Beethoven's (Synthesized) 9th - 4th Movement

- This is a cover version of the 4th Movement from Walter (Wendy) Carlos's arrangement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony - all done on a Korg X5D.
Doing this was purely for fun - I didn't realise the extent of the learning curve I was about to experience, or the ups and downs, self-doubt, fear, and all the other emotions that trying to recreate something by such a phenomenal genius can bring (I'm talking of Beethoven himself, of course, but Carlos wasn't far off either)! Thanks to Mike Cox and Jason Fillingham and Barry Hall for lending me their ears, and for their constructive comments, in the past couple of weeks! Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe will be next - or maybe Rhapsody in Blue.... - เพลง
"So you're keen on music?"
"YESS! !!"
Viddy well, little brother. Viddy well.
Shut up dim. Stop stealing Alex's thunder
i was listening to this with my droogs after some of the good ol ultraviolence
real horror show!
How's about some Moloko Plus before we prepare for the ultra violence? Then we can cap the evening with a diddy on our moogs, my droogs? Sounds appetizing, yes?
@@kevinfager. bit of the dirty 20 to 1
It was gorgeousness and gorgeosity, gravity all nonsense.....
@@kevinfager. be careful tho, you don't want a pain in your guttywutt
Real horrorshow piece, brother!
A reminder: in A Clockwork Orange, this music is used as the background for the aversion treatment for Alex De Large's affinity for 'ultraviolence' as it coincides with the worst 'ultraviolence' possible even a hundred years after World War II.
The Nazis loved Beethoven's Ninth.
Ironic really isn't it. The lyrics call for the unification of every man under heaven including Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, ect. Directly contradicting the Nazi's ideology.
"I'M CURED! PRAISE GOD!"
Your not cured yet boi!
When the Stanley Kubrick box set came out in the late 90's early 2000's. My father who is 65 now, bought it. My life had changed forever.
I bought a CD of the soundtrack form Kubrick's Clockwork orange many moon ago. It has a lot of Wendy and her moog on it. Still one of my favorite albums.
Same exact story as me. Loved that box set
It was the next day, brothers, and I had truly done my best, morning and afternoon, to play it their way and sit, like a horrorshow co-operative malchick, in the chair of torture, while they flashed nasty bits of ultra-violence on the screen. Though not on the soundtrack, my brothers. The only sound being music. Then I noticed in all my pain and sickness what music it was that like cracked and boomed - it was Ludwig van: Ninth Symphony, fourth movement.
Josh Freilich I was cured all right....
yep "love" that movie
"AHHHHHHHH Stop it! stop it! Please I beg you!!!!"
"This is sin, this is sin this is sin!!"
“Sin? What's all this about sin?”
Hear angel trumpets and devil trombones! You are invited!
Marni Stone come with uncle!
But that was the William Tell Overture.
"That! Using Ludwig van like that! He didn't do no harm to anyone. Beethoven wrote the music."
it's a synth! it's a synth! it's a synth it's a synth it's a SYNTH!
haha. great.
Synth? What’s all this about synth?
@@LegoManiac_101 Ask Alex DeLarge.
Are you keen on Synths?
@@eseotrovato2937 on synths, and on oranges.
For her. for Wendy Carlos. My master.
I never post TH-cam comments. This wonderful adaptation has moved me to break my principle. Nice work!
Those last few seconds are something else, pal. Splendid, sublime, stupendous.
@@m.e.pritchard4263 how are you doing
Wendy Carlos is a genius
This is the song I want playing throughout my mansion as I go down Tony Montana style.
Lol, mansions are so big.
how to clean? lol.z
...Or playing on your car stereo during a drive by shooting. LOL
Yeah! I'm down with that.
How about in a stolen Durango 95 whilst speeding down a country road looking for a bit of the old Ultraviolence
I was cured alright :)

Are you referring to the background score?
YES
So you've heard Beethoven before?.
"Time for a bit of the old, in out in out!"
Hello my brothers!
Droogd
Totally different sound from the Moog, but still great. All that's missing is the vocoder.
Wendy Carlos has done a Moog version WITH the vocoder. In fact it's her version that's featured in the movie.
Makes you ready for some good old ultraviolence
also for the good ole in , out, in out my dear old droogie
As heard in A Clockwork Orange.
Superb transformation of a superb piece of music, often played by the DJ at the pub where I work as he prepares the build up to the monthly Smiths / Morrisey night.
Блять, спасибо, я искал этот шедевр целый час
At 66 and a drummer,I remember renting switched on Bach from my local library when I was 19.I fell totally in love with electronic music and Bach.Love this cover and I do my own version on my Roland.Thanks.
Excellent, and my good friend, the late great David Bowie would have loved this. When he performed Ziggy Stardust, this is the tune that David and his band came on stage to !
Very well done. Bravo.
Terry Fair Thank you!
TVM for all your comments! I'll try and get some more stuff on here soon.

Her name is Wendy.
Very very good! Perfect choices of sound!
Brilliant synthesizer composition of Ludwig Van Beethoven's music courtesy of revolutionaries Robert Moog & Wendy Carlos.
Pretty sure 'she' was still known as 'Walter' when working on this.

THIS IS AMAZINGGG
Great Job. I love this version.
I like a bit of the old in and out when I listen to this
In all seriousness we need to actually remake classical music in a synth style
Turned-On Bach by Wendy Carlos did this decades ago and it's fantastic
this is WONDERFUL--it makes you want to simply listen to how Carlos's work on the moog is so great!!
Ouvi essa música com meus amigos... Agora eles são meus druguis.
Most amazing song!
Ahh yes, Ziggy's theme - I can almost hear Ronno tuning in the background - 'Hang onto Yourself'
The music I slooshy'd reverberated around my rasoodock real horrorshow. Ludvig Van was real oomny at making the old ditty or two.
I was cured alright
The Glorious 9th!
No probs - look forward to seeing it!
Very well done !
I'm sure if Beethoven appeared in 2012 and was given a hearing aid and showed this video, he would ring your neck like a vice.
Beethoven played cadenzas, essentially early jazz.
So -I- say that Beethoven would take part in this new version and start singing!
Amazing.
AWESOME!
Brilliant!
Makes you want to do yourself in, whether you have aversion therapy or not.
Thank you David!
Great version Frank!
I imagine Alex delarge meet Burn-E from pixar as a Beethoven fan well of course they listen all beethoven music ❤❤❤❤
This song makes me feel good
Très réussi. Merci. (great job, thank you) !
awesome. I'd like to hear more tunes like this!
An excellent job Frank
“I'm cured,pray god!”
Very nice!
Very nice cover!
Great work brother
Why spending huge amounts in drugs ? This is more than enough to get me higher the the everest.
Where were you when I was deaf and sober
Gracias, Terry!
A______ Classic
How do you generate the horn like instrument that enters at 12 seconds? I think you hit the Carlos version exactly on that instrument. The vocoder to envelope follower run across an actual singers voice would be quite a project.
Great Stuff!
Great !
Anyone have / know where to find a compilation of Queen Mary and this electronicized record-store part and the quick-tempo-ed parts of the 9th? This $hit's my favorite score ever but I can't find anything of it all, like, together...
@jimpeters that would be so frickin' awesome!!
Es increíble..... de la forma que sea, del estilo que le imprima el ejecutante, de instrumentos formales o sintetizadores....la Música de Beethoven es maravillosa!
Absolute fucking masterpiece.
Can’t find the Wendy Carlos version anywhere
great! more synthesized and colorized vids please:-)
I like it.
Cheers Mikey!
Why is WC's version of This & almost all of Clockwork Orange simply impossible to find on TH-cam ?
Good job!
*Maniacal laughter* I was cured alright!!!!!!
On a Korg X5D and nothing else? Good job. :)
A real horrorshow of a piece, this is.
Great talent bravi
Hi George.
No problem - go ahead with it, and I look forward to seeing your vid!

Funny how the colors of the world only become apparent when you viddy them on a screen.
which Moog was this recorded with?
Good effort. Not easy.

"Come with uncle and hear all proper! Hear angel trumpets and devil trombones. You are invited."
Ah yes my Brothers.
Great wake up song
Can someone explain to me what this is and where it's from, originally? Like this specific song i can find anywhere. I have to search for "clockwork orange synth tune" to find it. But is it originated from Beethoven ?
