Deciding to move away from family and friends turned out to be a remarkably positive choice for me. It liberated me from the weight of others expectations and the constraints of societal pressures. It felt akin to forging a new identity, unburdened by the limitations of my previous life. However, I recognise that such a path might not appeal to everyone.
‘Allo, ‘allo. With your positive attitude, you’ll do well. There’s so many Brit’s in Australia I don’t think twice when I hear the different accents in the workplace.
Great premise for a new year with the Bam Fam .. (shortening tis all) - the addition of the actual Year when setting up the subject matter worked a treat.
Awesome video I don’t know what to do about that bit move back to my second home is Brisbane or stay here in Auckland. Only thing I do miss big time is my sons are in Brisbane and the weather and the beaches and the good old 4 w D tracks 😊
I loved Australia but I have to say Vegemite is not a patch on Marmite, which is more acrid, tangy and salty. But then I've been eating it since 1971 so I'm biased.
2:32 thats the best part…living in ca is the same cost but better wages. Not working holiday but only working . As a vet chef and chef instructor i got this. A clean slate is what i want. The juice is WELL WORTH the squeeze
We have a bunch of friends who are (UK and other) immigrants. Overwhelmingly they are positive about their move here, but yes some people underestimate the sheer distance from family. Thankfully Zoom, FaceTime, and the internet generally alleviates this a bit, but imagine decades ago! I admit that I'm a little disappointed that you passed Ben a stubby without a stubby-cooler. 😂
I think sometimes homesickness hits the ones that don’t expect it and it’s just something they can’t help. But you’re right, the internet certainly makes it a million times easier. Haha I’m hanging my head in shame right now 😆xx
On the regular pest spraying comment: google why it’s not good to spray for spiders…. All you need is to keep your termite control up to date, which is one treatment every five to ten years.
Hubby & the boys tried vegemite when we came over, they hated it, which put me off of even trying it, and I'm a marmite lover here in the UK. Timtams however, now they alone are a reason to come to Oz 😅 yum 😋
Moving for good in June, very excited and anxious at the same time, I don’t have a sweet tooth 🦷 but when I was in Queensland in November, I got addicted to Tim tams 😋, they are going to ruin me 😂
I want to move there. I get SSI from the government here in USA. I will have to sell everything. Just take my clothes, laptop and guitar, but I want to make sure I’m still getting ssi over there just live somewhere affordable. I’m single with no kids age 42. I’ve been thinking that I might have to live out of a hotel until I can find a place all the hotels I seen over the Internet are way out of my price range, but I am cleaning on moving there. I want to take a flight probably American Airlines.

Underestimate the distance??
Like UK to Oz is the furthest you can literally travel over the world lol
@@ykook7000 actually UK to New Zealand is further...... literally.......lol. So is Cambodia to Peru.
One thing missing from this video is we don’t have a washing machine in the kitchen.

We would love too! Hubby's a truck driver though so not many options at the moment . And Visa prices are insane for 5 of us xxx
I’m surprised Truck drivers are not on the list for jobs. Always see companies looking for drivers 🤔
Same as, you would think truckies would be sought after xx
There's plenty of jobs going! But cos it's not on the skilled list . Companies don't really want to sponsor . X
Truckies in the mines $$$

@@TheBAMFamalam I think we tried just about every variation of Tim Tams while we were out there 😋😅

Not good time, rent and house prices are ridiculous high now due to so many migrant especially from NZ.
Do you have any recommendations for visa agents coming from the UK?
With regards for visa fees, do you have to pay the full amount upfront or can you pay in instalments.
Upfront only
Vegemite is the best....
I sure am a big fan too, although Ben is very unaustralian towards Vegemite 🤣
Tomorrow, I’m going to put minutes on my phone so I can call a few places there this Social Security office landlordsS

The way the UK is heading I'm sure more Brits will want out from their once home country that's no more thanks to illegal immigrants getting in.
It is so important to embrace a new culture when emigrating. Not necessarily to ditch your own culture completely, but you certainly have to adapt xx
I couldn't agree more,,,, The Poms, Greeks and Italian's made this country great,,,, the ""others"""are tearing it apart
Tim Tams are a ripoff of the British Penguin biscuit
Both are awful!
