Gill played well and Pujara rock solid. And then at 265/5.After 92 Overs, when it was 278/5 I thought it can be a draw...But what an innings from Pant. Against all Odds of Hard Quaratine-Bio Bubble, Sledging,Racial Abuses, Bodyline Bowling & most importantly so many Injuries with young team... Without Main captain..and with an awesome Captain Rahane India won ... I cannot believe this is true..❤️❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭😭😭

@@MrSaurav1990 but if he gets better as a wk,(which he is, only a few niggle,which will improve,he is only 23),then team balance would be great and we can play Jaddu at 7,which gives us flexibility of choosing our 4 bowlers, Ashwin and 3 pacers or,even Hardik at 7, 8 and 9 could be Jaddu and Ash,then 2 bowlers, basically we can have options if he is our keeper, because he is a solid no 5,6.
Why is it that when Indian team does great something like today.. people say that Australian team was tired as same bowlers were playing throughout the series. When Australian side of early 2000 with Waugh and pointing .. other teams were weaker as compared to them . But they were called unbeatable which they truly were .. but no one said that other teams were weak ..
Saying 2001 series win is better discredits to the team of that time. 2001 we had a very strong home side equal on paper to Australia. Agreed Kolkatta Test was great. But in this series we did that Dravid-Laxman kind of performance nearly in every match. Chennai test we won a more comfortably. But this series every match we had performed out of our skin as we were the underdogs. This is much better than 2001.
56 year old "uncle" here. First of all, Abijit Ganguly reminds me of Dinesh Hingoo 😊(for those born after 1980 that's the drunk guy in the Pag Ghungroo song in Namak Halal). Now coming to the main point. Having seen cricket since the 70s, and as a 10 year old witnessing the trauma of 42 all out and now seeing the 36 to start the series, this victory puts all others in the shade, however great 2001 etc were. Not at home, not with a full strength team. This was away, in Australia, at the unconquered Gabba, with a battered and bruised second choice team, with debutants galore. For those of us who had seen the '83 WC win live and wept tears of joy and seen what that did to Indian ODI cricket, this will be that for Test cricket for this generation. Bravo !
I think players like amol muzumdar,jaffer , Rajinder Goyal etc should not be labeled as Domestic Greats. They are great cricketers. Unfortunately they couldnt or had less opportunity to play for India. Legends

Harsha Bhogle said before the series that India is set to dominate not just the 1st position in the world but 1st 2nd and 3rd. That's the squad depth we have. Hope this materializes. I would love to see two senior teams representing India in different international matches at the same time.

Why do you keep bringing everybody's average. Average are useful when you are analyzing someone's performance over a longer span (2-3 years, whole career). For the series which has just concluded, you remember all the performances and you remember how many impact innings someone has played or how many great spells someone has bowled and that's what matters in the end.
