Over in Leeds University tower, staff have set up a webcam over a Peregrine nest. The hen bird(stunning) has produced three beautiful young and at present they are growing rapidly. Yesterday i was treated to the amazing sight of all three juveniles on the stone ledge, plus noisy calls for parental attention. Peregrines are magnificent !
How could anyone down vote interesting true facts about an amazing Bird of Prey? I learned something today. Tubercle's - like little baffles to help with that 200mph windflow. Peregrines could do loops around a skydiver..........amazing!
yes didnt know that either and I am a peregrine fan !
Wonderful and informative video! Thanks so much! :)
I Love my falcon
Hunting with falcons is environmentally friendly and preserves the prey in abundance. Taking care of falcons is one of the most beautiful things that a person can spend his time in the middle of nature with the creatures that help their companions to hunt ... for example dogs and falcons .... joint hunting and group work .... but unfortunately we are in Morocco North Africa, we cannot use these traditional methods. I hope that there will be a law that frames and recognizes this hobby in our country in the future.

The king falcon
Absolute BS on striking prey with clenched foot. Like all other raptors it uses its talons for obvious reasons. Falcons always attempt to grasp prey vs. strike with closed foot that would likely break toes on impact. Lots of images available on falcons striking prey with open foot vs. clenched foot.
I made a very similar comment to yours, about this, just a few days ago (mid February 2024). You are correct. I don't know why but my comment does not show. The clenched foot story is a myth, quite absurd and often repeated. Probably the idea just started as an anthropomorphism.
