Living with low flow egr code for about 4 months, I figured it was time to deal with it. I watched your vid instead of ordering an egr on my 2000 galant, I pulled that vacuum hose blew threw it from both ends a few times and reinstalled. I started the car and the check engine light was still on. After about a week the light has turned off! Thanks! Saved me throwing parts at the problem I was about to order an egr for 50 bucks.

Thanks man. I cleaned out all hoses a few month ago... thought it had a obstruction in it and pulled it out and tossed it. As soon as you started to mention it I knew which hose u meant. Off to the junkyard I go. For the diagram, yall just take a screenshot when he holds it up
THANK YOU!! 6 years later, and this video was the key to clearing that dang P0401 code in my 2002 Galant ES V6 That little tube was STUFFED with carbon deposits. You sir are a hero.
I own an Eclipse 2000 GS and the P401 code keeps popping up. Replace the hoses and luckily I did not throw them away, I checked the hoses for splits and found the brass ferrule/restrictor and cut it out. The check engine light has gone off as a consequence!! Another issue is the seal on the gas tank cap eg losing the vacuum . Great video , it sounds like a problem on all eclipses.

Did it work for you? I have been chasing this ghost with my 03 spyder convertible for over a year with my mechanic. He finally gave up after hitting me with a $XXXX bill for labor and parts. If it worked for you I am going to try this on the next warm day and see if I can finally get it inspected and registered for this summer season.

Benhamin Pineda I'm a bit confused about Your 2nd question. But your 1st question the answer is you need to take off the tube And clean the restrictor with a toothpick or something.

One other thing as well that I have found out... Change that orange thing (EGR Vacuum Solenoid) on my car even when got a hold of the transistor hose the p0401 code kept showing up (service engine soon) so I changed the egr Vacuum solenoid and it hasn't come up ever since...
I have a 01 Eclipse Spyder GT, 3.0, Convertible, Automatic. I'm fighting a" P0401 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected". EGR, EGR Solenoid was replaced. The EGR Solenoid and Vacuum Control Value was swapped with one I got from Pick and Pull and I still got the same code. In the video you referred to the Vac Control Value as a Restrictor or did I miss understood you? Do you have any suggestion on this problem?
Just replaced my O2 sensor and my CEL immediately came back on due to the fxcking EGR valve now. Do you think something with the new O2 sensor caused the EGR to malfunction? Also, would either issue cause a rough idle?
I just found this video I’ve been having the same issue for two years. I’m just worried that it might be to late because now I have constant o2 sensor codes and Catalytic converter code. Is it possible that the problem with the egr valve made the o2 sensor and catalytic converter go. Or do you think once I fix this the other codes will turn off. I’m at a crossroads because this issues been driving me to move on from my eclipse.

I have a code P0660 "Intake Manifold Tuning Valve Circuit Fault bank 1" and I have no idea what I need to do in order to fix it. Also the 2 oxygen sensors on Bank 1 side of my engine are shot, I've replaced the upstream sensor but not the downstream. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to fix my problem?
YES it is! I have a 2003 GTS and just found the hose(has white trails/dashes on it). There's a hose that has GREEN trail markings on it, remove that green hose out of the way to get to the hose that has white marking(they are right next to one another.) Remember how you took the white hose out(haven't figured out if there's a certain way it goes.) Spray some Carb cleaner in the white hose, look down the hose with a flashlight...is it clear? If so, put back on the way it came off, and MAKE SURE to reattach the other line with the green markings. Double check that all hoses are connected!(Because our big hands can move other hoses loose in such a tight space.)
benjamin gilmore gotcha, I've had the engine light on for the whole time I've had the car and changed the EGR valve and solenoid however never thought of the tubes. My mechanic is working on cleaning the drain to my A.C. I'll see if he can take a look at the tubes you pointed out.

Yes there's a very small restrictoror inside of the air tube. When I couldn't fix that code for ever and ever that is what was wrong with it.
But also try buying some new parts instead of the used ones.

Hey did your mechanic just took out that restrictor inside the tube in order for the code to go away or did he just clean it
He removed the restrictor to clean it, then placed it back into the tube. DO NOT JUST TAKE IT OUT.

Oh, I meant is the hose clear of any carbon or soot. Sometimes it gets clogged.
