I have always checked the wind on days I plan to go to Vegas. even so I cant guarantee that extremes will be there.
Yes, weather is certainly not the only factor. I remembered seeing a documentary produced in 2015 showing they had a sticky note in the control room saying "No extremes after 5 pm".
