’t think you’d ever be back. Look below you in the standings and you’ll see the Tigers😩
Excited to see where this team ends up, but they are a far cry from the 2013-16 run where the bullpen just didn’t give up leads. This year’s bullpen is a mess and that often leads to heartbreak in October. However, their offense this year has pulled off some insane come from behind wins this year and that often leads to glory in October. Not anticipating a deep run, but you never know.
As a Royals fan you nailed a lot of our worries on the head. The main problems are consistency on offense (even Vinnie and Salvy have gone through prolonged slumps this year) and high end talent in the bullpen. One of those things is easier to fix than the other though and adding 2 of Fairbanks/Adam/Estevez/Finnegan/Harvey and even more not off the top of my head makes this team all the more dangerous. As to Wacha opting out after this year that’s fine because we have both Kris Bubic (who had legitimately turned the corner before he got hurt) and Kyle Wright coming back from Injury. Those 2 guys added to the Ragans/Lugo/Singer/Marsh Rotation mix gives 6 legit MLB SP’s to pick 5 from. That’s not even mentioning guys like Chandler Champlain whose one of the best Pitching Prospects nobody talk about or if they take Burns or Smith at 6 who could possibly be viable as early as the 2nd half next year. This combined with Gavin Cross who has his Mojo back after getting Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever last year and the improvement of quite a few position players in the Minors this year means a much brighter future for the Royals than most people think. With a Rotation that’s struggled other than Bibee, a Bullpen prime for regression, and an offense even more reliant on RISP and high leverage spots than the Royals it seems to me that the Guardians are the biggest Mirage in MLB so far this year…
I had 0 expectations coming into this year, just hoping they wouldn't lose more games than they had last year. If they keep playing the way they have, they'll have blown me away - good enough to make the postseason and be competitive with the best, even if not beating the best yet. It's been a long wait for this. So happy to see the Royals doing well enough to have a good video about them come around! Thank you!
Is it that surprising that they are not awful? They got Will Smith. The last 3 teams that did that won the world series Seriously though he has been on the last 3 world series winning teams and that fact is kind of astounding
Am I the only person who thought the royals would be good this year? I watched them play the Phillies last year and they had a good very young offense with very very awful pitching so I thought with a year for their young players to develop and getting some pitching they could be a good to great team this year
I thought they’d be at least decent, possibly a sneaky good team if everything went the right way for them which it looks like they are. They may be good enough to sneak into the playoffs this year if they keep things up. I can’t see Boston getting in and the Rays and Astros have significantly fallen off this year, with both of them looking like a shell of themselves.
On a Royals-Phillies highlight video from last season, the top comment summed the 23 Royals up very well “They are literally the best bad team in MLB history”
Gotta get a closer and figure out who can be consistent set up pitchers. Royals hammer bullpens, but the Royals bullpen gets hammered. Hopefully this homestand will build some confidence and they can carry that momentum to the road. If they can mortgage the future for another run, I say do it. Let's not do 2003 again where they made no moves after 93 days in 1st place and we had to wait a decade+ before we got back to the playoffs. There are no more dynasties in baseball, and certainty no chance for one in a small market. Go for the win. If they fall short and suck for years so be it. I've already done a 30 year sentence. Our last Championship is no longer a generation ago and I would rather risk it.
Mcarthur has been pretty good this year. 15 saves, 28 Ks and a 1.30 whip if he stays playing well enough the closer situation isn’t that bad. schreiber is also good
@domlancaster5412 +4 ERA and 4 blown saves is not a Championship closer. If the Royals had 4 more wins, they wouldn't be on the knife's edge of the final Wild Card spot.
@@ToadHallPub i’m not saying he’s the best but i’m also not saying he’s the worst. that 5 pitch out last night was pretty good but yeah he does have his down days
@domlancaster5412 again...Championship closer. 5 outs is mop up duty because we don't have a closer. It would be impossible to recreate HGH, but if the Royals want to catch lightning in a bottle, they need to trade for a shut down closer. MacArthur can be the set up

I have already been subscribed but thank you for covering teams that are not typically covered in-depth by major baseball youtoubers/podcasters.
The ebbs and flows of baseball. Playing the Guardians this weekend at home and we're up 2-0 in a 4 game series. And the Twins are playing the Mariners right now, lost a game, so now we're tied. There's still a lot of baseball left and the Royals are definitely still in the WC race. Just need guys to stay healthy.
Not sure why anyone would have thought they'd be awful after the busy of season they had. I didn't think they be a 90 win team but it might be possible...

We shouldn’t sell the farm or anything but it would be so disappointing if they sell. If they trade Wacha it will kill fan support. We will either be buyers or we will not do anything.

Haven’t started the video yet as I type this but they weren’t supposed to be awful. They spent more money this offseason than quite a few teams. Bobby Witt Jr was clearly a superstar on the cusp of breaking out last year. It seems like AL and NL central teams get overlooked by too many people. Just my thought
The fact they’re actually living up to their potential is actually quite stunning in its own right because they’re the type of team to constantly underachieve. After all, they’re the same team that used to have a 29 year playoff drought.
It's cool to see the pitching turn around so quickly after Moore got canned. You've also totally convinced me getting past the deadline without dealing Wacha away would be criminal

At the All-Star Break, KC will be over .500 and a good weekend away from being back as a wild card (only 2.5 games out after that rough stretch). They lost 106 games last year. The fact that they are even contending is a minor miracle, but being in a position to be a buyer and not a seller is what could turn this into a whole-ass miracle season. A bullpen can get fixed and a bat can be added really quickly at the trade deadline. A lot about the front office will be learned in the next few weeks, in how aggressive or passive they are. I remember the difference adding Cueto did for the entire energy of the clubhouse. Or what acquiring Ben Zobrist did for giving guys more days off without sacrificing offense or defense. They have some tradable pieces too. This could be fun.
