The Axum without the dropper post is currently 1/4 off as of 9/26/2022 : bitly.ws/uFQ3 Schwinn Axum without the dropper post (cheaper): bitly.ws/uFQ3 Swhwinn Axum DP: bitly.ws/uG6N
Got the axum for about 1 month now, it sometimes skips a gear as I pedal, how can I fix that? It goes from a high gear to the next low gear without me using gear shifter, should I adjust It with the barrel adjuster at the derailleur?
Very informative video. One thing you should mention is using grease or anti-sieze paste when assembling metal to metal parts, such as the pedals and seatpost. Otherwise, they can corrode and become almost impossible to remove later.
I just got a Schwinn Axum (black, non-dropper) ordered for $228 +tax. ROLLBACK sale right now at Walmart. I am stoked to check it out. Amazing for msrp of $400, but a steal for $228. It can sit next to my $5000 carbon Specialized Stumpjumper, and still look awesome. :) As a bike mechanic, I would say ALL bikes need to be checked properly unless coming from your reputable LBS, and still you need to adjust things to your spec. Seat height, saddle fore/aft, brake lever angle/ reach... etc. Good Vid, Man!!
The best bike assembly vid I've ever seen. Love the tips on how to adjust the bike. Well edited video. Everything super clear and concise. Great job man.
First time that I understood some of the things that you went over The teacher can make ALL the difference in the world . Thanks again for another great video. Mark from Maryland
Found your channel today. - glad I did. your video was very informative and presented in such a way that you simplified everything you went over. Thanks
Fantastic video! I followed it step by step for my Schwinn Axum. The front brake cable was wrapped up under the frame and I couldn't get the handlebars on. Thankfully your video showed me that they were installed incorectly. The tips you shared about the barrels on the brake handles and other things were helpful too - I learned quite a bit with your video!
What are your thoughts on the Schwinn Axum? I'm thinking about getting one, since I don't have a 29er. I have 1996 Specialized Hard Rock hard tail 26" and a 26" full suspension Sette Ace.
18:30 Fully extended leg while peddling is the most efficient and least strain on the knees. Transfers max power to the drive train. It's not a comfort thing.
Yes and no, full extension sacrifices some pedal control at full extension. On my road bikes I’m set to full extension, my cross country bikes are probably around 90% and my “all mountain” it varies but is pretty much never at full extension. It also absolutely is a “comfort thing” depending on your physical limitations and/or injuries.
Just snagged the black version of this bike on sale for $241. Decided I'm gonna upgrade it instead of pulling the trigger on a Talon 1 or Fathom 2. Thanks for the how to video!
@MTB_FANATIC99 I usually only ride the Giant bikes. Loved the 27.5 Talon and the Fathom. Not the ones when they first added their own shocks but the 2nd or 3rd generation that they worked the kinks out on.
Great info! I have a Schwinn Taff and Network C arriving this week and will be busy assembling in my garage (W/O a bike stand) this weekend. Oh - nice old Supra too!
Thanks for the video I learned a lot. Just wondering in July of 2022 what bike to you choose at Wal-Mart, the Kent Trouvaille, or the Schwinn Axum? ... lol
I just ordered my Axum. Should be here in a few days. Unfortunately the first Axum came out a month after I bought my Giant ATX. I've been wanting one ever since. I'm not impressed with the Giant at all. Both are the same price. I have one question with the assembly. Will I need to grease anything? I've heard there is a lack of grease in the big box store bikes. Very good video by the way. Best of luck to your channel.
Actually, after I made this video I tore the entire bike down and have a bunch of upgrades. There will be a video on that soon. I was pleasantly surprised to find ample grease inside The headset on the bottom bracket. You should be fine.
Thanks for the video, without this, it would have taken lot more time for me to assemble the bike together. Now, I took the bike for a 1st spin, all seems fine except I hear some noise from the front tire, like something is rubbing the tire. I can’t visually see it though, any idea?
It’s probably the disk brake rubbing, try listening up the quick release, putting down weight on the front end, pulling the brake, and retightening the quick release while still holding the brake.
I'm in the process of upgrading my entire Axum. I didn't get the DP because I ride in a city, I will say the stock saddle is pure misery, I replaced it with a cloud 9 saddle.
Oh man thanks for this video! Sadly before sawing the seat post part my cousin messed up the little head that came with DP inner cable and the thing just got inside the plastic and now impossible to get it back to how it was. I will have to buy a new one, do you know which one to get for the seatpost? I barely know anything about bikes
Major thanks for this video as it helped tremendously. I have small issues... I installed the dropper post the same way and the seat is off and I click the button for the dropper it makes the same movement as yours but when I fasten the seat I get no movement from my seat going up or down. My front wheel is in and the front brakes work but I feel a little play with the front wheel going side to side. Is this normal or should something be tightened? Thanks
Glad it helped, have you tried removing the seat post and seeing if the cable is still seated correctly? If the wheel is going from side to side that usually means the quick release hasn't been tightened enough. Try opening up the quick release and giving the nut a 1/2 turn and see if that helps.
@@BudgetOutdoorAdventures Update: The dropper post works fine. I inititialy thought the lever button would allow the seat to go down or up without mounting it lol. I took the front wheel off again and restarted the process. I notice that the front wheel had a little play even when not attached to the fork. I believe the wheel hub came loose in the box. Can It be tighten to do I need to send it back? Thanks!
I’m 6’2 and have the large frame, I like the size, some might say it’s a tad small for 6’2 but I like the fit. I did change the bars out to bars with some riser in them.
@@BudgetOutdoorAdventures ok. I’m 6’2” and I just bought the regular Axum with the large frame and it feels a little uncomfortable. I’m considering getting a shorter stem and higher bars. Also the saddle is way too small. I think that will make the bike perfect. Also thanks for the vid, this was my first time assembling a mtn bike
I just put this bike together today and seem to have issues with the front rotor rubbing against the pads. Do you think I just need to adjust the front wheel?
@@JayeshKamdar I was able to figure it out later that day, you have to adjust where the fork lands on the axle and make sure the wheel is directly in the middle of the fork. After I got it I haven’t had any issues since, even after taking the wheel off and putting it back on. It’s a great beginner bike! Enjoy👌🏼
You must be a teacher, not like most, who just go by the book .... You explain things and go "outside the box" if you need to. Ty. I just ordered a Schwinn Axum Mtb
Mine is almost like ur bike out of the box but the issue is the mounting of the brake cables to the frame… mine is dangling and there is no instructions… 🤷♂️ trying to see if anyone knows… not even schiwinn knows…
The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.

Love my Axum. Would have bought another but I wanted the second one in medium frame and those have been out of stock forever.
By far the best schwinn Axum assembly video out here
Love that 80s Supra!!!
Great informative video for people like me just getting into mountain biking! I'm gonna be ordering one soon! Can't wait to see where you take yours.

Pro level tutorials. Keep up the great work!

These were a good deal at full price, that’s an amazing deal! Have fun!
my front wheel isnt even, in between the forks. is that normal? or did i do something wrong
Great work man
Thanks for the great video...

I put the quick release on the non side drive side.
Very comprehensive and well done. Excellent video 👏
What size chain guard sleeve did u go with
Do you have any videos on how to true the wheels?
Truing wheels is very hard to learn and explain on videos and you really need a truing stand you can use zip ties hope you got them trued ❤❤
