I have a company and I want you to help me please to decide which information system to choose/use for each of these a) if I want to reduce my stock inventory space but dont loose customers and b) if I want to reduce the transportation costs for trying to have better management of the vehicle itineraries . Please Help! Which one to choose and why? Could it be M.I.S. in the first one? In the second? *note that the company wants to do a digital transformation.
I would like to say in advance that I am not yet familiar with supply chain management, as I have not dealt with this area! But I can give you good starting points that the large consulting companies use to decide which information system is suitable for digitization: 1. How big is your company? 2. What is the investment budget? 3. How quickly should the information system be integrated? Depending on the size of the company, it can take up to 4 years for SAP, for example, to be fully functional. With Oracle it is much faster and cheaper. But Oracle does not offer all the options that SAP systems have for this. 4. How tech-savvy are your employees? There is no point in integrating a complex information system if your employees do not know how it works and only use half its potential. 5. Has a digital infrastructure been set up in your company or does everything have to be done from scratch? 6. If there is an information structure, has it been properly recorded in a manual? If such a manual does not exist or if the manual was not kept properly, digitization will be delayed many times over! Which in turn will cost you more money. 7. What are the exact goals of your digitization? What is particularly important for your company? What CAN be present? What a nice to have? What is rather unimportant? 8. Do you have the resources to incorporate your collaboration during digitization? This is important in order to see where your employees are having difficulties using the system correctly. So that when the digitization process is complete, your company can use its full potential immediately. I think this is a good guide to get a better idea of the digitization you want. You need a consultant to work with you on site! You should see the transformation of your company like an operative intervention. Of course you can send the course of the disease to a doctor who lives 1000 km away and ask him if it is necessary to do the operation. But I personally prefer to work with a doctor I can trust locally ;) I know that's not the answer you want. But I hope I could help you at least a little bit!
