    How do i apply that to new Square D?

      You would be better off upgrading the fused main with a main breaker panel and then it would be an appropriately sized 2 pole breaker , neutral and ground bar.

      @@kevinlee5116 My guess: This is a sub-panel feeding another sub-panel in an upstairs apartment; so the neutral bus is insulated from the ground lug/buss in both of those sub-panels. @@mauriceallen6700 you need to know the exact guage of wire more than likely its a 40 amp and when it blew they replaced with a larger amp fuse very common and dangerous reason why fuses are not recommended. if its 8 guage wire use a dble pole 40 if its 6 guage its supposed to be a max of 55 amps. chk with local codes they will sometimes let you use a dble pole 60 with 6 gauge wire if its for an appliance tht will never draw the full 60 amps

  • @KevinCoop1
    @KevinCoop1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you really leave the service entrance conductors for a 60 amp service in and change the rest to 100 amps? For anyone watching, it is now against NEC 2020 to install as Main Lugs Only. A main circuit breaker is required. It wasn’t really legal 4 years ago but now is specifically included. The reason not legal is the six switch rule has a minimum size main device is 60 amperes. But was not always enforced back then.

      There is a single switch that deenergizes the whole 200amp service. So the six switch rule doesn't apply. As the load is breakered I'm perfectly comfortable with the install, its basicly a main disconnect means , nothing else.

    A good example of why filming a job but posting it as educational is often a BAD idea.. Of course, you never say that but viewers imply it themselves. And while you knew you were replacing the house wiring up there on 3 we would have loved to see a more "pure" demonstration. If you remove the inside wiring and reconnect, the viewer sees that skill. If you announce your replacing all that and just start hacking away with a wire cutter we learn nothing. When you're on the job, you don't have the luxury of time. I get that. Just wish someone would post a good video of "here's how we disconnect all the power runs, and this is how we reconnect later".

  • @edwarderoh5622
    @edwarderoh5622 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a couple things: Why not pull the meter or have POCO do it. No sense of urgency in this job. Also, why not just use a 100amp disconnect switch which has the proper grounding and bonding connectors. Never seen the 6 circuit panel used like that. Guess money was a factor. Finally, there was no bonding bushing used on the incoming power from the meter. Its a service.
    Just my opinons.

      Edward Eroh the rigid nipple from the meter provides sufficient grounding. Size, cost and uniformity is why I used the 6 circuit panel. And sometimes scheduling doesn't work out, the basement is usually locked and that is a poco issue. I'm not uncomfortable doing it this way and it cuts down on paperwork if you get my drift.
