Holy crap this race has so much stuff going on! Jeff & Jeff fight, Kyle Busch’s “gesture”, Jimmie swapping pit crews with Jeff, and Bayne’s first start
Johnson should've picked up a penalty because his wheel rolled across the grass but I guess that won't happen when the Chase is rigged in your favour. Plus having your teammates pit crew do your pitstops instead of working on his damaged car sure does help as well. No wonder Jimmie is useless without Chad the Nonce. And then Chad has the nerve to refuse an interview to explain himself and refuses to allow any other team members from giving an interview as well. I guess some teams just carry power over the sport.
The race where Jimmie's crew kept messing up on pit road, Kyle Busch giving the finger to NASCAR, Jeff Gordon taking a few swings at Jeff Burton and let's not forget the swapping of pit crews between the 24 and the 48 teams. I watched this race and those moments I'll always remember. My how time flies between the COT days and today. Denny Hamlin took over the point lead that day but Jimmie Johnson would rebound and take the championship at Homestead, just barely though. About 39 or 40 points to be exact. I can't help but think that we need this kind of excitement today.
I can see this being rather controversial but I rather like the ('gen 5') CoT, especially in its 2011 - 2012 guise! It was inexpensive, very safe, could withstand some bumping and raced great. The only argument against it, "not looking stock" is true for any other car since the early 90s at least.
Thing is, it really didn't race well at first because the car was rushed out and did not go through sufficient testing before being rolled out. 2008 to 2010 was just painful to watch. Around 2011 they finally got the car figured out and the racing improved. It's why NASCAR is (was) doing such extensive testing on the Gen 7 car before rolling it out. It has many characteristics that are supposed to improve racing but they want to make sure they actually function as intended to avoid another disastrous debut like the CoT and Gen 6 had.
@@retromario96 Wow, that's real low. You should be ashamed of yourself for discouraging what he's saying. And personally, I'm on his side in this situation.
I remember this race. Jeff Gordon wasn't having the best day and when Burton wrecked him. Only made it worse. I was highly confused why Burton would intentionally wreck Gordon. I watched the podcast of him with Dale Jr. explaining what happened.
1:55:22 In-race report with Dale Jarrett and Greg Biffle 2:14:10 Jeff Gordon and Jeff Burton fight after crash under caution Marty Reid: Oh, and this is... Oh, we got a fight breaking out. Andy Petree: And Jeff's not happy. Jeff Gordon not happy with what happened there. Marty Reid: Officials stepping in between, but this is far from over. I mean, there weren't even words exchanged. This was, "in your face".
Not to mention this race was Trevor Bayne's Cup series debut. He finished 17th here, then we would all know what would happen the forthcoming February at Daytona.
Wow you would have thought between this race and the next season's Daytona 500 that Trevor Bayne was a good driver. Too bad his career peaked after 4 races.
ANY driver's fans will be cry babies. Jr. fans were such crybabies, they threw garbage on the track at the Aarons 499 in 2004. But "7 time" is retiring this year with LESS wins because even after Jeff retired, he owns the 48 car. Lmao.
