Will watch in full later, the trauma this game inflicted was so unmatched. Seeing Aogami push us away and watching what happened to Yuzuru was absolutely insane.
This is where the game really picks up, man losing Aogami was so heartbreaking hes easily my favorite character of the game, cant wait to see you continue playing
The thing with Dazai is that he's essentially decided that his strength lies in following orders. He realizes thanks to his time mentoring under Abdiel and Mastema that a oneness of purpose gives him the confidence he needs to have an impact on the world. This makes him essentially a lap dog for God's order, because he will do anything as long as it fills that oneness of purpose. I think he's a well written character because they do a pretty good job of setting up how uncertainty has essentially plagued his life up to this point and so having something certain to draw strength from for the first time in his life is intoxicating.
It's definitely done better in the Vengeance route than Creation as we get more scenes showing change from struggling to find a place and Mastema finally giving him the power he wanted.
@@gyrz19 Even though it drove him to stab his closest friends in the back, and this is _after_ Dazai was the one who was the most adamant about the group retrieving Miyazu after Khonsu took her. He's the one who got Yuzuru motivated again. And there's also the fact that that particular scene involved Yuzuru and Dazai starting to refer to each other on a first-name basis, which is a _very_ big deal in Japanese culture, as it is _heavily_ frowned upon to use someone's "given" name in Japan unless you are very close to them (relative, significant other, best friend, etc.). So for all of that to have happened between Yuzuru and Dazai, only for Dazai to then just stab Yuzuru in the back like that only made me hate him even more than I already did from the original game. In the original game he wasn't nearly as close with Yuzuru as he is in Vengeance, which just makes his betrayal sting that much harder. Part of the reason I hate Dazai so much is that he's so weak-minded that he's even willing to betray his *_FRIENDS_* just to uphold Order, not caring or realizing that if absolute Order wins, it will be at the cost of free will, the very thing that makes us truly human in the first place, meaning that even if people are safe, they will have essentially become mindless robots as a consequence. Even worse is that Dazai was willing to trust freaking *_MASTEMA_* even after Mastema turned him into salt just to make an example out of him! Why the hell would you *_ever_* trust someone who did _that_ to you just to make an example?! Dazai trusting _Abdiel_ I can understand, but *_Mastema_* ?! Freaking *_MASTEMA_* of all people?!?! Just how much of an idiot do you have to be to be _that_ gullible?
This part genuinely tore a hole in my heart. Losing three people back-to-back was devastating and I felt genuinely depressed for the rest of the day that I reached this part. Then came the catharsis of fusing with Tsukuyomi and I was so hyped and motivated. Vengeance is one hell of a journey; glad you’re enjoying it.
It’s just wild how everything happened so fast. I’m still sad over Aogami and I feel so bad for Tao and Yuzuru. I really hope somehow we can avenge them cause fuck Dazai and Mastema 😩😩
the contrast between the scene where aogami saves the MC and tsukuyomi asking for his help esp stands out for me. aogami comes down from the sky in the middle of the bright ass desert to save you, tsuku asks for your help in the deepest darkest part of the bethel labs. in the former, the MC is scared out of his mind and hesitates before taking aogami's hand, while in the latter he's clearly pissed about what's happened and he's ready to fuse and get his getback (you see his eyes glow faint yellow even before he takes his hand). this part of the game was so, so cool
Yesss really like how we see more of the protagonist development! I felt like these scenes really show his human side cause most of the game he barely showed emotions 😭
Awwwww i am so sad to see you got heart broken by see this . I am on your side like alway, i had huge heartbroken over Aerith death in Rebirth for few days after completed it first 💔💔💔😭😭😭
Imagine shooting a would-be bank robber through the chest while he's still out in his car and telling him "I did that to stop you from making a dumb mistake like stealing." Same energy as Dazai killing Yuzuru. In both versions of the story, Dazai comes off as unintentionally funny IMO, because he goes from zero to 100 in the blink of an eye, lol.

In the original SMT, SMTII and SMTIV you play as a normal human character. In SMTIII & SMTV you play as a human who ends up turning into a demon in some form. In general, these could be considered the two main "archetypes" of SMT games in terms of story setting and tone. SMTV is a clear spiritual successor to Nocturne (the subtitle of SMTIII). Some people have even gone as far as arguing that it's a story sequel, but that doesn't really make sense for multiple reasons. Trust me, NOBODY likes Mastema, and even ATLUS is aware, given a 'joke' in another game. Someone, somewhere in this game says that he's in charge of handling God's dirty work, so it's weird that an angel can get a pass doing what he does and everything's fine.
Stop lying, Mastema ranked at #13 in the latest popularity poll. Also, it seems you're quite unfamiliar with it but Mastema was Satan in the bible. Satan is a job title used to describe an angel doing God's dirty jobs. Supposedly Mastema was the one behind Abraham trying to kill his son Isaac in order to show how loyal he was to God. He's more important than u think, and overall one of the best demons in the whole series

If he's #13 on this sacred popularity poll, then there's got to be some reason he's not higher up. 2. I remember a demon clearly saying that he handles God's dirty work (I don't remember which demon, so judge me for that too, I suppose, but it's a big game with a surprising number of NPCs), and he's similar (or theorized; thanks, @Lutyrannus!) to Satan, so it's not like I'm far off. Given Mastema's appearance in the game, it's somewhere between Shinjuku and Shakan. If you want to prove me wrong so badly, feel free to pick up the game and search yourself?
