@croop0903 Overall she was good by a technical level she was hitting the notes well and was on key theirs nothing wrong with it "scientifically" it's just clearly expirimental. Björk did the exact same thing in the 90s and she's always praised as one of the best vocalists of all time by critics, it's just that during the 2010s the world had gotten very commercial and the average audience wasn't ready for expirimental performances like this anymore like they once used too

Well yes definitely you can say she was off sometimes or playing with low and high notes, but at that time nobody was really singing or making sounds like her. So definitely nobody were ready for that kind of performance also she was so nervous and it was her first big live television. This performance is iconic

here's what i think, i personally thought this performance wasnt the best, she was clearly nervous, she was off key at some points even i was like "YOU no please", but it especially sounds alright to me now. that said, i can see why someone who had never listened to her music before and this performance serving as an introduction, i can see why they would be confused and be like what is she trying to do??
I love all performances from beginning because have emotions of her!! For the reason that notes she has stage fright and you see that in very 2012 performances. But I Love
"Million Dollar Man Live" from Concert Live definitily was the moment for me.

I don't think it's a bad performance at all and if you think it's bad, you should try singing Lana Del Rey songs because they are not easy on any means; I think this performance was really good actually it just seems like she probably let her anxiety get the better of her and that's something I completely understand because I've been there. It's not easy singing in front of a crowd of people. She's since gotten better about this and that's what I love about her.

I think that the problem is that she tried to use too many different singing techniques here and it backfired. When singing live, she likes to experiment with her voice and change things up, but it looks like before she didn't have as much control over it and it was too inconsistent. After her NFR album her lives sound almost perfect. I think that she has finally found what works for her at that point, what techniques fit her voice and what she is naturally good at without putting too much effort in it. She has found her voice and she sounds great now comparing to some of her older lives. And she can still experiment with her voice, but now she has boundaries and sounds really good.
You can compare this with the Blue Jeans she sang at NFR Tour in Sacramento Memorial Auditorium on October 08, 2019, in a good quality video uploaded by 4mytotuch, timestamp 22:23 (the "No, please" part is at 23:44 and she comes close to the camera at 24:50, being nice to the fans). She has complete control over her voice and sounds angelic, even while giving out autographs. I think that if she recorded Blue Jeans now, her studio version would be different and would sound like that live, because she sings in a different way now. And you are right, it's completely okay to say something is bad if it is, it doesn't make you less fan.
