- Freddy Cole performing You Must Believe in Spring.
A must in emotional music.
I really think this one is one of the best version of the song, and just realized it is not on the youtube. So, if you're a fan of Freddy Cole or you like these soft and warm voice, just enjoy listening!
Lyrics:
When lonely feelings chill
The meadows of your mind,
Just think if Winter comes,
Can Spring be far behind?
Beneath the deepest snows,
The secret of a rose
Is merely that it knows
You must believe in Spring!
Just as a tree is sure
Its leaves will reappear;
It knows its emptiness
Is just the time of year
The frozen mountain dreams
Of April's melting streams,
How crystal clear it seems,
You must believe in Spring!
You must believe in love
And trust it's on its way,
Just as the sleeping rose
Awaits the kiss of May
So in a world of snow,
Of things that come and go,
Where what you think you know,
You can't be certain of,
You must believe in Spring and love
INSTRUMENTAL INTERLUDE
You must believe in love
And trust it's on its way,
Just as the sleeping rose
Awaits the kiss of May
So in a world of snow,
Of things that come and go,
Where what you think you know,
You can't be certain of,
You must believe in Spring and love
You must believe in Spring and love
Songwriters: Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman, Jacques Louis Demy, Michel Legrand
Brings Nat Cole to mind. This is a very beautiful song, and a great version of it.
Wonderful
a piece of magic
Beautiful!
RIP Michel Legrand
Thank you for sharing this...saw Freddie many times. he had that warmth of expression and completely relaxed with the meaning of the lyric always coming forward.
As always you talk about the singer BUT who are the wonderful musicians ?😤
Grover Washington Jr. (soprano sax)
Cyrus Chestnut (piano)
George Mraz (Double Bass)
Yoron Israel (drums)
Sanford Allen (violin)
Lesa Terry (violin)
Al Brown (Viola)
Eileen Folson (Violoncello)
zoooooo mooi wie zijn de muzikanten???????????? de saxophonist!!
A true master of story telling, especially with English lyrics by two of the best in the business, Alan and Marilyn Bergman. Freddy possesses such depth of emotion, intelligent phrasing, class and cool all wrapped up into one. The treat here besides Freddy is a masterful compliment of players. The great Grover Washington Jr. on soprano like we don't usually hear him. Cyrus Chestnut, piano, George Mraz, bass, Yoron Israel, drums, Sanford Allen, Lisa Terry, violins, Eileen Folson, cello, and Al Brown on viola. Just one of the best arrangements and renditions of this song! Arranged by Tom McIntosh
Saw Freddie a few years back at the Birdland... The man is so cooool! He has a way of telling the story...
Moving and beautiful. A rare gem
This is great, but Tony Bennett's version will make you cry.
FREDDY COLE (1931 - 2020)
His is the best!
Wonderful ❣️
