@@FlamSparks Uh, that would be a pretty grotesque image. It clearly says “wingless”, not “flightless”. Strictly speaking, the only birds who don’t have wings are penguins (they technically have flippers instead), so in all other cases, a bird would basically have to be mutated or mutilated to not have wings. Like I said, not a pleasant mental image. That was why I asked somebody who speaks French fluently enough to know the idioms of the language. The lyricist wouldn’t have thrown it in there if it wasn’t going to be understood by a French-speaking audience. That’s one of the trickiest things about languages. Sometimes the literal translation and the actual meaning are very different. In this case, it’s just an idiom where you kind of have to know the language on a native level to understand, but in Japanese, even translating “simple” language can get really messy. I say this because Japanese is the language that I do song translations on in my spare time. It’s good for improving my skills in the language. The Japanese version of Show Yourself is more straightforward, as Disney songs in Japanese tend to be rather simplistic so that children can understand them easily.
@@silkyflower3188 it actually happens pretty often that lyricists come up with sentences which are not exactly clear. The title of the French version of A Whole New World is "This blue dream" (blue does not mean "sad" in French, but doesn't have a specific meaning either), and no one knows what it's actually supposed to mean. Same for the French title of How Far I'll Go, which is Le bleu lumière, meaning a blue with a "light hue". Again, no one knows what's supposed to mean. They are only very evocative pictures with no real meaning behind them
@@FlamSparks Although personally, to me, I would take Le Bleu Lumière to mean “a blue light” or “a blue radiance”, referring to the light of dawn on the horizon. Though since I haven’t watched Moana, I don’t know precisely at what time of day How Far I’ll Go takes place. “Blue light” or “blue radiance” is definitely how I would understand that on an instinctual level though. It could also refer to the radiance of the sea or of the sky (sea seems more likely considering the context). “This Blue Dream”... mmm... I don’t feel like it really needs to be taken as a metaphor, honestly. The actual scene has an overall bluish tint to it because it is nighttime, whereas the carpet ride itself is like a dream, so to me, that seems pretty self-explanatory.
I love that font. where can I get that letter "J" (from Je te cherche) ? I wish to replace my profile "J" with that one. or "Je te cherche" would do, too
What does means this translation? 1. In your fortress, you keep countless secrets, the wildest of dream, but why would you hide away? 2. You, who's been haunting my days and nights for so long 3. And in this loneliness, I'm ready to take the great leap. 4. I used to be an another planet, stranger on my own house 5. I'm looking for you, such a beautiful promise, I'm looking for you, I, wingless bird I hope the answer, thanks
I''ll try to explain to you what all this means in French (French disney songs are very metaphorical x) ) 1- "In your fortress, you keep countless secrets, the wildest of dream, but why would you hide away?" --> in you, you hide a lot of secrets. Incredible dreams. But why are you hiding ? Remember that Elsa thinks she is speaking to the fifth spirit when in reality she is talking to herself. She tells herself not to hide, to show what she dreams of (be free); 2- "You, who's been haunting my days and nights for so long" --> You, who are always around me. You, who I always think of; 3- "And in this loneliness, I'm ready to take the great leap." --> Loneliness can come from waiting. In this solitude where she waits for the answer, she is ready to go in search of the truth (I'm ready to toake the great leap --> dare to do something); 4- "I used to be an another planet, stranger on my own house" --> "be another planet" means in French "to be different from others" as if we weren't from the same world. "stranger on my own house" : she felt like a stranger while she was at home, as if she was out of place. 5-"I'm looking for you, such a beautiful promise, I'm looking for you, I, wingless bird": very difficult to understand, very metaphorical. "I, wingless bird" means that before Elsa was a "bird" that could not fly. She was a bird in a cage. At the moment of this sentence she has like wings appearing. Now she becomes completely free. "Promesse" in French have different meaning : promise but also presage, proposal. So when Elsa sings "Such a beautifull promise", she says that, she , who a bird without wings, can now fly freely. Thanks this promise, this presage that says "Once you find who you are, you are free". I don't know if it's very clear. don't hesitate to tell me if you want other explanations !
@@sakurapotter16 I finally I understand your explanations that of course are very clear, I'm grateful that you've explained in each sentence to me. I thank you infinitely.
if you don't speak french i will explain too you, I'm french and the text is very emotionnal for us dans the translate of the french version to english is not this much emotionnal, i have chills all the time listenning to this version
No, thanks, I adopted this policy for my channel a while back: all the translations I publish are entirely made by me. I don't take translations made by others, that's simply my politics on translations. But why don't you make your own videos, instead? ;)
@@FlamSparks thank you for answering, i think i would forget about my youtube channel really quick if i made one 😅, also i don't know how you find all of these videos. I've been looking for the flemish version of into the unknown and all is found but i just can't seem to find it. Anyway good luck and i love your work. I've been jamming on about 5 versions of every frozen song now.
Well, you can't find the Flemish version quite simply because it hasn't been released yet: it should be available in digital download in a week, I think. Well, consider the idea ;)
I love this song, don't get me wrong, but it just hit me: at what point did the mom ever just bust out singing? Like, she's singing a duet here, completing the conversation between the two through memories and past events... But when did she ever just randomly belt out that lullaby? Did she just belt her heart out in a random room in the castle, pausing every so often, knowing one day her daughter would have a sick ballad and need a grand finisher?
There's absolutely no evidence to support this. It's just how I enjoy the movie. But I assume that for whatever reason the spirits that run the fortress allowed the spirit of Iduuna to sing with Elsa. Because the way that the Iduuna's image presents seems like it's singing with Elsa in that moment. The other memories don't look at, talk to, or sing with Elsa. Also, Iduuna says that Elsa found the answer when she wouldn't have known that while she was alive. And I assume that Iduuna as a spirit presents herself in a way that she feels will be familiar to Elsa. So the same clothing she would normally wear while alive instead of whatever spirits would look like in Norse cultures. That leaves a lot of questions unanswered and makes more questions, like why wouldn't the spirits allow her father to greet her too. Alternatively, the memory of Iduuna does look to be looking down. That could be looking down at present day Elsa as they sing together like my theory. Or it could be a memory of Iduuna looking down at infant or child Elsa but Elsa simply isn't pictured. So she sings how she hopes things will play out: that Elsa will find the answers she is looking for about her life. The hole in this though is that the other memories portray everyone associated in the memory. When child Iduuna sings, the dad is in the memory too instead of only zooming in on her face. Which leads to your idea, That Iduuna simply belted out the lyrics herself somewhere in the castle. It does seem silly but I could also see it. Just her way of processing her emotions about what Elsa is going through and hoping that she will get to say those words to her one day.
oh my gods!! This singer is 1000000000% better than the one for Frozen 1! Can't then redub it with this singer instead? ;__; I can't hear the French Let it go without cringing so bad... Anaïs Delva's voice is just...nope... (and I'm French myself)... I just hate how nasal her voice was. And although I'm still a bit...weirded out with this translation too (why Je te cherce....? they could have use Montre-toi... which translates as Show Yourself... but...well.. it kind of works too)
Y love you Elsa !!!
Donc privilégier l'émotion me semble plus approprié.
At 3:47 you can hear Elsa's sobbing before regaining her composure to sing and this is just so touching and human. This is such a nice touch from the French singer!

Elsa: you who’s been haunting my days and nights for so long
Me: THATS UR MOM SHE HAS TO HAUNT YOU ELSA

I finally resorted to asking somebody who speaks French about this. The line “The wingless bird” means that she has been trying without any success.
That's an image the French lyricist came up with, but it's not clear what it means
They are only very evocative pictures with no real meaning behind them
@@FlamSparks Well, that is not what the person I asked said with regard to the line in Je te Cherche
C'est beau !

What does means this translation?
1. In your fortress, you keep countless secrets, the wildest of dream, but why would you hide away?
2. You, who's been haunting my days and nights for so long
3. And in this loneliness, I'm ready to take the great leap.
4. I used to be an another planet, stranger on my own house
5. I'm looking for you, such a beautiful promise, I'm looking for you, I, wingless bird
I hope the answer, thanks
I''ll try to explain to you what all this means in French (French disney songs are very metaphorical x) )
1- "In your fortress, you keep countless secrets, the wildest of dream, but why would you hide away?" --> in you, you hide a lot of secrets. Incredible dreams. But why are you hiding ?
Remember that Elsa thinks she is speaking to the fifth spirit when in reality she is talking to herself. She tells herself not to hide, to show what she dreams of (be free);
2- "You, who's been haunting my days and nights for so long" --> You, who are always around me. You, who I always think of;
3- "And in this loneliness, I'm ready to take the great leap." --> Loneliness can come from waiting. In this solitude where she waits for the answer, she is ready to go in search of the truth (I'm ready to toake the great leap --> dare to do something);
4- "I used to be an another planet, stranger on my own house" --> "be another planet" means in French "to be different from others" as if we weren't from the same world.

La seule façon d’entendre les chansons Disney en ma langue / the only way to listen to Disney songs in my language
crying
Just her way of processing her emotions about what Elsa is going through and hoping that she will get to say those words to her one day.
hey, can you do a Filipino one?
Don't speak Filipino, sorry
Je pense que la traduction sera "I, you search" en anglaise.
Pour une traduction littéralle, certainement. Pour traduire le sens, "I'm looking for you" est le plus simple.
If you have the singing. Show yourself, Elsa. Hold down on the button to hear French.
Some of the translation is CLOSE but not entirely correct lol. It’s very literal but some are phrases.
Can you be more exhaustive, please?
oh my gods!!

Well. The title is ugly to me (i'm french) but "Glacer" (witch mean frozen) would be even uglier 😂
Donc privilégier l'émotion me semble plus approprié.
