What is not mentioned is after birth (and they are not at capacity) they move you to a room that does not look like this. It is reminiscent of visiting a terminally ill relative. I was shocked. Love the doctors and staff are really great, their facilities after birth though are let’s just say different...

@UC Davis Health, how many people are allowed in the room during delivery? Can I have my husband and my mother in there? Also, do I stay in my private room for recovery as well or do you guys move us?

Do any of your rooms have labor tubs?

Two of the rooms have tubs, but we do not perform water births. You can learn more at health.ucdavis.edu/birth-center/

If u request a tub, can you use the tub until u get the epidural because the bath helps with my pain? I know u dont do water births but that's not why I would want too use it, just too help the labor speed along, help with softening the cervix and soothe the pain??

Water is a wonderful way to manage pain during labor. This modality can be used at home, prior to coming to the hospital as well as once you are admitted to the hospital. At the University Birthing Suites, we have the option of showers in each of the labor rooms and tubs available in two of the 14 labor rooms.
