The Armenian Who Stayed Behind, in Homage to Ancestors

- Sarkis Teke is the last living native Armenian in a Turkish city that was once full of them. His forebears have long since gone in the years after the mass killings and deportation of 1.5 million ethnic Armenians by the Ottoman Empire in 1915.

i m Turkish and hope to see all Armenians, Greeks and other minorities exiled during the war time come back to their homelands again, live together again peacefully.
under Armenia territory
@@fahik come and get it🤣🤣🤣🤣
Also basically half of turkey was part of armenia before the ottomans were even around it’s historically Armenian land as in it was formed a few years even before Rome What I do know for a fact is that many Turkish people died too and got their heads cut off with Armenians trying to help Armenian’s espace from the genocide we have to let go
of the past but the way we do that is accepting the truth not manipulating people to hate Armenians and deny valid fact’s
@@henryjacobs4478 yeah, like most of Europe ans North Africa were part of the same Empire. But do you thing italy would clame all these landes?? So bé serious 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mush van bitlis erezerum have been Armenian ancestral homeland for thousand of years I will return to akjan mush mush will always be Armenian western Armenians are the real Armenians the proud toughest eastern turkey is western Armenia . Mush my homeland Armenians will return trust me
Sarkis has the indominable Armenian spirit, no matter what they did to us we do not ever forget nor let fear control us
like arsthak :)
@@vizibilibende5194 Enjoy our lands, while you can
Serkez emmiyi iyi tanırım aynı mahallede oturduk eşeği vardı bide vay ben karaman bayırının üstünde
Sarkis Abi or Sarkis is our big brother, our friend, our uncle, our beloved fellow countryman. Sarkis is a person who can call himself "I am a Turk". He considers Armenianism as a religion and Turkishness as a higher identity. He is an incredibly republican, secularist, devoted to Atatürk's principles and a lover of Atatürk. You can watch his speeches in Turkish.
Our Armenians are too attached to our lands to leave so easily. Even if we are forced to leave, we will find a way to return. That land is our land.
Kristapor Aintabtsi lol not really since Turkey and its ancestors have been there since 11th century
@@3381-c5v The comparison is not the same. Armenian people and their culture emerged in those lands - all of Eastern Turkey's deepest roots are Armenian. We did not just live there for thousands of years - we've never lived anywhere else. Whatever was there prior the unification and formation of the Armenian nation were tribes and hunter gatherers who amalgamated to form the Armenian nation. Even genetic studies show that modern Armenian genes are formed by those of the first settlers in the area, from ~8000 years ago, and any major admixture of genes ended 400 years before the formation of Urartu (i.e, 3200 years ago), latest ~1200 BC.
@@Armoterra yes i understand this, but turks came there with migration and fough and won wars, it wasn't handed to them like Israel is now. And they're present there since the 1000's. The world changes, need to adapt to it. Or else USA wouldn't exist neither
338 1024 USA doesn’t try to erase Native Americans from their history. Native Americans have autonomous regions that act almost like a country within a country. The same is true in Canada, Australia, and almost any country where foreign invaders have overtaken the indigenous population.
Turkey is one of the only countries that not only forbids Armenians from being Armenian in Armenia, but even actively tries to erase Armenian history from the lands. You go to Ani and you don’t see any mention of “Armenians.” It’s genocidal.
Again, the comparison is not the same.

If Turkey wants the Armenian community to feel safe and welcomed it could start by restoring several of the Armenian churches that were abandoned as a result of the genocide and are now in ruins. Bonus points if they allow Armenians from Armenia to freely go there on pilgrimage.
My family is from Aharonk village in Sassoun, Dikranagerd, and Mazhak (Gesaria).
I have deeds from my parents passed to them from their parents for t heir families' lands in the Adana and Marash areas. But if I try to claim them, they will kill me. How do I know? Because we know that people who have tried, within the last 10 to 30 years, have been killed if they have had success. You can go there, get a lawyer who will genuinely help you, but somewhere along the line when you try to take the land, someone there will kill you and the government, police, etc. do nothing about it - they are complicit. I know there are other Armenians like me who have these deeds, many of us who won't try to claim them. If Turkey wants to truly heal our wounds, give us those lands back with full protection. I am sure they never will or would, and that's how I know they really don't want to heal any wounds - they're trying to create a pretense by which to avoid possible future reparations to Armenians. Well, before reparations, how about just give us what is already legally ours? These deeds, by the way, are from pre-genocide obviously, older than the written Turkish alphabet, they are in Turkish language written in Arabic alphabet. Interesting, huh? Sad too, huh?
Brave man !
70 .000 armenian Live in Türkiye 🇹🇷 now 😒
He's not the only Armenian who stayed behind I lived in sivas and Van for many years and I was born in the United States
Are ottomans turkified Armenians
0:48 as a mass revenge??
Is this the background music of yervant from dyembakir? I think it is?
My Christian Armenian friend
how beautiful the old villages and towns were
The Ottomans were stupid for also destroying and eradicating these historical building and churches
Stand up Armenians!!
That man who was holding his arm. Was that man his boyfriend? They look so nice together.
Probably a turkish man showing his kindness by walking with him. This is not america to be stupid and call everything gay.
Art999 art I don't care if he was gay or not. Or just holding hand for showing his friendship towards him.
KAYSERIA HIDDEN ERAREN YOZGAT ÇAPANO GUJLU GIREGORI SARKIZ TEXE KAYSERIA ERAREN❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This video is wrong. Armenians weren't revolting in 1915. The Dashnaks were propping up the Young Turks during 1915.
Pls change your name,,,Ayla is ok BUT albayrak,, ?????
Unfortunately these are the consequences for the betrayal of your 800year old friends during his hardest time
"800 year old friends" "betrayal" 😂😂
The Ottoman were the last Caliphate. Soo obviously they used Sharia law. Under Sharia law no one is equal to Muslims. All other groups were second class citizens. Gues what Armenians were/are? 😃. They were never friends. Take your propaganda elsewhere.
