This is great, but I would've liked it more if it also explained the other branches of anthropology, such as the physical or the medical, because it seems to be relying the most on the social one.
They mostly involve the social aspect as well. Take medical anthropology; it concentrates on how diseases and treatments are perceived and acted out socially. For example, Western medicine seems to be aligned, but there are great differences between an American doctor and a German one. Why is that? It all comes back to the social setting. Google 'medical gaze' and you'll see a good example of social thought which has been further explored withing medical anthropology, among others.
I wonder if this is a European video. In Europe, anthropology as a discipline covers only social anthropology. Archaeology is a completely different discipline. Physical anthropology is either taught as yet another discipline, or as part of archaeology.
I've always really loved anthropology, but I didn't know what it was actually called until I played Danganronpa V3 and watched Korekiyo. I thought I just liked "ancient history" and culture lmao. Now, I'm taking a World Religions class in my first year of high school which is very closely related to anthropology. My favorite class. I absolutely love it.

I remember a couple years ago a video with a blue unicorn in the tumbnail appeared in my reccommended. It's title was Anthropology, "ANIMATED PVM". It was a song about how this blue unicorn wanted to ditch her (judgingby the voice) society and live with and study humans.
I become interested in anthropology as i think that it is the heart of social science , society in general interest me very much from its history, to its present and how it will shape the future, my main focus is linguistic and the anthropology of food and the linguistics studies of profanity ,not to mention ancient language , culture in general and also fashion and beauty is part of anthropological studies, so is politics . that is why now im turning 40s i decided even though its late to enrol myself in the university studying Bachelors of Anthropology
Traditional values refer mainly to circles and curves which reflect in their Art, the way they meet and often their habitat. The technological world we live in sits on linear structures physically and mentally. On one side we have circles, on the other we have squares: for one to directly fit with the other, one has to dominate! Equality between the two may require to go into virtual mode: with a non competitive approach, one can go back and forth from one to the other and experience the journey. To start with the conception that one is right and the other wrong is not leading to solutions, to adopt one approach or the other according to circumstances would be more like it! We may like the idea, but have no illusion about a global application, we can then possibly make use of this concept at our level.
i only learned about anthropology because of a video game called Danganronpa. But now i actually want to do something anthropological related when i'm done high school/start college, because anthropology seems very cool!!!
Thanks for this great video! I think this was a great introduction to cultural anthropological theory and why it is important. Do you have any videos on the other subfields?
The difference between right and wrong was written on your heart by the Creator. You won't find that in some Germanic teaching or writing. That's why the world of academia has spent so much to destroy oral history. True story not His-story Anthropological facts.
You should read small places, large issues by Thomas Hylland Eriksen. It's and introduction to social and cultural anthropology and the first book I read in uni. Great read, it covers the basics of anthropology. Then if you want to read more you can read argonauts of the western pacific by Bronislaw Malinowski, sad tropics (original title tristes tropiques) by Claude levi strauss, the interpretation of cultures by Clifford Geertz and the gift ( essai sur le don) by Marcel Mauss.

I really want to be an anthropologist but more toward history, does anyone here know what that industry is like and how is the road to get there? I would prefer to work in a museum or travel. any info would be really appreciated!
Little late to the party but: If you want to pursue History you can either Major in History, Minor in History, or Double Major in History & Anthropology if you're ambitious. If you want to work in a Museum you have a few options; and those options broaden depending on what type of Museum you want to work in. You can look into a Degree in Museum Studies - arguably the most common. A Degree in Art History would be useful if desiring to work in an Art Museum, an Archaeology Degree may get you work in a Museum centered around Human-made Artifacts. A Biological Anthropology Degree may get you work in a Natural History Museum. If you want to Travel, than a Degree in Anthropology or Archaeology is likely your best bet. Some Universities/Colleges offer specialized Degrees (like Archaeology, or Bio-Anthropology), while others generally allow Students to concentrate their coursework in whichever Field of Anthropology they wish to focus on (Biological, Cultural, Linguistic, and Archaeological). Graduate School is often the way to cement your chosen focus through Coursework, Research Experience, Training, Field Experience, etc. A good Job for Travel is: Cultural Resource Management. It is somewhat of a blend between Cultural Anthropology and Archaeology, and usually entails quite a bit of Travel unless you're attached to a dedicated State Agency or something. You can look up CRM to find out more about it, what they do, types of Jobs, Qualifications, etc. I'd say compile a lists of Jobs that interest you, find out the Qualifications needed, locate Universities/Colleges that have a good Program, and see if they allow Students to focus some of their coursework on a specific Field of Anthropology.
the thing with burqa is, a lot of culture use facial expressions to manage trust and responsibilities as well as expressing concern, love, or hatred and discomfort. Forcing to put people with burqa in is like forcing a less negotiating entity like AI into the party. Can't help but to change the whole dynamics of interactions that is reliable
Honestly it's not as bad as you imagine. I have female friends who wear the niqab and it doesn't stop us from "communicating" at all. There are even some instances when i forget that their faces aren't showing while we are chatting because it doesn't matter wether i can see their expressions or not. There are many other ways we can understand another person's feelings or thought, such as through their voice. We can know if someone is happy, sad or bored just by hearing their voice. Plus, women can take off their niqab Infront of other women so it's not like they will never see a niqabi's face. It's okay if other cultures view burqa or niqab as foreign practices, but what is not okay is them assuming that wearing niqab is bad for women although they do not understand that those women has the choice to wear it or not. It's not a good enough reason to make fun of others' beliefs or to choose to "decide for them" how they should live their lives and practice their religion. It's okay to not like someone else's beliefs, but don't force your own culture, religion or beliefs on them.
