In this video, we find the resultant force, location angle and direction from the given component vectors. This problem is solved by combing the two component vectors to form a single final resultant force by using the Parallelogram Rule or Parallelogram Law.
Problem statement:
Determine the magnitude and direction of the resultant of the two forces shown.
Problem walkthrough steps:
Draw a quick free body diagram
Form a parallelogram by copying and pasting the component forces
Draw in the resultant from corner to corner
-Calculate the angle opposite the resultant force
-Use the law of cosines to find the value of the resultant
-Use the law of sines to find the angle of the resultant off of one of the components
-Use this angle to find the resultant angle off of the x-axis
